パブロ・ピカソ（1881年10月25日 – 1973年4月8日）は、スペインのマラガに生まれ、フランスで制作活動をした画家、素描家、彫刻家。
ピカソの遺した6万から8万の作品とはどれくらいの量なのか。100歳まで生きた人の生涯の日数は3万6千5百日余だから、毎日2作品という計算だ。質の高さも考慮するとそのエネルギーたるや、途方もないものだ。
ピカソの絵画の歴史は、ピカソの自分史である。
