About this episode
As a special monthly episode, Justin Hibbard explains the significance of a particular feast day in the liturgical calendar. In this September 9th episode, Justin explores the life of Saint Peter Claver aka Pedro Claver - an extraordinary 17th century Jesuit missionary from Spain who poured out his life to provide physical and spiritual aid to Africans who were unjustly taken from their homes and forced into the slave trade in the New World. It is estimated that over the course of his 40-year ministry in Cartagena, he catechized and baptized 300,000 African slaves. See a depiction and brief bio of Saint Pedro Claver here on Why Catholic’s Instagram account.
