This is Corey with The Story, keeping you tapped into pop culture. You're listening to Entertainment and Celebrity News today. ABC has canceled Taylor Frankie Paul's upcoming season as the Bassorette just days before its premiere on Sunday, March 22nd. The decision came after a disturbing video from a 2023 fight surfaced online, showing Paul in a violent clash with her ex, Dakota, Mortensen. In the clip, the 31-year-old punches and kicks Mortensen before throwing a metal bar stool that accidentally hits her than five-year-old. Daughter, Indy. The child cries out as police later arrive at the home, an incident featured in her reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Paul was arrested on February 17, 2023, facing felony charges of aggravated assault and domestic violence in front of a child, plus misdemeanor counts of child abuse and criminal mischief. She took a plea deal in August, pleading guilty to a third-degree felony assault charge with others dropped.
That plea could reduce to a class, a misdemeanor she stays clean from alcohol and drugs for three years. Network reps say they're now focusing on supporting the family instead of airing the show. Paul's team calls the video release a desperate move by her ex, timed on their young son's birthday to distract from his own issues, but the public, backlash has sealed the show's fate for now.
