A Prayer for When Faith Feels Like Pressure

Loving God,

Sometimes we learn to respond to pressure—

to move toward what is rewarded,

and away from what is not.

And sometimes,

we find those same patterns

shaping how we respond to you.

But you meet us differently.

Not with threat,

not with something held over us—

but with an invitation

to notice what we’ve already experienced,

and to respond from there.

And as we are gathered together,

draw us into what is emerging among us—

not standing alone,

but becoming part of something shared.

Shape us in goodness.

Form us in compassion.

And teach us to hold our own experience with humility—

trusting that it matters,

but that it is not the whole.

Keep us open

to what is being formed among us.

Amen.
