Now, receive his peace as we meditate and abide in Christ. Welcome to this abide meditation. I'm Monet Lara. Are you stuck in the mistakes you've made? Maybe you said something that hurt someone else and you keep beating yourself up about it, even after they've forgiven you. Or perhaps you did something in your past the consequences of which you still carry today. Take a deep breath as you confront the emotions of those choices. God is near. In James' letter to Christians scattered abroad, he writes about self-control. Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. James says if we can control our tongues,
we can control our entire body. How have you seen the loss of control start with something you say? Mistakes can motivate you to do something new, to grow and build the confidence and endurance to keep going. When you embrace your failures and you see them as stumbling blocks that you've overcome, you learn to make choices that boldly face to this comfort of growth. We all stumble in many ways. James writes, if we didn't make mistakes, we'd be perfect. Or as that might be nice, it's not our present state. And so we take a look at those mistakes, learn from them, and then move on to better love God and others. Lord, guide me with your strength and wisdom. Help me see the grace that comes from moving beyond my missteps.
Yes, sometimes the choices that I make hurt others. And for that, I am deeply sorry. But I can't beat myself up about it. I need to ask forgiveness and then move on. Better, more loving and kind. Seeking after you with my whole heart. Help me move on, Lord. With your help, I can overcome my mistakes and live the abundant life you have planned for me. Amen. Continue to take deep breaths as you picture it in your mind, your car's steering wheel. See how easily you control the car with just a movement of that wheel. Now, imagine controlling your words just as easily.
What mistakes from your past are you still holding on to? Let the Holy Spirit be your gentle guide as you see them, and then release them. Open your hands to show your willingness to let them go. As far as the east is from the west, so far as he removed your sin from you, it's at the bottom of the deepest ocean, and God does not remember it anymore. Trust God to lead you past your mistakes. Father God, I have made mistakes. I know that everyone has, but it's hard for me to move past my mistakes
when I know that I have hurt other people. Show me who I need to ask forgiveness from. Where restoration is possible, help me pursue that. If I've burned bridges, help me to rebuild them. Learning from my mistakes isn't easy, Lord, but I know it's necessary. Help me have the humility to do the right thing and I move forward with you. Amen. With God's help, you have the power over every decision you make. Over every word you say, when you make a mistake, let Jesus lift you up and help you move on. Until next time, may you abide in Christ.
