A group of Iranian Americans in Las Vegas are celebrating after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Saturday that killed Iran's supreme leader. Roughly 100 people gathered in front of the fountains of Belagio's Sunday in support of the attacks. One woman who said she and her family fled Iran in 2000 and have since become U.S. citizens told the Review Journal she sees a brighter future for her home country, which she hopes to one day revisit. We want to live like Americans. We want to live free, but the government they don't let us do that. They just want to
force their theology to people and that's so sad. That's all we want. The freedom. That's it. Nevada's democratic senators and representatives issued statement Saturday saying the strikes were carried out without congressional authorization. Republican representative Mark Amadeh had not released a statement as of Monday afternoon. Governor Drelambaro said Saturday that some unspecified locations in Nevada could see an increased police presence in the aftermath of the strikes. The war in the Middle East and other factors could cause local gas prices to spike up to 60 cents per gallon in the next month according to gas buddy. In addition to the war, gas buddy says Vegas prices will be impacted by the switch from winter to summer blends and maintenance at California refineries. The Nevada Gaming Commission adds former minor league baseball pitcher Wayne Nix to the black book banning him from the states casinos.
Commissioners voted unanimously to add Nix to Nevada's list of excluded persons taking less than 15 minutes to make a decision. One of the things that that the reason why he's there is because he was betting at MGM grand and several of the other MGM properties when Scott Sebela was the president of MGM grand. So what the consequences were for him was that he was eventually drummed out of the out of the industry. Scott Sebela is no longer licensed. He had a license revoked so he cannot work in any property at this point in time. Nix is awaiting sentencing next month in California on a legal book making charges. LPM restaurant Embar at the Coswapolitan will close at the end of this month, according to a representative for the property. In a statement, a Coswapolitan executive praised LPM's staff for, quote, delivering first-class hospitality and cuisine to our guests. No immediate plans for the space have been announced. LPM opened in November of 2023, and last year it made RJ Magazine's list of the top 100 restaurants in Las Vegas. Now for Vegas Nation and the latest on the Raiders.
