0:00A plane collides with the fire truck on the runway at LaGuardia, killing two. Trump walks back attacks on Iran Power Infrastructure while Iran says no talks have taken place. And a state title at Princeton, the first boys basketball title in school history. Live on five in five, it is Monday, March 23rd, 2026, Megan Mitchell, Stephen Aldert, and here with you, podcast coming to you a little bit later because it's been quite the morning. I was outside freezing in the cold along with all the other breaking news that we had happening. Yeah, and as many of you know, when you get storms, that does mean that we usually, in Cincinnati, get that cool down with it, which is what Randy has been warning us about. So last night, you might have woken up because of it, those line gusts that Stephen very much saw the impact of, gusts it up to 58 miles per hour around midnight and then the cold front came in. Today, temperatures slid down to the 40s, potentially even the 30s in some parts of the region, but they're going to make it back up into the 50s this afternoon.

1:01And the next couple of days are pretty much typical this time of year. We'll get up into the mid 50s tomorrow and then mid 60s on Wednesday and then opening day. As of right now, it does look like that warm front could kind of develop first thing in the morning on Thursday, which would also bring some lighter rain as it typically goes. But then until about maybe starting at 10 a.m. it should be pretty clear for the parade, for the actual first print pitch and hopefully through the game. But then we are expecting perhaps some rain storms Thursday night. So if you see that rain icon on the opening day forecast, don't be like, no, you could probably head out to the festivities. Sounds like we are going to hit the sweet spot for all the things that we will be enjoying outside. Let's jump through our headlines five on five in five. Let's go to some breaking news out of New York City official sharing an update on that deadly plane crash at LaGuardia Airport. They say the pilot and co-pilot of this air candidate flight are dead after the plane, the jet collided with a fire truck that was on the runway.

2:03The airport is closed until this afternoon at the earliest in video. We saw in our newsroom showing the extensive damage to the front end of that plane. Officials say there are about 80 people on board, including the crew. 41 were taken to a hospital. 32 of them have since been released at last update. Some of those passengers injuries are serious. Two officers on the ground were also hurt. They are stable at a hospital. Now officials say the fire truck had been responding to a nearby flight that had requested assistance for an odor in the cockpit. The crash happened shortly before midnight. We're now hearing from a person who was on board during the chaos. We went down for a regular landing that we came in pretty hard. We immediately hit something and it was just chaos in there. About five seconds later we had come to a stop but in that short period I mean everybody was hunking down and everybody screaming pretty quickly. We didn't have any directions because the pilot's cabinet and kind of the story. So somebody said let's get the emergency exit and get the door and that's all jump out and that's exactly what we did. So again the closure at LaGuardia will last until at least two and it is

3:07impacting flights across the country including back here at CVG so if you are planning out flying anytime during the day just double triple quadruple check your flight along with any slowdowns that might be happening with TSA as well. So I number two this one has a lot of questions to be answered. Yeah it's a very strange situation and we're working to get more information and confirm whether the boy in a homicide and a missing person's case are the same person. We reached out to Cincinnati police we haven't heard back on this but what we can tell you in this weird situation is that a 15-year-old identified as Nazir Owens has been identified as the teen that was shot to death Sunday in North Avenue. The victim was found at an apartment complex on Glenwood Avenue. A teen with the same name and age went missing from Cincinnati more than a year and a half ago according to the Attorney General's office. So we contacted the AG's office to ask if they are the same person. We were directed to police we're continuing to make calls in this

4:08case and get answers and we'll bring you any updates that we get on air and online. Let's go overseas to the Middle East. I mean this shows the show you how busy we were when Iran is this far down and our rundown. Again breaking from overseas a reprieve for President Trump of five days after he says there were productive talks with Iran and he says he won't strike Iranian power plants. However Iran is denying those talks ever took place. That's per Garrett Hake with NBC News. Now over the weekend the U.S. and Iran were trading threats over the strait of four moves all of it with President Trump setting a deadline for Iran to open the strait by tonight. If not Trump said he would quote obliterate Iran's power plants Iran firing back at those threats warning that if the president took that action they could shut down the strait of our moves and target power sources connected to U.S. bases. Now the rising tensions stopped nearly all traffic through the key oil passage and that uncertainty driving oil prices higher Brent crude above $114 a barrel U.S. crude back above $100 a barrel might as officials now say higher prices could stick around for months. 5:11the Trump administration lifted sanctions on millions of barrels of Iranian oil on NBC's Meet the Press Treasury Secretary Scott Presett said the move is part of a strategy to use Iran's own oil to counter price spikes here at home gas prices are holding fairly steady this morning even though we have seen as high as 419 in our area AAA reporting the average and since yet 366 that's up four cents from yesterday coming to him 371 Dearborn County Indiana you're paying $3.80 a gallon. Story number four a situation from North. Yeah fire fighters monitoring a massive fire at a glass plant in Maureen so it's about an hour north of Cincinnati it's actually right above where Springboro and Franklin are near Dayton and this is one of those that you have to see the video to just see the extent of this it was a fire that started around 830 last night at the Fuyah glass America in the flames reignited several times throughout the morning investigators do believe that this massive fire started on the roof quickly spread throughout the facility

7:16Princeton's first state title after previous runner-up finishes back in 2009 in 1972 so shout out to them getting that ring winning that title they said the the turning point of the season is after back-back losses to Lakota West and I'm not remembering the other name but sometimes just need that point in the season to really focus your guys up and get it done yeah it's all about timing sometimes it is how's your bracket doing really bad you do you remember who I put us number one was a Florida yeah well you're not alone a lot of people had Florida going quite far I bet a good 60 70 percent of the country had Florida at least in the final four so yeah I'm still sitting in like six we have a couple double people who are you know couple people whatever so it's not horrible but it's not like I'm gonna win but you're not at the bottom but not at the bottom yeah I when I saw Florida lost this morning because I was headed to stay up for the game was like oh all right guess we're done here we'll see you in 2027 for the next bracket we all fill out
