小泉 八雲（こいずみ やくも、1850年6月27日 – 1904年（明治37年）9月26日）は、ギリシャ生まれの新聞記者（探訪作家） 、紀行文作家、随筆家、小説家、日本研究家、日本民俗学者。ラフカディオ・ハーン という名でも知られる。
文明は常に新しいものをつくる。それが近代以降はすぐに世界共通のインフラとなる。その国の文化は古いものの中にしかない。だから旅行者の目には、古いものだけが新しいと感じるのだ。古いものは新しい。
