Rigged IT contracts with the Pentagon, Alan Hayward James, 51 years old and calling himself Al Capone, admitted to conspiracy charges including wire fraud, bribery, and bid rigging, for Pacific Air Forces in Hawaii. The scheme kicked off back in April 2016 and ran for nine years. James teamed up with competitors, pushing some to over bid and others to submit ridiculously low offers, which led his crew snag contracts at jacked up, prices. This hit hard on taxpayers and honest companies trying to compete fair. It even pulled resources from key military services meant to keep us safe, according to Hawaii's top federal prosecutor, who called out how this kind, of cheating erodes trust in government deals. Others found ledgers tracking payoffs through shell companies and fake salaries to family and cronies, including one nicknamed Godfather.
