平田 篤胤（ひらた あつたね、安永5年8月24日(1776年10月6日) – 天保14年閏9月11日(1843年11月2日）)は、江戸時代後期の国学者・神道家・思想家・医者。
冒頭の篤胤の言葉。自分の属す組織や社会では、上を眺めれば太刀打ちできない優れた人が山ほどいることがわかる。しかし、現在の自分を制約している笠を脱いで見渡す限り自由に眺めてみよう。そうすれば世界は広く活躍できる場は無限であることがわかる。笠とは自ら設定した限界であり、経験からくる偏見であり、狭い内部を意味している。
