菅原道真（すがわら の みちざね 、承和12年6月25日（845年8月1日） – 延喜3年2月25日（903年3月26日））は、日本の平安時代の貴族、学者、漢詩人、政治家。
菅原道真の上昇と下降の波乱の人生は人々の同情をかった。同情を集める吸引力は「歌」であった。この31文字の歌という器にはあらゆる情念を込めることができる。歌は短いからこそ人々の心の奥に手裏剣のように刺さるのだ。
