De zwoele R&B en neo-soul van de zangeres is geïnspireerd door haar eigen leven – de strijd die ze als vluchteling voerde (als peuter ontvluchtte ze Eritrea met haar moeder), inspiratie uit de Amsterdamse underground muziekscene en haar persoonlijke verhalen over verliefdheden en teleurstellingen.
