The San Francisco 49ers have hired Matt Iberfluse as their new assistant head coach for defense. He replaces Gus Bradley, who left to join former defensive coordinator Robert Salah at the Tennessee Titans. Iberfluse joins newly hired defensive coordinator Rahim Morris on the staff. Iberfluse served as head coach for the Chicago Bears from 2022 to 2024, posting a record of 14 wins and 32 losses. He was fired after that stretch and then spent one season as defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025 were his unit. Ranked last and points allowed. Both Iberfluse and Morris are former head coaches now on the 49ers staff this off season.
