A Prayer for Deeper Vision

Loving God,

You see what we often miss.

Where we notice appearances,

you look into the heart.

You know our intentions,

our struggles,

and the hopes we carry within us.

Forgive us for the moments

when we judge too quickly

or assume we understand a life

we have barely begun to know.

Teach us to slow down.

Give us eyes that look with compassion,

hearts that remain open,

and spirits willing to see the dignity

you have placed in every person.

May we learn to look at one another

with the same patience and love

with which you look at us.

And in doing so,

may our lives reflect your love

moving through the world.

Amen.
