0:00A mass shooting in a Cincinnati nightclub sends 9 to the hospital. The president calling it a war with Iran as U.S. strikes along with Israel take out Iran's supreme leader. And Demo Day in Northern Kentucky, the 4th street bridge is coming down. 5 on 5 and 5 welcome to Monday, March 2nd, 2026, Kelly Ripon, Stephen Albritt, and here with you on the podcast of very busy news day, busy news weekend. And the weather is going to be just as busy for the days ahead. Really kind of crazy. So yeah, this is a very Cincinnati week, a little bit of everything. We had the winter weather come through this morning. Yes, it's still kind of moving through. We got the majority like sleet rain slush mixed in with snow. For the most part though, if you were up towards the Dayton area, maybe out west towards Batesville, Indiana, that's where we saw some of that actual snow come down and stick. But for the most part, this is already starting to move out.

1:00It's March. That's exciting. It means better things are coming. And we've got warmer temperatures in the forecast, but wet, wet, wet, wet. So this system is moving through, but unfortunately, that doesn't end our wet weather. So by the afternoon, it's just wet roadways and the rain is the form of precipitation by lunchtime. Again, could have been maybe inch-ish of snow, depending on where you live. You might have seen more than that. North of the loop had the higher chances of that for snow. And again, we'll see everybody switch over to rain, which is good news. That means it's not sticking around. But the rain is. And so every single day this week, we at least have the chance for some rain. It's spotty tomorrow, picks up midday, and then in the evening, Wednesday, we're going to have a rainy start in the chance for some storms with some hail in the wind in the evening. Thursday, more rain in storms, a little less on Friday. So that's good. But by the end of the week, we could be seeing three to four inches of rain total. So a few of it area that is prone to flooding or you live along one of the creeks or the banks of the river. You might just want to be aware of that. We'll talk more about that standing water, all of that, as we get into it. Let's jump into our headlines and a lot of big ones. First up, we've got to talk about that mass shooting over in the east end, Cincinnati

2:00police are partnering with federal authorities to find the person or people who open fire at a music venue in the early morning hours of Sunday. Nine people were injured. Now, as of this morning, there were no arrests and police say there were between five and 600 people inside riverfront live when the shooting happened. They're still doing interviews of witnesses trying to look through video and some of it. You can come in here by business business. You can hear the gunshots go off and see people running to safety. It was a birthday party for a local DJ happening at the time and police have not confirmed if the shooting was linked. But DJ Fresh said in a statement that he's been holding his event for 14 years and never had anything like this happen. The owner of Riverfront Live says he's had security in place from metal detectors to pat down patrols inside as well. But unfortunately, this still happened as for the people who are hurt, all but two have been released from the hospital as of recording. The other two are stable. You can read more reaction from the mayor, from a witness, all of this on wwt.com. That's right. Number two. Let's go up to Middletown. Yeah.

3:00We had some breaking news right at the end of the show. There was a fire at a very large building and part of the roof started to collapse. So this was at Central Avenue, just a few blocks, pardon me, from North University Boulevard. This seems to be kind of in the heart of Middletown. Firefighters say at least eight people were displaced from this apartment building. Two people were treated on scene for smoke inhalation. Again, the fire was on the roof line and we did see collapse there. So that is a huge concern. Obviously, the structure of the building will need to be checked out and likely those folks not going back into those homes, unsure how this all started yet. We will bring you updates here on air and on WLWC. Let's go overseas to the continuing and growing war with Iran. Those are the president's words. So the deadly conflict is growing in the Middle East after the U.S. and Israel killed Iran's supreme leader. The joint attack is triggering retaliatory violence in multiple countries, including Lebanon and Kuwait. We've learned this morning that friendly fire took down three U.S. fighter jets, all F-15s, but the crews on board all survived, able to safely eject.

4:01President Trump is back in the White House this morning and we're expecting to learn more info about the attacks in the Middle East. They just finished a presser going through some details of what happened and where they'll go from here. Overnight, the violence, though, in the Middle East intensified and we've seen new videos showing U.S. Navy ships launching missile missiles. We're also seeing for the first time U.S. forces striking Iranian aircraft targets. All of this comes as Iranian-backed militia widens in the war in the region. A few hours ago, there was black smoke and heavy flames at Erbil Airport in Iraq, home to U.S. military assets, just one of many targets hit. As far as the diplomacy goes between the U.S. and Iran, that appears to be likely over. A top Iranian security official said overnight, Iran will not negotiate with the U.S. The Department of Defense has reported four U.S. service members have been killed so far and President Trump has warned they will likely be more American casualties in the fight. You told the New York Times this war could go on four to five weeks. The big question now, what is the ultimate goal of this operation? Is it for a regime change or is it to take out Iran's nuclear program?

5:03We could learn more later on when the Secretary of State Marco Rubio briefs members of Congress on Capitol Hill. Thomas Massey, sorry, just adding quickly, there did just post regarding the conversation happening in Congress today. So he's going to be obviously a big part of that. Yeah, probably one of the first people we'll hear from once that briefing is over what he has to say. But he's been very vocal about the President's use of military force in Iran right now. Story number four, this has been a very viral story, a very awful story, but an update to it. And again, just a warning, these details are grotesque. We understand that, but it is a very big story. So a man accused in a series of charges now pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. Tony McCollister is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a child as well as accused of intercourse with dogs. Now just last month, he pled guilty not guilty pardon me to a long list of charges. His alleged girlfriend, Erica Grove, is also facing charges. Now she has pled not guilty.

6:04Her attorney says she is a victim. They will both be back in court later this month. Our final story here on five on five and five, some pretty wild video showing a police chase. Kelly, you know, you saw it over the weekend as did I and I both kind of went, that's a lot of cop cars. That is a violent crash for it to finish. And the car on the trailer, getting dragged, that was a whole lot to this whole chase. You had to watch it a few times to make sure you were seeing what you think you saw. This new video shows a Cincinnati police cruiser eventually flipping over and ending up on its side during a countywide chase over the weekend. Police identified the suspect as Ayesha Harris. Now somehow a CPD cruiser ended up on the trailer of Harris's car. And you can see on the video that the cruiser is being pulled by the car. Now police ended up hitting the car which caused the cruiser to flip on its side. Harris's car lost control and crashes into a tree. Norwood police say this all started when they tried to serve a warrant in connection to a felonious assault during the pursuit. Police say Harris intentionally hit two police cars. Harris was eventually taken to the hospital, charges are pending through both CPD and

7:08Norwood police. The officer taken to the hospital has been released and is quote in good spirits. WLVT has requested all footage relating to the pursuit from city agencies. And if you see some of the video that we have, I believe we have it all online. You see the suspect car go by. You see the police cruiser kind of awkwardly attached to the back of it. And then at least a dozen, I think I counted 19 marked police cars from various jurisdictions all chasing. That was wild. This suspect and obviously a police officer was attached to this car and they're trying to get to him as well. Right. And navigating that, maneuvering that so that that officer wasn't also significantly injured had to be a huge part of their tactics. Yeah, that was crazy. Yeah, we have to get this person to stop. We also need to get to our guys. Yeah. Like what do we do here? That's crazy. We're going to ask the questions and try to figure out, you know, are we chase policies being followed? How did that operate? How did the whole situation work and if any other charges come, we'll be sure to let you know. Hey, we're recording this a little late because we've had a lot of news about 919.

8:11We are moments away from the first week bridge going by. Bye. I'm pumped. I'm not because having that closed has been an interesting journey already. Every Saturday we come home from NKU and I have to tell my husband where every Saturday where you going? The bridge is gone. Where you going? That bridge is gone. Well, it wasn't officially. It was closed to us. Now it will officially be gone. It's going to be a couple years, 2028. Late. 2020. Late. Right now. Not just 2028, late. I have mentioned though, like it is a 90 year old bridge, you went, they had to close lanes a lot because of weight restrictions, the pedestrian pathways were sus. I don't even think kids use that word anymore, but you had to basically make yourself the tiniest version of you to get past another person. Otherwise, you had to watch who was, if I bought the stroller across the bridge, nobody else could pass. There was just no room. So, it will definitely be a nice upgrade, especially with all the stuff that's happening down there on the river, especially on the new ports side. A lot of growth, a lot of things happen, but progress requires change and 10 times weight.
