You never seen it least so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween. Listen to artists on artists on artists on artists every Thursday on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I choose option B. I'm Julie Pinero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility. Listen to Solita on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I survived nine months in captivity and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart and these are the survivor files. Every week I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable, abducted, stalked, controlled and nearly silenced. These are stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the survivor files with the Elizabeth Smart on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. I talk to homeowners all the time. And what's the one thing many homeowners have but rarely think about? It's equity. It's something that can quietly grow over time while you're busy living your life. And for many homeowners, it can be an opportunity they haven't explored. Whether you're planning home improvements or preparing for whatever comes next, your home's equity may be able to help you. It's important to understand what's available and to find out the right option that fits your goals. For me, I wanted to put a pool in my backyard and finish my basement. I didn't have the money available, so I went to Stockton's mortgage. They found the equity that already built up in my house was able to use to install my pool and finish the basement. I would have been able to do it without them. A Stockton mortgage that walk you through the possibilities. Answer your questions and help you understand your next step. If it's been a while since you've looked into your home's value, now might be a great time to start the conversation.

Keep coming and giving all the nice comments. One person says, Matt, BubbaDub is huge. My kids love BubbaDub. I think it's an awesome gift for Mario to get BubbaDub. That's good to see. I feel so old here and about BubbaDub. I have no idea who that is. Those words don't mean anything. But if the younger guys do, who's the image of it? Yeah. By the way, Shannon, tell me about the whiskey thief there. Yeah, the whiskey thief listening room, which we've done some radio shows there at Nanny Goatstretch. Just 10 minutes up the road.
You can walk from that location to sluggerfield. If you're planning on coming out to the game later on, they've got live music every day. And when you go to that location, just like the other location on the farm, you can do the whiskey thief. You can take out the whiskey and fill your own bottle. So it's a whole experience when you go there. Great location. Check it out there. A new lieu just 10 minutes from sluggerfield. All right. Before we go back to phones, a couple things. Did you all see Ellie, Deila Cruz? First of all, he's hit homeruns in five straight games. The red stink. But Ellie is crazy, huh? Ellie's like showing all his Ellie-ness. But that's not what I'm going to talk about is his five straight games with the homerun. Drew, did you see him catch the bird with his hands? Oh, no. I did not see him catching any birds. You need to look at this video. So there was a bird. And I guess the bird was not quite able to fly. I don't know why. Maybe it was tired. Maybe it was a little baby. I just look kind of big, though. So it didn't look like a baby bird to me. It looked like a normal-sized bird. But for whatever reason, it was not like taking off and fine.
And- Collar turrets. Yes, exactly. And they were trying to get it off the field. But they couldn't get it off the field. So Ellie came out and just with two hands, just caught it and picked it up and took it away. Like he was like the bird whisperer. He caught the bird with his hands. And it was funny. It was running away from everybody else. But then Ellie came and was just like, the bird was like, okay, I'm home now. This works. Have you seen? Look, look at that video. I'm looking at it right now. There's one of the players that's just kind of flipping it with his hat. Yeah. The birds trying to stand up. And then here comes Ellie, Ryan and I are watching it right now. And just picks it up. Just scooped it right up. Scooped it up. Are you- Is that impressive? Like is it- I kind of feel like it's hard to catch a bird, isn't it? Or I mean, we've had birds in KS Bar. You know what I mean? We've had a lot of them on the boat. I mean, we've had a lot of them on the boat. We've had a lot of them on the boat. We've had a lot of them on the boat. I mean, we've had a lot of them on the boat. He just bare handed it to the bird. Yeah. I use the YouTube video. That usually gets them. I don't know. He had a glove on. He chased it down.
He went in with purpose. The bad boy looked a little hesitant. You just gotta get in there and get it. Ellie had gloves on, but they were like batting gloves. But still he was able to grab it. I just didn't know that you could like just like go up and get a bird. I thought- You can. It's better than two in the bush. But it's true. It's true, Shannon. I mean, two birds. Don't birds have like diseases? A lot of them do. A lot of them have lice. So lice. That's what lice have. Some birds, they all get lice. I hate to get lice from a bird. That bird, they had the flu. But sort of humans, true. That bird, like it was injured or something. It wasn't flying away. I've never heard of bird lice. What is bird lice? I don't know, but there's birds that have lice. But there's humans that have lice. Yes. I used to have to get checked for lice. I need to look up. Yeah, I'm with Matt. I need Matt. I need more of this. And also the fact that Ryan said he didn't know what it was. But you're the one that suggested it. Bird lice.
All right, I'm looking at bird lice. OK. A bird louse is a chewing louse. Is lice plural of louse? Or did you just make up bird lice? I don't know. I just grew up my whole life that don't be putting the bird. Don't pick up a bird because I think you might have lice. And you'll get lice. You taste a lot of birds. I grew up in the country. Yeah. Oh, well, Indiana. So bird lice is not a thing. We're all learning. I need a definitive answer here. Yes, it is a thing. OK. Bird lice is a chewing louse. So a louse, well, I can get it. Is that plural for lice? I don't know. Is there a lice plural for louse, maybe? Maybe. Well, it says a bird louse is any chewing louse that is on birds. It feeds on their feathers or skin. Yeah. It says it is very difficult to transmit to humans. That's because we stay away from it. We don't pick them up.
That's why you can't transmit it. That's a lot of difficult to get away. Are you saying that LA Dala Cruz has bird louse now? Well, he was protected. He had a glove. He's on the engine loose. And his gloves on scooped it up, kept it away. Day to day with bird louse. OK. I don't know if I believe Ryan's bird lice. But I will say I didn't know that bird louse that louse may be different than lice. And lice may be the plural of louse. The cousins. They're in the louse family. Go to the website, right? Go to the website, louse.com. Everything you need to know, be right there. birdlice.com. Let me out. OK. I got to see what bird lice comes in. A bird is an open domain, right? Let's see bird lice. There's no way. There's no way. What do you get on birdlice.com? Nothing. There's no way. That's still coming up. Bebidden, 403. Forbidden. OK. You get all that. Shannon, do me a favor. We have someone wanting to call in. Will you text me real quick the number for them to call in?
Rick, be ready to answer this, OK? OK. Yeah. 359-288-0-2287. No, wait. We don't have an open line. Give me the other one, OK? OK. Yeah, let me see if I can find that real quick for you. Yeah. OK. Cool. All right, let's go to the phones. Noah is coming. Noah, go ahead. Noah. Hey, man. Thank you guys for taking my call. Two things for you. First, with the football game. I remember a little while back. You guys talked kind of a conversation about what it would look like, because with other SEC opponents, you got the cool walkouts they bring in, like the live-in, and what like Texas, with a long, long bowl, and the things like that. And you're kind of coming up by the ideas from stuff. I know we're taking this probably pretty far-fetched and logistically. I have no idea on any way with work. Maybe you just put a lot of different things for it. But how ethic would it be for us to have when we do the walkout of the Alabama game, for Alabama fans, to see our coaching staff and kick in, honorary captains, with the walkout video of Craig Yees,
holding up the boom box, Tim Cous, with his extra small shirt, and then Will Stein walked in out with the live-wild cat on the house. It would be awesome. I would say, soon drew. It would be dangerous, right? Exactly. We're dangerous. It's the message we're trying to get across. I'm for it. I'm for it. I also am for trying to get this. I appreciate the call. I need to get Rick. I'm sending you a number. Will you call this number? I'm sorry, but this is happening like this. But not having Shannon in studio. I just texted you a number, OK? OK. All right. I want you to call that number right now, and tell me when they're on. That's the number billion I both have. So I believe that's the correct number. I'm telling Rick to tech. We're texting the person directly now, OK? Got you. All right. So text that number. Hopefully it'll work. While you're doing that, who's next? Don. Don. Go ahead, Don. Hey, Matt.
Thanks for taking my call. I, October 4, 1997, I rode the second goal post. They carried me 100 yards. I was on the second goal post that went down. I wanted to tell them. Oh, really? Oh, that's cool. Well, how I got the tickets, it's unbelievable. I'm a UK graduate in 1990. So when I was there, basketball was on probation. Our football team wasn't all that great. But nonetheless, a big group from Northern Kentucky went down early in the day, and I missed out on the tickets there, and I called my college roommate, and I said, man, we got to go down to this game. And it was literally two hours before the game. I said, I don't care. We'll find a ticket. So we drove down, and didn't have a ticket. Nobody was selling it. All right, you got to go quick, real quick. So what happened? You got on the goal post. Anyway, I'm in the parking lot. We run into a cardiologist whose daughter couldn't make the game. He gave us two free tickets.
We get in the stadium. They're on the 45-yard line, 20 rows up. Unbelievable, right? So the game goes on. We get it in the overtime. I mean, in this as far as the story, there's two young ladies behind it. I'm sorry. I hate to do this to you, but we've got somebody on who's going to have to bump you. I apologize, but I would love to. But we're going to have to bring him on. Right now we have. I appreciate the call. Will Stein is joining us. Will, right there. Matt, what's up, buddy? How are you guys? We are doing great. I wanted to have you on, because the game is Saturday, and I thought it would be good if you had a message you wanted to give Big Blue Nation. Well, number one, I'm so thankful for the turnout last week. I know they were braving the heat, and they're loud. They're proud. But this weekend's got to be different. We got to be on our A game. We got to be there. We got to be there early. We got to be in the stands early. We got to be in there during pregame warm-ups, Pat Kruger field. And then when the kick-off happens, it needs to be the loudest 65,000 group of people
in the history of the world. That's what I want. It's three of them. Five, 20. 65,000 people that allowed us those 65,000 have ever been the history of the world. That's what I want. Do you, what is a coach having that sort of volume, that sort of excitement? What does it do to the other team? Like, why do you think it will have such an impact or can on the game? One thing we tell our guys, volume reflex confidence. Volume reflex confidence. If you answer a question very timidly, you're not very confident. If you answer it with some voice and some bass, you're confident. So that's what I want our fans to know. Like, when they do that, it just speaks confidence to us. It speaks confidence to our opponent. It obviously disrupts the communication from the quarterback, from the play collar, from the offensive line, creates false starts, creates penalties, delays of game. The more we can get at that, the better off we're going to be. Now, I've had some people say to me, look, I love tailgating.
Why do we have 45 minutes before the game? I even had one of the diehards. I'm going to call him out. Worldwide Todd Harris said, I love tailgating too much. I'm going to come in 10 minutes before. Will, telling that can't happen. No, I want him in there, 45 to 30 minutes before. In his feet, standing up, screaming obscenities that are at our opponent, making him feel very unwanted in the program field, and creating an environment of excellence for Kentucky football. I mean, that's what it's about. I mean, you want to see a great product in the field. I want to see insane fans in the stands as well. Now, can we get the rich people that sit in those low seats? A lot of them like to be back there in the bar. This is why I'm not trying to ruin the liquor sales, but they need to get the drink and come back to their seat. Don't they will? Sometimes those seats are behind you guys can be empty because everybody's in the bar. Sneak a flask in. Sneak a flask in the game. Do whatever you got to do. Get up it. Did your drinks ready? Did your chair and start cheering?
And then we should go back in as fast as you can and come right back out. Give me a one minute or 30 second to one minute preview on Alabama. What do we look for for him and what are we trying to do? Well, I mean, they're obviously a really good team. K-1 to board. Got a ton of respect for him. You know, they're big and physical, but you know, so are we. That's how I feel. We are too. We've prepared the right way throughout the week. We've earned the right to go play on Saturday and compete at the highest level of college football. So I love my squad. I'm always going to be that way. I'm always going to think highly of our guys because of the work that they put in. So it's about us at the end of the day, you know? Doesn't matter per se who comes in the, comes in the Kruger field. It's about how we perform and how we do it to our standard. Well, Drew and I are in. Drew and I have us winning, right? Drew, we are there. I've been saying it since you got the job. And are we women or not? We're definitely winning. But only if your dad does a little pregame, whoopie do before the game? Like he did last week. He's undefeated doing it, coach.
So you got to make them like you in. Yeah, does anybody have any tape that I've heard about? I've not seen it. So I'm, I'm so excited. He got really excited. He got really excited. I will go for a farce to say, Will, I think he, I think even with a little long, he got so excited. I think he got into the moment. And he was like, I'm not giving this microphone up. I love it, man. I love that's passion. That's big, blue nation hence finest. All right. And I loved your intro. So you got to get them to do that again. Good luck. I'm excited about the atmosphere. I have friends coming to the game. Will that haven't been to games in years just because they want to be inside for it. I wish you nothing but the best. And thank you for taking the time to make to give the message. Yeah, thanks Matt. Thanks guys. We'll see you guys Saturday. All right. There you go. Will Stein. How about that random call in for the game? That is our whiskey thief call of the day right there. That's an awesome way. We don't have to call it anymore and you still got your giving it to it. Absolutely. There's no doubt about it. That was awesome for him to call in. Take the time to kind of pump us up a little bit and get ready for the game on Saturday. And how about Rick pulling that off Shannon with all the time?
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm sure. Hey, I'm warning out. I need a break. I also want to say when Rick came on the phone to talk to me. Do you know what he said, Drew? What's that? He goes, Mitch is on the phone. Mitch. Mitch. That's what I saw on the screen here. That's pleased. But that was the last AD. We have a new one. Well, somebody forgot to change the name. We have to revise that. You get the same phone. Why do you think? Maybe. This game Mitch is phone to will. No, it may be. It may be. It may be. And then his phone. It's your phone. Now cheers will take a break. Very back. KSR. Hi, this is highly breakman. Angel Jaretana. Jeremy Colhane, Cash McDonald. And we're the hosts of the artists on artists on artists on artists podcast. What I try to do is foe journal. I don't know, I think I sort of foe journaling. Yeah, it's reading. It's called reading. So you're so we don't like to use that word anymore. Okay. A panel of New Yorker cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class? No. I've been dying too. I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of Sadako in the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audrement Donald at the Wonderland bookstore. 14. That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark Thirty. No way. I have to come to the last bookstore though. Kim Kertroll is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday. A panel of Eurovision participants. And we do a little Halloween sometimes. Does the pope dress up? He, he winks on Halloween. It's right up next to the microphone. You get up. I hear you get the elbows here. The eyelashes hate each other. You never seen Italy so quiet as when the pope gets up to wink on Halloween. When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and health captive for nine months. I survived and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth smart and these are the survivor files. I just remember this low taunting voice next to my ear saying shut up, don't say anything. Every week I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up without a doubt, he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. Their stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the survivor files with Elizabeth smart on the I heart radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us, not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to solita on the I heart radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Tucky sports radio. Tell me about e-step Drew. Well, I would love to tell you about e-steps. It's a Kentucky-owned family business that's been serving Kentucky for over 50 years. You stop for fuel, food and everyday convenience with locations across the state. You fill up a shell fuel, grab a coffee or a fountain drink, get snacks and then get back
on the road. Also, they're supporting the Honor Flight Kentucky through their Giving Pump program. That gives veterans the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., to visit Memorial's honoring their service. I've been at the airport when this has landed and it's crazy to see a very cool thing they do that's through their Giving Pump. Look for the Purple Giving Pump at e-steps locations to benefit the Honor Flight and check out e-steps.com slash KSR for how you can step up with e-steps in their commitment to giving back to Kentucky communities. Can we just take a second and talk about what Will Stein said there that would have never been said Shannon in the past regime. We were just talking about that during the break. I mean, he said, he said scream obscenities. He said sneak a flask in. We thought when students had pounds of beers in the parking lot, that was like, oh my god, I can't believe you said that. Sneak a flask in. True Franklin. Can you believe it? I love that. They announced a bourbon partner or two weeks ago or not even two weeks ago and now we're sneaking our own in.
But you know what? I love it because he's right. I mean, that's what we need an atmosphere in there and it is, you know, he is. I think his point is do what you got to do to get yourself ready to be loud. That's it. The best version of you as a fan, whatever it takes. Yes. We're not going to church. This is a football game. I mean, be within the rules, be within the law, but get rowdy and make it as hostile environment as possible for Alabama coming. Can you imagine if you work at the stadium and somebody's like, well, the coach told me to sneak a flask. They're going to be on high alert now. Do it. My coach told me. I'm following directions, Ryan. That's what he said. Having been in those bleachers many times, I don't think a lot of our fans needed more encouragement to take a flask in. I think flask had been found in their way and just fine. All right. So somebody made a good put go ahead. I'll just say Ryan McGee was on with Tom Leach this morning and he said, Kogrefield was a Commonwealth stadium he referred to it as sneaky. One of the best environments in the SEC. It's funny how many people say that.
I mean, they're not live here. Yeah. It is interesting like Aryan Foster that played at Tennessee was he's on a podcast and he said recently he thought it was the best environment to play in period in the SEC. We don't we don't feel it, but maybe they out of town people feel it because we're directing all our anger and yelling at them. Maybe that's why they feel a little more. I think part of it is because it's smaller than a lot of these. It can feel more compact, drew and that might make it feel louder during the game. Maybe that's what it is. That and honestly when they get their schedules in the spring, that's not one of the ones they're circling. So they're probably underestimating what it is before they come in and they're like, oh, okay. You are Lacey. Oh, Mrs. Star running back. He did an interview for the College Football video game. They're just giving him like 10 rapid fire questions. And he said Kroger Field was one of the places that had the best atmospheres in the SEC. Wow. So we can do it. We can make it rowdy on Saturday. We can do it. We got to make sure you make that a clip, Mario, of him. What the part where he says sneak a flask in and make it the loudest because that's you
want a definitive. We've moved on from the Mitch Barnhart area. Here a quote. That's it. I think you just got it. Here. Who's next? Charlene is next. Charlene, how are you? Hey, doing great. Hope you guys are great too. I was actually calling about what kind of disease you can get from birds. I love this. Okay. All right. I grew up on a farm in Western Kentucky and there were three of us girls and we were playing with baby birds. Okay. And all three of us contracted histoplasmosis. My older sister was in the hospital under an oxygen tent and I still to this day have scar tissues on my lungs from histoplasmosis. So what is histoplasmosis? It's a very severe lung disease is all I can tell you. I recovered well and didn't have any long lasting things except the scar tissue but my
sister it was a very serious disease. She was in the hospital and under an oxygen tent for several days. Okay. So Dr. Taylor saying like Ellie shouldn't have played with the bird. It's a little too brave for somebody like Ellie to just grab a bird out of the air. Okay. All right. But you've never heard of bird lies. Oh yeah. You can get lies from birds. Yeah. Okay. Well shoot yeah. Okay. Shoot yeah. Okay. Shoot yeah. All right. I appreciate the call. Apparently like somebody just wrote, lies is to lies as mice is to mouse. There you go. Now we got to figure out. That's cool. Learning. Yes. English 101. Which did it twice right? I mean I've never heard the word Louse until today. Has any of you of you? I've heard it but I know I've known what it was. I've heard it but I don't think I could use it in a sentence if it were the spelling
B. Yeah. I mean I tell you say that one country isn't it Louse LA OS? I believe so. You didn't even know it was a country. I don't know. LOS. I could do that. No. No. It's not it's LA. I think. Oh. It's not L.O. Adam is next. You didn't even heard of it. Go ahead Adam. Guys like if you all had had this show this exact show in 2005 it wouldn't have taken Drew in our 10 years to pass English you know one. Exactly. English one. Congrats on passing by the way. We could have yes. Right. Two questions. One. Can you hear me? I'll tell you how to do it. Go for it. You got it. Yeah. So. I had a I saw a Twitter account that said if you could drop two teams it was during the LSU expulsion talk. If you could drop two teams out of the SEC.
Yeah. Like who is most unworthy of being in the SEC. Missouri. Mississippi. Missouri and Mississippi State. Missouri was one of mine. So yeah. And then second question. I was talking about Barry Melrose or I P. When I think of hockey I think of him. What are the best mullets Barry Melrose. That's great question. That's it. He's he'll feel the right. Cyrus. Okay. Great. Those are too great. I appreciate. Call if you're doing the Hall of Fame of Mullets. Billy Ray Cyrus is is going to be number one. He is on the Mount Rushmore. Who else is on the Mullet Hall of Fame. Toby Keith back in the day. Toby Keith. I totally agree. Billy Ray. Yep. Barry Melrose I think is a good one. Not traditional because it's kind of a classy mullet. He used a lot of product. He did. What's a good question for the break. 7727452542. I got one for you too. Give it to me quick. Joe dirt. That's a great character. That's a character. But it's a good one.
But that's a character. We'll take a break right back. KSF. Welcome back. Stuart Traedio I five nine two eight o twenty two eighty seven. Apparently. The goliques criticized me today for Irish good buying last night. channel. Well. I'm a master of that. You are the king of Irish goodbye. Well you should feel good that I actually told you goodbye before I left your party because I was monitoring just leaving. Yes. I took a phone call and then my aunt texted me and said he what he had left and I was like why don't you go back down there everyone's left but apparently they stayed and wondered when I was returning that I didn't. So apparently they just did a segment on their show about me. I wish good bye. It's a good move. Just fake a phone call. Just slide out. I wasn't faking a phone call. I got a phone call. Go out to your car for a phone call and then just never come back. Start the car up. I don't like the Irish goodbye but I guess I did that last night.
Ryan tell me about the event Whiskey Thief has come. Well October is the Whiskey Thief's 14th anniversary. So as part of that they're going to have the Whiskey Thief Fest. It's the weekend of October 9th and 10th. That's the LSU football weekend. It's Keenland so if you're in town for either of those kind of mix this into your schedule because it's kind of an awesome weekend out there at Whiskey Thief. They're going to have 10 bands performing including the project of Adam Duritz of the counting crows. They have music. They're going to have Adam Duritz. Yeah. Yeah he's one of the 10 bands out there. So it's a really big event they're having over the weekend. Tickets are available at WhiskeyThief.com. It's just a fun way to kind of mix that into your weekend. We're in the activity here. They're having Adam Duritz at Whiskey Thief. The project of Adam Duritz of the counting crows is one of 10 bands performing at the Whiskey Thief Fest. Wow. He's going to be there right Walter. He's going to be there. He's going to be there but he's not playing. Yeah. Walter's just buddies with this guy. He's friends and we hear an entire buddies.
Me and Adam. He was on KSR. He was on the sports mob with Matt and Rob. Yeah. You had his phone number and your phone or something for him? I did a every phone number. He gave me a shout out on stage. Yeah. I haven't seen. I mean, I don't know. Well, that's that's October 9th and 10th. You guys can catch up again. Yeah. Come see your buddy. Adam Duritz. I also like Will Steinjou said scream of synities. Yeah. You do that type of encouragement from the man in charge. Can I say something I'm kind of sick of Shannon? Yeah. Whenever Seattle plays, why do they have to show people throwing fish? I think that's just part of the culture out there. Seattle. Although we went to Seattle. I didn't see anybody throwing a fish. Why did they throw it in one specific place? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because I went in there. And like, it's not like, OK, you mean, they throw a fish.
That like if you go to Seattle, you get fish thrown out. You automatically or something. They just put it fish. One thing they did do differently is they put the camera on the fish. Oh, OK. The fish wore a GoPro. Did you not see that last night? I didn't see that. It was on the fish. I love it. So you know what it feels like to get thrown. Did you want to see your camera on the fish? Or did they throw the camera man? Maybe. No, because you can see the, like you can see it. It's like you were a part of the fish. I guess I didn't see it. I saw Mike McCready from Pearl. Jim doing the Nash No Anthem. But I guess I didn't see the fish thing they showed. But I've seen it before. So I know what you're talking about. But I didn't see it last night. All right. People with the best mullets. Randy Johnson. Oh, yeah. It's a good one. John Cruck. John Cruck is a good one. Do we count Theo Vaughn? Sure. I think so. I think he's in the conversation. Yeah. Tiger King. Oh, absolutely.
Joe dirt. That's a real person. Tiger King, I think, is a pretty good one. Yeah. Blake Shelton in the old red video. Yes. He had one back in the day. And he's early days. Joe Diffie. Joe Diffie. Of course. Every 90s guy I felt like. I just say every country 90s guy had a mullet, didn't they? No, this is for me and you. Diamond Dallas Page. Yes. Of course. Of course. That's a good one. The entire band of Diamond Rio. Oh, yeah. You had to have a mullet. Like if you were going to be in that band, you had to have the mullet. If not, they would kick you out. Mike Gundy. Oh, great mullet. Yeah. John Daly. Yes. He had a mullet for a long time. One person says she kind of had a mullet. Daly Parton. What? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I'm telling you, maybe the best country singer mullet was Keith Whitley. Yes.
Yeah. Yeah. No doubt. Morgan Walland has sported a mullet for a while. Yes. I think he still, maybe still does. Dennis Eccercely. That's another one. That's a good one. Dennis. Andre Agassi. But we later found out it was a wig. It was fake. Yeah. There's a count. Andre Agassi's count if it's a wig. No. No. It can't fake the mullet. No. It's got to be legit. It's a matter of fact, if somebody has a mullet, you should be allowed to go up and give it a good tug to make sure it's real. The fact that that man played tennis with a wig. Uh-huh. Yeah. What did he think was going to happen? Of course he's going to sweat through it. That's one of the most fascinating stories in sports history. I agree with you. The fact that he could have a wig in play tennis at a high level. Well, I mean, there's that famous story that like, as he started sweating through it and it was about to fall off. So he just tanked the match intentionally. Yeah. It was starting to wiggle up top there. So he lost. We could get off the court before it came off. We went on the super glue that day. Should have doubled up. Yeah. Wow. Well, 8.5.9. My gundies was pretty good, actually.
And he kept his long after other people didn't. Yeah. You know, these are trendy. Like 90's country everybody had a my gundie just said, I'm just going to have a mullet whether everyone else has one or not. I don't care if it's in style. It's a power move. It's a power move. Yeah. Hey, UK mullet. Somebody played for UK or coach at UK? They had a mullet? Oh. Surely there's been a football player that went with the mullet look. We've had a few offensive on them. Trying to think if we've had basketball players have a mullet. I can't think of any basketball mullets. We need one. We do need a mullet. There's got to be one though. There's got to be somebody. There had to be somebody that went mullet. Yeah. I can't think of a rock of mullet. I feel like he's the type that brought mullet. If he went in, Bullock County's rock and mullets. If anybody's going to do it. Derek Mullis. How would he have had a little bit of a mullet when he first got here? He had more like a perm mullet. Uh-huh. That's a good question. I know there's got to be a football player. If you're going to get a perm for your mullet, that's a different level.
There's a little curly back there. Yeah. One person writes, Matt, what are your thoughts about the president promising to give $5,000 to every citizen if the Republicans win the Senate in Congress? I personally would love it. You think this could come out? No, you wouldn't. Because everything will just cost more. Do you not realize that? If you give everybody $5,000, they're just going to raise the price everything. That's the definition of inflation. So what would it total cost? $5,000. No total. $5,000 per person would be, do you have much total? $1.4 trillion. By the way, you know how much we spend on discretionary spending in America alone now? $1.6. So we're basically doubling the money we give. Wow. Come on. Stop it. And he's not even able to do that. Yeah, and how many times Shannon has he promised to give money? It's like 10 times.
Yeah. Remember, we were always... It's still waiting for my hand out. Where's my body? I don't know. I mean like... I'm a Democrat. I'm supposed to be forgivin' everybody money. But you cannot give everybody $5,000. It will be a terrible idea. Who's next? Jay is next. Jay, go ahead, Jay. Hey guys. Two quick things. First, it's awesome. I can tell just with your all demeanor and everything, with the new regime change at UK, everybody seems more upbeat, more open. It's awesome with all the access that coach Stein, coach Cope. Jay Bat. And Scott, I mean, just everybody across the board. It's just... It's refreshing as a Kentucky fan that now the biggest flagship show for the big blue nation has this extra access. And we all feel like one big part of a big huge family. I agree. That's totally agree with you. And so... But the other thing I wanted to give you is an option for the last place in fancy football.
Is you make somebody sign up and take the ACT? Somebody suggested that. I appreciate the call. I actually worry, Shane and I would enjoy that. You would. Of course you would. You already got yourself losing. That's just a few minutes. Yeah, Matt would take the ACT, like get the maximum amount than brag about it. That's exactly how I'd be like, I'm smarter than all these high school kids. I think it's a 36. Okay. Yeah, I took a 36. And we could never hear the end of it. Yeah. Me, I would just go through and just bubble it all in. Yeah, that's possible. Maybe you see the industry. I would just go put... Yeah. But see, because I don't care. Yeah. No, I would study for it and then feel bad if I didn't do well. You could retake it if you didn't like me. Yeah, I would be like, why am I... I need to continue to do this. ACT is too easy. Give me the SAT. Oh, I don't... Yeah, no, I'm an ACT guy. I was always better at the ACT. Yeah, who's next? Got chest rub next. Okay, hang on. Because I know chesters gonna do a motivational thing.
I'm sure. I'm a... Chesters might have you hang on through the break. Because I don't... I want to give you your time. So, just if you'll hang on, you know, the Kentucky Chamber Young Professional Summit is coming. It's on September 21st. You will have many entrepreneurs from Kentucky, including Dan Oliver. That's Dan O's seasoning, Ryan. Did you know that? I did not know this. Plus, strategist Chris Huber writes, who will talk about AI. I may got some questions for that guy. Go to the Kentucky Chamber Young Professional Summit, a great chance to make connections with other Kentuckians who are young and entrepreneurs. It actually is a great chance to make a network. Go to the KY Chamber dot com slash events. If you're under 35 and you're trying to get, you know, have a business career here in Kentucky. KY Chamber dot com slash events. Great event at the Kentucky Chamber. We'll take a break. We will hear from Chester. We'll get ready for the games tonight. And Country Boys tomorrow is this KSO.
Hi, this is Kylie Breakman, Angel Jaretana. Jeremy Colhane, Patrick McDonald. And we're the hosts of the artist on artist on artist on artist podcast. The improvised character comedy podcast where each week a new panel of artists discuss their craft. Join us for a panel of wellness influencers. What I try to do is foe journal. I don't know. I think I sort of foe journaling. It's reading. It's called reading. So you're so we don't like to use that word anymore. Okay. A panel of New Yorker cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class? No! I've been dying too. I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of Sudako in the thousand paper cranes by Auderman Donald at the Wonderland bookstore. That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of zero-dark 30. No way. Patrick of the last bookstore though. Kim Kattroll is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday. A panel of Eurovision participants. And we do a little Halloween sometimes. Does the Pope dress up?
He winks on Halloween. He gets rid of next and a microphone. I hear you get the elbows here. The eyelashes hate each other. You never seen Italy so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween. Listen to artists on artist on artist on artist on the I heard radio app. All podcasts are wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I choose option B. I'm Julie Beniero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita. Trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and health captive for nine months. I survived and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart and these are the survivor files. I just remember this low taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who lived through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up without a doubt he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them.
They're stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the survivor files with Elizabeth Smart on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If you're a bookshelf and you're a for-you page or equally important to your personality, welcome home. This is Pro's Society, the weekly podcast that's part book club, part group chat for thought daughters, pop culture obsessives, and anyone who thinks pride and prejudice and love island deserve the same level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo and every week we're connecting the dots between books, the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop having. I'm going to have to look up this story. I'm obsessed, so obsessed. From bestselling authors and your favorite booktock creators to the latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages inside compelling characters and that is a Trojan horse. Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations, or a community of readers who love to think a little too much, you're in the right place.
Listen to Pro's Society on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. See you between the pages.
So apparently drew the goliques have been ripping me about and it includes their producer. It includes their producer drew doing an impression of me. Oh no, see you went in there and I like your strategy, but you're poking around the building a little bit. I'm not sure if I heard this yet. I'm supposed to only play like the first 30 seconds. Can we play this? This is the goliques and their producer doing an impression of me. Here we go. I'm trying to get this to play. My phone is being a jerk. All right, here we go. See if you can hear this. You tell me if you all can hear it. And I of course cannot get it to work. Shane and technical difficulties. Here we go. Producing on the fly. I see Matt Jones leaving on the phone. Right. I want to take a call. He's got a call. Maybe he's got to hit somewhere. And all by the way, I was sitting by him. He said, I got it. I got to have take a call. I'll be right back. I'll be right back. I'll be right.
I'm going to do some dark stuff. I'm going to do some dark stuff. I see it. It's going to be good. I'm going to do some dark stuff. I'm going to do some dark stuff. Like that. I don't sound like that. Do I? Was that you or the producer? That was the producer. Okay. Yeah. I don't think I sound like that. O Charlie's has clothes for good. Every O Charlie's in America is going to close by the end of October. That makes me sad. I did like some potato soup. It was a big good early joke on KSR about how much Jared Carter liked like to put the loaded potato soup. I'm not even sure if that was true, but I know we used to say it. Are you sad to see the end of Ocharles? You know, this happens in places close, you act sad, then you realize you haven't been in 10 years. So I'm not going to sit here and act like it's a big loss for me. I'm part of the problem. But there was a run of five-ish years, including my first year at UK. Ocharles was a favorite. Give me the rolls in the potato soup, and that a pretty good happy hour in Lexington. So I was a regular for many years, but hadn't been in a while. There was three of them in Lexington, and no matter when you went, they were always packed.
All three of them. So I was kind of sad to see it go. I thought that nobody under the age of 50 ever went to Ocharles. Oh, come on. I'm going to say that they're all in the end. Great brand. Great brand. Great loaded potato soup. What else were they, did they have? Well, it was so great. Why didn't you go eat there more? Well, I was busy, but otherwise it was good. The ones in Lexington, their bars were kind of like a head out, too. You would go out like you would go to Ocharles and get some drinks. It was a popular place. Well, RIP, tell Ocharles. I've been providing 50 plus years of happyness around the country. Oh, Ocharles. No, little Riles. It's auto parts, idiot. I don't want to see. I'm going to see. Who's so next? Oh, even the last one. I even made Rick laugh. I almost beat him up pants on the line.
What's your fault? Rick. Oh, wow. Who's next? Shall we, uh, register? All right, Chester. Have you had, go for it. Hey, Matt. Um, it's a great day to be a wildcat. Um, I've a couple things about this football team. I just wanted to mention. They've been mentioned yet. But number one. Um, and I just think this is amazing. We need to say it's a big, blue nation. A big congratulations to our punter and holder, uh, Wilson Barry. He and his beautiful wife just had their third child together. And that's amazing. Three children. And the punter, all right. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. So just congratulations. Okay, so I got a buddy in mind. And he does like, he goes like these drift stores and tries to find wall, he in yard sales and tries to find deals and things like this. To try to resell them on the internet. Yeah.
Well, he was up there. And I don't know if his Lexington or Nicholsville won the other day. It's been a couple weeks ago. I was going to try and call him before the first game and tell you the story. Could get fired me up so much. But he was in there. And he was looking at some shirts. And standing right there next to him was our quarterback. Kenny mentioned. Okay. And you know what? You know what? He was buying what? He was buying. He had in his hands to Dale Earnhardt T-shirts. And really? Yeah, sir. And so listen to this is where it's crazy. So he called me about that. And he didn't talk to me. And we got to talking about it. We just got about a minute. A minute here, Jason. It's all you need to know. We got on the internet. And I just searched Dale Earnhardt Kenny mentioned. Okay. Matt Coney Manche is number, I'm shaking telling you this.
He is, he wears number three. Okay. As a trip to Dale Earnhardt. Is that true? He was. Yeah, so I've heard that. I mean, it was because his memo or his type of one. Love Dale Earnhardt. And they told him to love Dale Earnhardt, the intimidator. The intimidator. Matt, that fired me up so much. I have felt not connected to this team. When I heard that story that was all I needed to know. That we have got a special man back there behind center this year. And I just, I didn't know if you knew there had been no bad. And just like Dale did at Bristol in August in 98, he's going to put LeBonnie into the wall for Alabama and is going to get us the victory, Chester. Well, I don't know about that. About putting people up. But he went out of thinking, I don't know if this could catch on. I know we used to hold up the four in the fourth quarter. But like at NASCAR on the third left, they would hold up the three for Dale.
And I was thinking we need to come out the second half fired up, man. I don't care what the four is. But I don't know if this could actually be the first time we've ever heard that speech lane keeping gaze. We need to come out, let's be heard something like that, and we're about ready to just go cry. I like it. Well, there you go. I didn't know we had an art fan. I appreciated Chester. I had no idea. I guess he said down the show. For some reason, was that when I was on there? Was that when we were at the stadium? Yes, I was media day there. And he said that's why he wears number three. I must have been NASCAR fan. town at Country Boy. Come on out. We're gonna beat the tide. Let's see you then. We'll be right. We'll see you tomorrow. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
