Affordable Homes Bloom at Poplar Gasworks

0:00On March 9th, more than 223 affordable homes for social rent are coming to the former popular gas work site in East London years. Ahead of schedule, Tower Hamlet's Council says these family-sized units in Heron Wharf Poplar will be ready by 2029. The first phase already delivered 219 affordable homes, and the project emphasizes larger spaces to fight overcrowding in the borough. Developers have also restored a piece of industrial history by reinstalling a 22-meter high gas holder from 1876, painted it. Original Striking Blue, right in Leven's Bank Park. Local leaders highlight how this addresses some of the worst housing pressures in the country, providing secure homes for families in need. The full neighborhood will include nearly 3,000 homes total, plus a 2.5 acre riverside park and spots like a food store, restaurant, cafe, gym, and children's nursery, partners from the council, Berkeley Capital, and the Greater London Authority praised the teamwork
