エルトゥールル号遭難事件とは 1890年に紀伊半島沿海で起こったトルコ船沈没事故である。 多くのトルコ人が犠牲となったが、生き残ったトルコ人を当時の日本人が献身的に助けたことがきっかけで、両国にとっての見えない絆となり、今日までの日本とトルコの友好の象徴として語り継がれている。
