In 2024, a truck crashed into Canaw in Moresque, where I work. 146 of our dogs needed homes fast. We asked for help on Facebook. Our story spread through WhatsApp messages and Instagram reposts. Immediately, people stepped up. And just six hours later, every dog was fostered. I'll never forget how our community showed up for us. A numbers call the story always down. Swindles, 80s, and Bolivian, analytics. This is a numbers game with Gill, I like Xander. Gone V-Send. Our number two of a numbers game at V-Send. These sports betting network V-Send.com, Game Plus, I-Hard Radio, YouTube TV, and of course, Series XM Channel 158, Gill, I like Xander, Kelly Bidlin. And more importantly than you and me, Kelly, Dr. Bob coming up, Jo Sheen coming up, Bill Crackenberger coming up, unscripted with a crack man, Bob on the sweet 16 and Jo Sheen as baseball's opening day. Remember last night was opening like today's opening day. Ready for first pitch. And just over two hours, Paul Skins going up against Paul Skins and the Bucco's going up against Freddie Peralta and the Metropolitan's, I'm on Skins. Let's go. I don't want to overpromise anything, but I guess I will. Jo Sheen might even have some sweet 16 thoughts for us as well. Jo Sheen on the sweet 16, everybody. By the way, number's game brought to you by Profit X.
And proudly, I've asked, I was like, are you proud of this? They're like, absolutely. I know, I know. I feel better because you know how everybody's like proudly sponsored by you didn't ask them. Yeah, they don't know. Might just be a little regret it. They mentioned me like, no, it's a business transaction. We're not that proud about it, but they're proud. Like in theory, we could have been the second or third choice show for Profit X. Right, we don't know. Except you didn't know. Now I do know we were not the second or third. We were number one. By the way, I could do, I could do two hours on that game. Just play every day on that game with whatever in life. Like in a fellow war, I don't even know. It could just be anything because there's so many categories, right? It's like, who would you vote for? Who do you think will win? And then the third category is, is there a bet? Yeah, right. I've also like, there's, I, there are NBA awards, so many awards that I think are completely up in the air right now. I do too. The reason that I keep harping back on this is we know with stats, we know with divisions, we know with like actual things
that are played on the field, right, or on the court. We kind of have an idea based on numbers where votes are going to go, right? We Josh Allen versus Lamar Jackson. We can point to stats with these kinds of things, right? Where it's a nebulous coach of the year, most improved. And just in the case of the NBA, I would say MVP because everybody's such a worthy candidate. I do not believe that these numbers reflect reality in any way, whatsoever. And Shay topped out at what a minus 1100 earlier in the week. Yeah. So yeah, it been back down. Everybody creeping back up. The one I, the one I'm going to, oh, there we go. God, we're up. Come on, baby. It was a bomb birdie putt. Sorry, sorry. The TV squirrel. New TV in the studio. I just shout out to Drew Dinkfire. He does the establish the run NBA podcast. These him, Mike Gallagher, do a great job with it. They were going through some awards stuff yesterday, had brought up a situation with clutch player of the year,
which I, you know, I don't, I don't love it. I think it's a kind of manufactured award just to go, just to get people to go to NBA.com and look at their clutch stats because that's based every winner has exactly what it is. Every winner has been first or second in clutch total points for the season that they play it. I'm kind of talking to Zach about this last night. This is my fault for not bringing this up with Zach on the, the case right now in the odds, odds we pull this up. Shay is a massive favorite in this market too, okay? And it's just kind of going off of those same clutch stats. Now, if we think Shay's going to win MVP already less of a likelihood that he would win a second award, right? Hey, we usually think there's reason for these guys to look for another case. And the average Jamal Murray index on the list clutch points makes a lot of sense. Can I interest you, Gil? In a case where a guy since the all star break has the second most points scored in clutch and is 75 to one on the board. Oh, sure. That interests me. That would be one look at Donchich.
Now, you would ask, you're wondering how could he be 75 to one? How does he have this bad? Before the all star break, he was a hundred and 19th in clutch total clutch point scored, which I don't even know how that makes sense. But I think it is a great example of how, how closely our voters going to stick just to those stats or are they going to let any narrative work in its way into these conversations at all? Because I think Luca could be worked into that conversation for this award and then, and then Zach brought it up yesterday. Kate Cunningham too. It's in a way to award, get an award to Kate Cunningham without having to worry about these games. Do you get the same feeling I do when we start talking about clutch player award that we, it's, it's almost like a jump the shark kind of thing. Like we've gone too far with the awards. Oh, no, no, yes, absolutely. And this is where I think this year, with a couple of cases I just brought up, I think it becomes a very interesting case study of our voters just going to be lazy as hell and go to those stats every year or some narrative going to work its way.
How widely available is clutch award? It's a great question. I would say probably about half the sports books, half of them. Yeah, but like the bit, the bit most of the big ones are posting. Okay. Can you put down a solid bet on it? That's a good question. I don't know. Okay. I don't know about 75 to one is 75 to one, but I just want it out right. Look at down to clutch. Okay. Real quick. Jackson Churio. I brought this up earlier. I just wanted to confirm it. Jackson Churio is going on the IL for the Milwaukee Brewers. This is like a big deal. Um, not like a big deal is a big deal. He's out two to four weeks with a hand fracture. Um, Brewers placing Churio on the 10 day injured list Thursday. Welcome back, baseball Churio was hit on the left hand by a pitch while playing an exhibition game with team Venezuelan in the world baseball classic back on March 4th. There you go. World baseball classic risk. Now they did win the world baseball classic. So I'm sure Churio will be like it was all worth it. He returned to action a few days later, but a recent MRI revealed a hairline fracture at
the base of his third metacarpal per Todd rosiac of the Milwaukee journal journal Sentinel. So Churio is expected once again to be sideline two to four weeks for the Milwaukee Brewers. So, you know, could be worse, it'd be longer than that. Oh, we were covers quickly, but there you go. Does it have to be how many names like who are the names that that would get injured in the world baseball classic and we'd have serious conversations about whether this would continue. Oh my God. The entire the entire Dominican Republic roster, the entire USA roster. Most of the Venezuelan roster as far as I mean, like if Aaron judge got hurt, he'd be the first person. I think was Paul schemes. Any of the pictures tear schoolable Paul schemes, I mean, Logan Webb, if you're a Giants failed last night, didn't show it. But yeah, judge was the first name that popped in my mind, but like, I mean, that entire that Kelly, the entire entire Dominican Republic lineup was was so stacked.
I want to get it. No, I know. I guess my point with Jackson, Churio is like, okay, that sucks. It is. Is this a big enough of deal though for the for us to like everybody loved the world baseball classic, right? It's going to be coming back. I know we've heard reports from teams not being happy about some of their players being involved. When this when does this become a serious friction point between Major League baseball? Well, in the world baseball, I mean, it's really not Major League baseball, it's the teams themselves. It's the teams themselves. First of all, with Derek Scoobal, it was his contract, right? He's guys on the cusp of this massive contract, just for personal standpoint, he's like, I'm not risking anything. I think we all that would make sense. Stafford, right? Right. But I mean, the pirates are like, okay, you can pitch schemes, but like relax on it, right? But I mean, any of these guys, the entire Dominican lineup was Fernando Tatees, Catel Marte, Juan Soto, Vlad Guerrero, Jr., Mani Machado, Jr., Caminero, Julio Rodriguez. I mean, any one of those guys, those teams are outraged if they get hurt badly, right? Yeah. I guess my question is how many of these guys need to get hurt before there's a serious
issue. I think it's, I think it's always going to be an issue, but you're right. I mean, what's the tipping point? I don't know. Okay. Three. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I think it's more the length of the injury than it is the number. Right. I don't know. I agree. I'm sure two to four weeks is going to. Well, my point doesn't think it's the name, too. Right. I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I like to have a judge, something happened to judge and he missed the first half of a season. He's right. Yeah. And it's, there's a lot more outrage. It's my political cataclysmic, sure, but it's always a risk. But man, can't replace the excitement. They like to just, oh, it's awesome. Yeah. It's great. All right. Survivor real quick. Kelly and I are in a big survivor pool. Hopefully you're still alive and yours there. That's proof right there because Kelly just pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket for a week. Right. This is all we really care about in life is survivor over three thousand entries. We don't know the exact number because it's the last a rebye before the sweet 16.
Once the sweet 16 star snow will revise right. So it's going to be over three thousand entries when all is said and done. I'm in three hundred and forty third, Kelly's a little behind that way. Anyway, the point is, is that we're still alive, but. And the butt isn't capital letters because you are in a tiebreaker, right? Even if you get to the end, let's say you, you have planned it, you have teams left, you get to the end. But if you finish in 50th, you know, so what? So you got to take chances because the tiebreaker is the sum of the seeds that you played. I have already used Texas. So for me tonight, the only play, the only play because if I have any chance at all, I don't know, even if I do this and I get, and I'm successful, even if it works, I'm not even sure if I can get to the promised land because we'll see how the cookie crumbles with everybody else's picks. But I have no choice but to take number nine seed, Iowa tonight, number nine seed, number nine seed, Iowa tonight against Nebraska. It's also by the way, based on the betting line, right? It's also perhaps the proper choice anyway, even if I wasn't compelled to take it.
I think I might take it anyway. I like Iowa in this matchup against Nebraska. I certainly wouldn't take anything in the Illinois Houston game. I've already used Texas, right? I don't want to waste Purdue and I wouldn't take anything in the Arkansas, Arizona game. So for me, it's clearly Iowa tonight. And then tomorrow, it's a six seeded Tennessee team because I don't want to waste Michigan. I'm not playing Michigan State Connecticut. I'm certainly not playing St. John's Duke. So to me, it actually, the pool is happening to me. I'm not happening to the pool. It's just number nine, Iowa tonight, number six, Tennessee tonight. If I'm lucky enough to get through both of those, we'll regroup Saturday morning. You? Okay. So we are in, you just want to know if you should play Texas tonight or Iowa opposite positions. Yes. Because I have like, I have Tennessee off the board. So it's not a consideration. If I get through today, I have no idea what I'm doing tomorrow. I think today it's pretty, it's pretty clean. I'm either going Iowa or Texas if you were in my shoes, which would you go with? I'd go with Iowa. I was a one, I was a one and a half point dog in Texas.
I was a seven and a half point dog. Like the seating matters for you and I, I mean, the contest that we're in, those two points, those two points could be the difference theoretically, but it's a one point dog versus a seven point dog. It's also, I don't know if we're getting there anyway, but I'm just saying, I, if I'm a you, I'd probably still play Iowa. Let's go. Hot guys. That was my initial thought. So let's not forget to put in our picks for the, you know, Vs and bracket challenge, though. And my survivors were two games back and the survivor. I should do that as well. Numbers game. You're here because you want an edge. That's what separates listeners from winners, but let's be real mindset alone. Happy coming the King of March. We get tweets going. Beat in the book. Joe. This is from Brian M. I'm still tripping over the McCovie Cova. Imagine. Is that a little McCovie Cova? Brian M. If the Vegas basketball team has a player who wants to wear zero, they should have to be double zero triple zero in honor of the city's current demographics of the red tables. I agree with that.
This is from no EMU Doug who wins MVF, most valuable flopper SGA LeBron or Wembee. Wow. They get shots at everybody. Trojan Ram has a team name. Oh, that's that's SGA to answer that question. SGA is the best out of the flopper. Well, I mean, answer the question. I mean, it's a question. Fowl merchant. That's what they call Las Vegas 1 800. Okay. I'm not sure I can read that one. Las Vegas 514. Yo, have you ever been in a kayak? I can see it now. A kayak made from flex seal, open top button of shirt, clear frames. You don't get a ball. Maybe you'll see a Gilligan. Well done. Got everything in there. Yeah. That was well done. Ronnie Rojo. Ronnie Red. Coachella outside lands. Bottle Rock summer jam. Nah. The only lineup I want to see is a tankabalooza. That's right. Ronnie Rojo. Ryan Klaus, Joshi and phenomenal guest used to talk on another show that he loved to listen to. We have Joshi and coming up momentarily.
Mike Alvarez. Been pouring through the, I think you've been pouring through the box score from yesterday's Giant Yankees game. Here are my big takeaways. Judges on pace for 648 strikeouts. Logan Webb is on pace to give up 30 touchdowns and the Giants are in pace for zero and 162. Not very magical. Yep. All that's true. Colin Murphy. You know, has the third best clutch time stats behind SGA and Ant and I don't see a number hung on him anywhere. Jalen Johnson. And I think the narrative is there if he doesn't win most improved with how well they have played recently. Okay. Interesting. Look, I got a lot of, like, this could be a miracle over on the Atlanta Hawks getting home if they somehow keep winning games that they have no, uh, no business winning or, you know, keep beating up on these really easy tanking teams. Uh, I like Jalen Johnson a lot. I think I don't think the Atlanta Hawks are going to get much love, uh, in the awards markets. I don't believe this Nikelia Alexander Walker or steam really and most improved either. Yeah. Mike Lee. Mikey P. Mike Provin. Says, uh, what would your play be in survivor tonight?
If points didn't matter and you just had to pick winners, the pool I'm in chops at the end. Mikey, I see you still, regardless of if there's a summation of points as a tiebreaker, you still have to have teams available at the end, right? Elite eight, final four championship game. And this is the time where you really want to kind of figure out who's going to lose the next round after you pick them, right? It wasn't as big a deal in the round of 64, round of 32. So I still think I would play Iowa. Yeah. Points didn't matter because I'd want to preserve all the other teams. Yeah. I would do it. I think. Yep. Uh, and then, uh, JSA 723 odds on crack man saying knock around guy today minus 800 minus 800 hashtag on scripted with the crack man. Thank you for that. I think we have to recap the bets because we got Joe, she and Dr. Bob and Bill coming up. Yeah. Let's do it. Uh, today, my only tennis play and I gave this out yesterday, Carolina Mojoba, most artistic, most beautiful, uh, artistry style of playing tennis, great volunteer.
She's such an aesthetically pleasing player to watch. I'm on Mojoba, not for a thing of those reasons, but her hard court numbers are spectacular. And just like, uh, we played her the day before yesterday against Victoria and Boko playing her against Coco today, baseball today. Yes. I'm making a baseball play. It's like old times pirates, first five pirates, money line, it's Paul schemes. And I think, uh, the pirates are, these are really good prices. I mean, the concept, the conventional wisdom is the pirates, not that great bets really good. I think that's helping us with this line here today in addition to it being schemes. I think you got to play the buckos today. First five minus one, 13 full game plus 104, uh, Joe Pita has both of these bullpen's rated equally pirates and bets. Tomorrow night, taking the touchdown took seven against, uh, took seven with them against Duke. That's my only pre-flop ATS play in college hoops in the sweet 16. The rest is all about survivor and then baseball, just some, you know, again, reds most
wins by the end of April 35 to one blue jays from yesterday last team to lose a regular season game 11 to one blue jays don't start till tomorrow back to college hoops total number one seed tournament wins over 14 and a half Kelly. I must have Michigan, Arizona and Duke all win their sweet 16 games. If any of them lose, I'm toast. It's a loser. But if they, if all three win, then I can, I can absorb a loss after that, okay, based on bracket format, also have you kind of win the national championships. It's the only, it's the only future play I made in in college hoops. I don't feel great about it, but it's there. Also because it is opening day and major league baseball, just a reminder on these guardians under 80 and a half wins is my first season win total play that I made and that was quickly followed by the Rangers over 83 and a half wins. So guardians under 80 and a half Rangers over 83 and a half McKenzie Gore of the Rangers was my Sai Young play at 40 to one and then Logan Webb doesn't look so good after yesterday. Does it got Logan Webb most regular season wins plus 14 78s, almost 15 to one.
I remember it was 20 to one when I first brought this up is 15 to one ish is where I got this and let me just say it again, Logan Webb for as bad as he looked yesterday, even if he had pitched well, guess what the Giants did for him offensively zero, which is always it's just it's amazing how that happens with him. So Giants got to got to do better Giants magic just around the corner. I'm sure you sir, you're baseball. I do. No NBA for me tonight, although if you caught the conversation earlier, I'm looking at the Pelicans, I'll see where that number goes today, though, Dejante Murray, trade Murphy, both questionable for that game tonight, exact at a good job of detailing the all the minutes logged by the pistons and that overtime loss last night. So looking at Pelicans, no play yet for me, though, we'll be up at visa.com if I do end up on it. A couple baseball futures, win totals, the Orioles over 85 and a half wins and Orioles to win the AL East plus four 20 made those yesterday. Well, a lot of people on the O's this year.
Yep, just just tailing along, you know, I'm missing a nice, clean looking Orioles hat in my life. So like that's, you know, I got to add that to that. Okay. When you say this, those of us who grew up as Orioles fans, you're getting the old smiley face bird. Sure. Yes. Don't do that. Yeah. Don't do the don't do the Roberto Alamar era full bird. Do the face. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. So make it sure. I'm just going to go to Lids upstairs, Lids, all right, college hoops, both tonight, Texas, plus eight Houston, Lane, two and a half. And your survivor play is Iowa officially just submitted. Justin Paul. I got to remember to submit. You're submitted. I shall submit. Zach Cohen was here earlier. I he's a lot. He's parlay crazy. This kid. Pornitz, alt plus eight and a half versus the Knicks paired with the Pelicans alt line plus 10 and a half versus the pistons tonight. That's a minus one 30 cost in the NBA.
And he's on Maxime Raynaud over 15 and a half points versus the magic tonight. This might be my favorite. This might be my favorite thing going on in the season right now. Is Zach Cohen picking King's bigs to bet props on that you like guess what you like. These guys, you've probably never heard of before and you might not hear of again after this season. Host of hardwood handy capers. Zach Cohen. Uh, then in college, who sweet 16 parlay for him, Arizona and Arkansas, excuse me, Arizona pardon me and Purdue, Arizona versus Arkansas, Purdue versus Texas, the Arizona Purdue parlay, money line parlay minus 142 is the cost of that Houston, then straight money line versus Illinois. So he's not laying the two and a half with Houston. He's playing the cougars on the money line minus 144 versus Illinois in a big two three ballgame tonight. And Zach, it does have three tennis plays in Miami. He is on Carolina, Mojoba as am I versus cocoa golf. So we match on that. He also took you lay in a Rebokina versus Arena, Sabalinka in the other semi and then on
the men's side in the quarter that isn't the Yonic center quarter match today. He's on Francisco Serundilo, who we hit on the other day, plus one and a half sets and a little sprinkle on the money line versus Sasha's verif from what did he call a Serundilo? Mr. 305. Yeah. Miami area code. And I mentioned that when I played Serundilo the other day, that Serundilo just loves this tournament. It's a great there. So Serundilo plus one and a half sets from Zach and a little sprinkle on the money line. Can we show this before we go to commercial and get to Joe Sheen and Dr. Bob and Bill Crackenberger. This is what I started the show by saying best two things that happened in the baseball game. We're very bonds telling his story about how we almost ended up with the Aggies and that right there. Look at that. So awesome. Smoke American flag. First of all, look at Sanvers. Just take in San Francisco. Would you? Look at that. I need to see the beginning. Like 18. I don't understand how it starts. So how does this work? So Chris Foster says that's got to be a drone or that it looks like you're getting explosions right? But like they're all there.
It just appears. Yeah. How many times do you think they practice that? Like I can't in this day in Asia. I can't tell if that's like yeah, drone. First of all, look at this. Look at this. Look at the size of that thing. Absolutely beautiful. Opening day as it should be done at Oracle yesterday in San Francisco. Are they projectiles that are all being launched up at the same time? Like I have no idea. I don't know. You can ponder that on commercial. How about that? I'm going to Google it. Joe, she and on baseball and sweet 16 next. Dr. Bob on the sweet 16. It's a numbers game right here at Basin. A special numbers game investigation reveals that baseball season is heating up. Here. And Vincent Pro just made it a whole lot more profitable with MLB AI player pro projections powered by Opta AI. We're giving you a day that driven projections for both hitters and pitchers compared directly to draft King's lines. So you know exactly where the value is and every day we bring it all down into the top value plays in strong place. So you don't have to do the heavy lifting got that Kelly top value plays as one category.
Got it. Strong plays a second category. And then I don't have to lift things. You do not have to lift good. Well, nothing heavy. Nothing. Access now with the visa and pro subscription at visa.com slash MLB props. Check that out. I like Santa Kelly. Yes. Circus is setting up all their opening day festivities behind us right now. Yeah. Look, they got the bunting going. You see this? Yeah. They always got the bunting just off screen. The little little pitching setup. They always do a little first pitch for the season. The bunting feels like a mic palm touch, doesn't it? That feels like something. It could be. Is that Jonathan Vontobel on camera down there doing working for his other job. Other radio. Man has another job. Yeah. Local, local. Yes, being Las Vegas. Yep. Do shows down there for him. There's a chili cheese dog stand down there. Yeah. I'm wondering what time it opens up. Oh, how early is too early to have a chili cheese dog? What time do we get off? 10 o'clock. I think that's appropriate time to get one before them. We should probably. Yeah. I don't know if he gets the tingles every time a majorly baseball season opens.
By the way, numbers game brought you by prophet X. We should point out. Sign up now. Scan the QR code for more. I don't know if he gets as excited as he always does for a opening day, major league baseball. And yes, I know there was a game last night, but we will find out now if he does from Joe Sheen, the author of the Joe Sheen newsletter, kind enough to join us on this opening day courtesy of the progressive guest line Joe, the excitement still there after all these years. Oh, absolutely. I mean, this is a holiday and this is one of the great days of the year and you mentioned last night. It was great to watch a game last night. But today is opening day. We've got 11 games from one o'clock here until after midnight, the Guardians, Mariners games. So it's going to be a lot of fun. And you know, as I said earlier, it kicks off this 186 day run where we just get our game every day. It's different than any other sports season to me because it is there every single day. Whether you're gambling or just a fan, you just love the game that that constancy is what makes it. And I don't think that's a word that is what makes it great. Yeah, we understood. Think about that though, 162 games for each of these teams in 184 days span of majorly
baseball. Before we get to your picks, and I know you have some sweet 16 plays as well because the man isn't just pigeonholed into baseball. He loves himself some basketball. You are doing some gaming stuff this year. You are doing some Joshi and betting baseball stuff. Yeah, I appreciate you mentioning that yesterday. I've been running a gaming adjunct to the main Joshi and baseball newsletter for four years now. You know, go back to 2018 when Paspo went through and this just becomes something that people enjoy. Some fans really enjoy whether it's they're playing themselves and they just enjoy the content. So starting in 2022, excuse me, 2023, I started running a free gaming adjunct to the main newsletter. You have to be a subscriber to the newsletter to get it. But I run 120 issues a year, maybe three to four times a week with picks and also concepts and talking about, you know, what's the best way to do this? Talk about issues within the industry a little bit, although I have leaned more towards picks. But yeah, if you're a subscriber to the main newsletter, you can sign up for this one as well. It's, you know, it's at the first, I want to say the sixth edition came out today.
I did a bunch of futures in January and Mark sent out those to people and today we start picking games. I love it. I'm the best place for folks to sign up for all of this is where Joshi and calm. You'll find an archive there with like 25s, 33 issues. There's excerpts from everything that I do. There's a couple of free pieces this week, my opening day piece, some team capsules from the team season preview, Joshi and calm and get all that and also tell you how to sign up. Okay. I lied. One more thing before we get to the picks because I'm so curious about this. Was there any of your purist baseball subscribers who once you started doing the gaming thing sent you like a clutch my pearls email or like, I can't believe you're doing this betting stuff, Joe. Was there anybody? Did you get any of that? I wouldn't that that's a little dismissive to friends that that way. I will say that there were objections, which is one reason I set it up like this. There was I want to say the fall of 2022. I put some of this into the main newsletter and I did get some pushback. Now there are people who for their own reasons stay away from gambling content and I have
to respect that. And you got to remember, Gil, this is baseball, you know, baseball fans were told for a hundred years. This is bad. And then in 20, 20, 18, 2019, it was like, yay, go gamble on baseball and I think there's some whiplash there and there are older fans who are, you know, really still believe in that. This should be nowhere near the game. So I really wanted to respect that. So I found this solution to have a, the main newsletter, maybe I do one piece a year where I put props in there and then I put all the gaming content separately because you really, there are people who don't want chocolate in their peanut butter, I really want to respect that. Yeah. You don't want to mix chocolate in your peanut butter, Kelly. I did. But sometimes it tastes good. If you know what I mean, Joe. Sometimes it tastes good. All right. Let's get to your plays today. I want to start with Cubs and the Nats. What do you got here? Yeah. This is chasing what I think is going to be an all time terrible bullpen and in DC, they're in a rebuilding mode and when you're in a rebuilding mode, you just don't have to care about your bullpen. They've got Clayton Beater, the former Yankee and Dodger prospects, probably their best
reliever. He's going to be their saves guy. But overall, this is going to be a bad bullpen. I normally wouldn't target team totals for a home favorite because you're usually only going to get eight at bass. It's Chicago. You might get some bad weather late in this game as well. But that bullpen is so bad, I have no problem projecting that the Cubs can get three runs off it after chasing Kate Cavalli out of the game. And if you're sitting there in game, you might have an opportunity to take it at three and a half team total, even two and a half, depending on how well Cavalli pitches in the first half of the game. But this is targeting a terrible Nats bullpen, Cubs over to four and a half runs. Day game and rigly. Let's go to the Tigers and the Padres tonight at Petco. What are you playing here? Yeah, how often are you really going to get Tarek Scoobal at minus 130? And that's the lowest number I saw on him. This is a Padres team that's going to struggle to score runs. They improved the offense mid season last year, but they really didn't do anything this winter to make it any better. Going up against Nick Pavello, who guys, very great story, great story last year. They sent him to this really weird four-year deal that was a one-year deal with a bunch of opt-outs. He went out and had a career year.
But the fifth, the fielding independent pitching, was about two-thirds of a run higher than his actual ERA. So we're directing some aggression out of him this year. The big pitching gap is what I'm taking the Tigers at minus 130. All right, the angels at the Astros, Astros a big favorite here on opening day. I don't think you're going to see a whole lot of runs scored in this one. These are two bottom ten offenses for me in baseball. The Astros again, heavily right handed. Oh, is they Soriano, great roundball pitcher, kind of an underrated guy, he's in a 3.7, 3.5 last year. He's not a number one, but he's the angels number one. I want to stay away from both of these bullpins as well. So I was able to find an under four first five innings at plus money at bed MGM. So again, the first five under, maybe you want to get a four on a quarter, pay the extra. It should be 4.5, pay the extra juice. But I think that's going to be a very low scoring game for the first half. Okay. And those are the three plays then. Cubs team total over four and a half versus the nationals. Tigers with Terrick Scoobal on the hill versus the Padres minus 130 won't die. I think Joe's right. A shorter price on Scoobal, perhaps all year.
And then the angels, Astros first five under four there in Houston tonight plus 105. All right, it is the sweet 16. We were talking a little bit about this off air. You weren't all about baseball all the time. You have a basketball background as well, which you can share with us, which was interesting to me because it was like an all-star team of guys over at when you were doing basketball. Perspectives was it at the end of the 2000s and then the odds over there. And you like to go back with college basketball to the 80s. I was in fifth grade when the St. John's had those great teams with Chris Mullin and Bill Winnington, you know, to Mark Jackson, Walter Barry. So that's where I came by my love of college basketball. And then I went to USC when Harold Minor was there. So I've been loving the game for a long time. In the late 2000s, I've fallen my final years at Perspectives. We actually started basketball Perspectives. Had a couple of annuals. We had a website. Some great talent there. Kevin Pelton who's now with the SPN. John Gassaway who was with SPN for a while. Ken Pomeroy who's like the biggest thing in college basketball now made a great group of guys there. Did that for a couple of years. So, you know, when I started the gaming outlet, it gave me an opportunity to do some
college basketball work each March. And again, it's for casuals. I'm not, I'm, you know, a fraction of guy like Todd Wischner of the intelligence that he has or Greg Peterson, some of the great college basketball guests that you have. But I enjoyed doing it for my audience. We went 14 and 9 over the weekend. So that was nice. Yeah, a couple of picks for tonight. The one I really, really like here is the, the over in this Arizona game. We saw Arkansas give up 78 points to Hawaii. We saw him give up 88 to high point. I don't think they're going to be able to stop Arizona. I think this is going to be something on the lines of 90 to 80. Okay. So that's, you said over 165 and a half. Is that your play in the Arkansas Arizona game? That's good. I want you to do that. Yeah. Okay. And then you have another play tonight as well. Yeah. I know a lot of people are on the Align Eye and this number is bounced around a lot. You know, they've looked very good. But to me, Houston is, is actually my pick for the national championship. I want to stay away from the line here. It's like, say it's bounced around. It was two and a half this morning. Just give me the money line at 160. It's a big price to pay. But I don't know how Illinois stops that Houston back court.
I think they can go shot for shot here. And I expect used to lock them down in the second half and get the win. Okay. Tomorrow night, you have a play on Alabama and Michigan. Yeah, I don't know how either one of these scenes really stops each other. Michigan's been good defensively. Even without Aiden Holloway, Alabama has a really dangerous offense. They're going to throw up a bunch of threes. I expect this game to get into the high 80s as well. So lined in 172 and a half today, give me that and, you know, expecting Alabama to push this game into the 90s, even. I actually have Alabama going to the final four. So I think this is actually the one of the best games of the weekend. Let's go. Let's go, Alabama to the final four Houston, Millett and company. Joe, a pleasure, um, first pitch, uh, the meds and the pirates and just, uh, let's say an hour and a half. Enjoy. Thanks so much for coming on. One hour, 34 minutes, 22 seconds. I thought I'm counting that. That's your county. Thank you so much. Appreciate the time. Josie. Thanks for all of his news letter information. If you want to sign up there, Dr. Bob, all the sweet 16.

All right, enough to chat. Let's get to it. Let's get to it. Floor is yours. All right. I'm going to start with a play on, on Houston have a one unit play on Houston minus the back down to two and a half juiced against Illinois. My NCAA tournament ratings only include gains in its quality opponent that throw at all the mismatches. That hurts Illinois a little bit given that the line I were relatively better against bad teams this season. Houston for the first time in memory was actually a little bit better relatively against better teams than they were against bad teams that's normally not the case. And usually why I have them a little bit down in my NCAA tournament ratings. This year they are a little bit better against better teams. So that just helps them a little bit as far as line value goes.
Also, there's a significant advantage playing in their home city teams playing NCAA tournament games in their home state are 58% against the spread over decades. On the advantage playing the home city is a little bit more than that. With that included with my ratings, I favor Houston by four and a half points in this game. So there's some solid line value there. Also, one of Illinois's strengths is that they don't send their opponents to the line. They're ranked first in the nation by a wide margin in the fewest opponents free throws allowed per a hundred possessions. That's a problem for teams that depend on free throws as a big part of the offense. However, Houston's often doesn't depend on free throws. Two percent number three hundred and fifty one in the nation in offensive free throw rate. But they don't care that Illinois doesn't operate this is they don't depend on free throws Illinois is twenty six and eight this season. But the line are just seven and five straight up and four and eight against the spread against teams that rank lower than number two twenty five in the nation in offensive free throw weight.
Three throw rate three of those wins were Texas Rio grand Florida Gold Coast and Colgate. So against better teams, they're they're four and five straight up against teams that don't depend on free throws. Also, Illinois's O and four straight up at O and four against the spread against opponents that rank in the top fifty in the nation in two points field gold defense. Houston ranks number nine in two point defense. So I like to match up. I have some rating value for Houston is one unit play at minus three and a half or less. And right now it's minus two and a half minus fifteen. You could play there on. Next I'm going to go to the opinion a half unit play on happy to plan for do minus seven and happy in Texas. Purdue ranked eight in the nation and three point shooting boiler makers are susceptible to being upset when they're outside shots shots aren't falling at a high rate. However, Texas ranks two hundred and fifty third in the nation and three point defense. They do not defend the three point very well. Purdue is fourteen and oh straight up against teams that rank higher than a hundred and fifty at the three point defense all fourteen of those wins were by seven or more thirteen of the fourteen by eight or more.
Boilermakers are nine and five against spread of those games compared to eight fourteen and one against the spread against teams that rank in the top one fifty and three point defense of stopping the three is what you need to do to beat Purdue. Texas does not do this now produce weakness is there two point defense they rank 244th in the nation and two point defense. But the boiler makers don't allow a lot of two point shots they force teams to shoot three pointers forty four percent of opponents shots are from beyond the art that's that's a high percentage. Purdue also doesn't send their opponents to the line much as they rank seventh in the nation and lowest free throw attempt rate on defense. Now Texas only twenty six percent of Texas points come from three point shots which is three hundred third in the nation. So being forced to take more three pointers is likely a disadvantage for the long horns who break much higher and two point shooting. Texas also ranks twenty eighth and percentage of their points that come from free throws and then I say get those easy points against a Purdue team that ranks eighth and eighth lowest in points allowed via the free throw line.
So this is not a great match for the Texas often looks like C.J. Cox is going to play for Purdue after leaving the last game with a minor knee hyper extension. My ratings favor Purdue by seven point eight point so it's not like this is a line value places a line is seven and a half some places have eight. The reason for the play is one point six points worth of statistical profile indicators now during the term there are certain types of teams that played better than expected and they said. They built and did a lot of time and types of teams that play relatively worse based on their statistical characteristics which which have been isolated. So there's a one point six points of statistical profile indicated is a pretty huge advantage in favor of Purdue. Obviously Texas has played well in this tournament but Purdue profiled of the team that should perform better than expected in this tournament based on their statistical profile. So a half unit play on Purdue based on the statistical profile indicators. The next game I thought was most interesting match. I don't have a play on it. It's a lean on Arizona minus eight against Arkansas Arkansas.
Very good offensive team. They're ranked 15th in the nation and effective field goal percentage. They're ranked first and lowest turnover percentage overall. They're the fifth best offensive team in compensated points per possession. You know, relative to the teams you face defensively Arizona. However, number one in the nation and effective field goal percentage defense. And Arkansas is o and three against teams that rank in the top 15 in effective field goal defense losing by an average of 17 points to Duke number nine in in in E of G defense. Houston number 11 and Florida number 12 Arizona. Meanwhile, four no straight up to four no against the spread against team that rank in the top 10 in compensated offensive efficiency. That's Alabama, Florida and Houston twice. They covered the spread and all four of those games. The wild kept do not sacrifice good defensive position to force turnovers. So teams that don't turn the ball over much don't really affect them. So Arkansas, the fact that they don't turn the ball or it doesn't really matter because Arizona doesn't try to turn over teams.
And as unbeaten in 13, 13 games in teams that rank in the top 100 and lowest offensive turnover percentage, including three and oh against teams that rank in the top 10 and lowest turn of a rate, which is Houston twice in Alabama. The matchup really works for Arizona's offense. Arkansas is a horrible two point defense. They allow 54% on shots inside the arc, which is number 282 75 in the nation. Calipari teams always make sure teams don't beat them with three point shots and they're very good in three point defense, but they'll allow teams to get inside the arc and convert for on those shots. However, only 27% of Arizona shots are from beyond the arc, which ranks 360 third in the nation out of 365 teams Arizona doesn't want to shoot three pointers. They want to get inside and punish you inside the arc and they shoot 50 they get 57% of their points from two point makes, which is 14th most in the nation. So facing a defense that is terrible and two point defense is ideal for the wild cat and raise your back to good three point defense is not really an issue given that Arizona doesn't focus on taking three point shots.
I really like the match up there also, you know, speaking so the two things offense and defense. I don't think this is a great match up for Arkansas. The team most similar to Arizona that Arkansas face this season is Florida. Florida is an efficient two point shooting team that doesn't depend on three point shots. There are 320 in the nation and percentage of points that come from three point shots and Florida played good defense without trying to force turnovers. The number seven and defensive rating despite ranking just 269th in turn over force per possession. So very similar to Arizona said Arizona better than Florida Arkansas played Florida once they lost 77 to 111. I don't think this game is going to be that ugly, but the matchups clearly play favorite Arizona and I'm going to lean with Arizona minus eight despite not having any line die on the game really. I favor Arizona about eight and a half. So a lean on Arizona based on the matchups and if we have time, I've got a lean on Iowa plus the one and a half against Nebraska.
This goes back to the statistical profile indicators. I always a team with the characteristics of a team that tend to perform their rating in the incidentally tournament. They have 1.2 points worth of statistical profile indicators in this game. When they beat Florida, they had a 2.1 point advantage in statistical profile indicators hitting into the game against Florida and the upset the gators. Now some might think there might be a let down from a number nine seed after beating a number one seed, but interestingly enough, teams that beat a number one seed as an underdog of more than four points. If you exclude other number one seed, those teams are 36, 14 and one against the spread and their next tournament game. So I'm not too worried about a let down here is maybe it's more of an indicator that Iowa is the team to look out for. So I'm going to lean with Iowa plus the one and a half against Nebraska in that game. Good talk, Bob. Good catch it up with you. That was outstanding. Yeah. Wow. Glad I could find out what's going on in your guys' lives. All right, to recap, Houston is a play Purdue is a half unit play and then leans, but not plays on Arizona and Iowa.
