A list-snuff production.
This is Happier with Lucy and Nicky.
And if you're easily offended, then this might not be for you.
But I kept getting this thing saying Lizzo and Jacob a lot of you looked up and I believed
it for like, literally four days.
But if you look at the thing, it's his rage-bait news.
All of my mind was like, you'll never believe it, Lizzo and Jacob a lot of you looked up.
Cheers, babe.
So I'm going to happy out with Lucy and Nicky.
The real life shit.
You ain't going to discuss over a drink.
But before we start, a little disclaimer.
So today we are here for my birthday.
Your birthday, Lucidox.
Lisa, it's a birthday.
Happy birthday, Lucy.
Lisa, it's your birthday.
That's my birthday.
You have a bit of a Lisa Simpson with this accent, right?
Yeah.
That's fine, babe.
What can I do for you, girl?
I'll be honest with you.
I was never really that good applying a saxophone.
Really?
No.
Can you still remember any chords?
Do you mind asking me that the other day?
You're like, you could still play the saxophone.
I was like, I actually don't think I could.
I can still play a little bit of the piano.
And I can still play the drums, but a little bit.
But I can't play the saxophone.
I can't play a musical queen.
That's amazing.
But that's the instruments I played.
That's a lot of instruments.
Yeah.
Did you have any weekly lessons?
I had weekly lessons to the piano.
I didn't do.
Your mum did the most.
Yeah, piano was the one extracurricular activity
that I didn't want to do.
Like, I was like, I don't want to do this.
And my mum really pushed me into it.
And then this is actually a weird story.
You know, when you're a kid and you remember getting in trouble?
Yes.
Like, I remember one time.
I can't remember exactly what happened,
but I was in my piano exam.
Yes, I used to do piano exam.
Yeah.
Which is like, like competitive piano playing like so weird.
And honestly, really fucking boring.
Respectfully.
Yeah.
But amazing, really.
I remember, like, so distinctly,
that for some reason my piano teacher,
like, I must have said something outlandish,
which I mean, I had diagnosed ADHD.
So, like, it was bound to happen at some point.
And she got really, really angry at me.
And I remember sitting outside her house.
I remember, like, I can exactly remember where her house
is in mischievous and everything.
And I remember sitting outside us,
just waiting for my mum to come and pick me up.
Like, hurry up, mum.
Anyway, mum got there.
And I just, like, said to my mum, I was like,
I'm not doing piano anymore.
Like, point blank.
Like, you can keep trying to make me do piano.
I'll play any other instrument,
but I'm not playing piano anymore.
Yeah.
I can't remember what she did.
She got like, I've like embarrassed her
or something in front of the piano examiner
or something because I'd like forgotten her.
It was really weird.
Is that of how you remember those things?
Yeah.
I remember that with one of my dancing coaches.
She was, she, I reckon she would make me like,
like, there was a phase they were hated going
just because she would like bully you kind of.
This is just dancing by the way.
Yeah.
It's pretty heavy to do your shit, mate.
Yeah, I don't know.
I just was like a weird, yucky vibe.
And we all got like, over and over.
And we were kind of like,
we don't want to do this anymore.
Like, all me and the girls.
I couldn't be working children's things.
Yeah.
They're too impressionable.
And like, just, you have a bad day.
You're stressed out.
Nine times out of 10 at kids,
but we're going to stress you out.
Right?
Anyway.
Anyway, this is what I fucking around.
Let's get into this episode.
Listen, I think to frame this is going to be like,
30 things we learned in our 30s.
Lessons, we know now.
Yes.
Yeah.
Still love and got it down, Papa.
Let's go.
It's the birthday episode.
Tourist season baby.
It's Britney bitch.
Did you guys suddenly winging out, babe?
Why?
Because my co-star or what's the other one?
Oh, I know what you're going to say.
Told me that I had a window before the 10th of May
that I was going to meet someone that like,
it only happens once every six years.
And it's been from September last year to May
and it's like almost the 10th of May and I haven't met them.
Do you know what?
It also makes me feel really excited
how much can happen before the 10th of May.
Thank you, Strauss.
You know what I mean?
Like, I'm going to Bali.
Yeah, you've got heaps coming up.
Like that's, you know, I wouldn't fucking put all yags in the bloody
Apple app of co-star, however.
No, it's not co-star.
It's the other one.
What's the other one?
The pattern.
It's my pattern.
It's like, this only happens every now and then I'm like,
oh, for fuck's sake.
But you know, it could also just mean
like the closing of one chapter to open up another one,
which could mean like,
your single chapters closing a 10th of May.
So you should root heaps of dues before then.
It's true.
But anyway, we're sitting here.
It's Lucy's birthday.
We've got Britney Spears costumes on
because she is the Britney Spears of our generation.
She goes with fucking knives once and we never heard the end of it.
The Britney Spears of our generation is iconic and I love it.
Listen, I'll be honest with you guys.
I was meant to be where it might sell the backstory.
Slave for you costume.
And it didn't arrive.
So today I've had to go outside did it again.
And I'm not as comfortable.
It's comfortable.
It just got here maybe half an hour ago.
So this is brand new information.
This is like so similar to the stinger suit I used to wear.
It was even red.
Well, damn girl.
Where were you going, women?
South Mission Beach.
Did you swim in around a Mission Beach in that?
You're a star, babe.
No, honestly, it was a very, obviously not shiny,
but it was very similar to this.
Well, babe, you're pulling it off.
Thank you.
You're looking good and the content is still going to look amazing.
I am.
Upsided it again, Britney.
No, I am.
Oh, you're like your baby one more time.
Help me, baby, one more time.
And I even had the little pink bows to go at the end,
but I just saw that's enough.
Do you know where Britney Ira phase one,
which is like when this is her first album,
then what I reckon we do the next time around,
because there will be another one.
We do Britney like slave for you.
No, we'll do slave for you in toxic,
which was like the next era.
Oh my god, toxic can be the airplane costume.
Yeah.
And I'll do slave for you.
Oh, huh.
Then the next one we do,
we'll do Britney like piece of me circus era.
Yes.
And then the next one we'll do Britney
when she dances at home with knives.
Yeah.
Beautiful of the ears.
We should do Britney Instagram era.
Yeah.
You know, raw, real, stripped back.
We fucking love you Britney Spears.
We do.
But anyway, this episode's not about Britney,
it's about you loose.
It is my birthday tomorrow, Tuesday,
the 28th of April.
We would have just come off the back of a fucking
ripper weekend for your actual BDS celebration tonight.
We would have, yes, I'm sure I'll be in the hurt locker
right now as you tune into this.
It is like my goal this year
to really change the narrative around my birthday,
because I've famously had some like pretty rough things
happening on my birthday over the last few years.
I got cheated on firstly.
Yep.
That was pretty wild.
That was a good time in Bali though.
We were in Bali was pretty fun.
Well, we didn't know.
Had you found out at that time it'd be different.
Yeah.
It was on the calendar,
calendar that that happened.
Yes.
But yeah, we don't need to go into the bad things
that happen on my birthday.
Focus on the good things.
That's what I mean.
I'm really keen to change the narrative around my birthday.
I think so too.
It's like, you know,
we've had a few bad runs,
but we're not dwelling on that.
We're not letting it hold us back.
Like onwards and upwards.
I feel pretty good at the moment.
Yeah.
Like I feel pretty like,
I'm not easily rattled.
Yeah.
Well, that's growing up and getting older.
Is that that is one of the beautiful things about growing up
is you get more self-assured things right or you less.
Unfortunately, probably because you get exposed
to a lot more too.
But, you know,
Like once I expose a pair of hair,
I've just got trauma.
Yeah.
Well, before we get into it,
we have a few people that actually wish
to have a birthday.
Oh.
What?
Yeah.
We just put a little,
you know, some of the punters
and people that love you do.
Oh.
Oh, please.
Happy birthday, Lucy.
Another year,
sexier,
hotter,
and more iconic.
Happy birthday.
Just wanted to wish you
the best day.
I think you should be celebrated every day.
Happy, happy birthday,
L.J.
Marcelo Torres Queen.
Kels, one of the punters from Perth.
You're the best,
most creative
and chaotic brain that I know.
Never stop being you,
chick.
We absolutely love your
scattered ADHD brain,
your humour,
your wild tales.
There's just no one else I'd rather share my dexies with, doll.
Happy birthday.
Happy birthday, Lucy.
Thank you for all the years of laughs and tears
and hot as hell outfits
that you've served us all.
I hope your birthday goes
off harder than a pub raffle
on a meat train night.
Cheesecake.
Itch.
You're a may saw me.
Happy birthday.
To my little dark angel, L.J.
I love you always and forever and day.
Happy birthday, Lucy.
From your number one guy,
Holy Hicks.
I'm so proud of what you've achieved
and to hope you've been spoiled rotten.
Happy birthday to you, my darling.
This is my 28th year
wishing you a happy birthday.
And what a bloody epic journey
it has been to grow with you
and what you thrive every single year.
Happy birthday, Lucy.
From your number one pun to Michaela.
I'm currently hungover on my way to the airport,
so you've taught me well.
I'll be sure to grab a barme while I'm there.
I hope you have the most incredible day
and get spoiled like the absolute queen that you are.
Love y'all.
Babe, you are driven.
You are passionate.
The perfect amount of crazy.
You're the finest auntie
and your energy makes you unforgettable
and totally unstoppable.
I love you so much.
I adore you so much.
Keep bringing the vibes, babe.
I love you from the deepest corner of my heart.
Happy birthday, babe.
Love you.
Lovely.
My big love.
Oh, that didn't do anything like, Lucy.
You can't lean to me either.
I think you've got a voice disorder on my back.
I was like, you went,
I was like, who's this weird woman?
Dark angel.
Wow.
Thank you guys.
Oh, bless.
Okay.
30 things we've learned in our 30s
to homage to another year of getting older in our 30s.
In our 30s, I would honestly say,
I've actually got a great analogy.
What?
So maybe this can start.
I want to try and make sure it's fun to not be negative.
But I was talking to someone recently
and we're having a really like open conversation
about how like what it feels like being in your 30s.
And I kind of just thought it was me.
And we were kind of like having a bit of a breakdown of like,
because like this person that I was talking to was also single
and I was like, you know,
I think your 20s is the decade for like a lot of like new experiences
in like, you know, you go to a new pub and you're like,
whoa.
Everything's so shiny.
Yes, yeah.
You go over seas.
Yeah, babe.
It's amazing.
Oh, God, yeah.
By the time you get to your 30s,
you kind of like experienced a lot of that kind of stuff already
in your 20s.
And unless you start having those like,
I guess I would call them like key milestones
that kind of keep your life like feeling like your purpose
is like moving forward in momentum.
So say for example, it might be like,
get married, buy a house, have a baby.
And it kind of like, it's those things that kind of makes
just the mundane life of like working every day.
Yeah, still keep moving forward.
But when you're like me,
and you don't have those,
well, I could buy a house, which I've done,
some of those things,
do you get a little bit like,
what do I do my today?
And it's kind of like Jim was,
and I was having this conversation,
he was like,
he's like a few of my friends,
they're in their mid 30s,
they've all got kids,
and he's like,
when you have that kind of set up,
sometimes it's just like,
oh, I'm just going to go home and look after the kids.
And like whilst it may get not mundane,
it's like your decisions just made for you.
Kind of thing.
Whereas like when you're kind of in this position like me,
it's like the shine of your 20s is worn off a little bit.
But then you're like,
you don't like,
I don't have to do anything,
or I can do whatever I want.
That's quite powerful really, isn't it?
And exciting to say.
It is.
But it does get a bit like fatiguing.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Would you feel like sometimes like if you feel like
you don't want to just do nothing,
you feel like you have to be doing something?
Like if you're like,
I just want to go home and chill,
but then you're like,
I'm going to go out.
Or like, is that what you're trying to say?
Kind of.
It's like, you know,
a good example would be,
well, because I often feel like when you have time off,
I have to have time off,
so that our holidays alone,
which isn't actually the case.
But I like kind of sometimes like,
well, it makes sense rather than if I have time off
and you have time off,
then we've got to do like 40 podcasts
in a week.
Kind of thing.
So I kind of mirror your time off.
But like often,
I don't really have anywhere I want to go
or anyone I want to go with.
And I'm kind of like,
it's kind of like this thing of like,
you've got to be the only girl in the world
who hates a holiday.
Surely.
No.
But like it's kind of like this sense of like,
I don't really have to do anything at any time
with anyone,
whereas like when you have...
You're like a free agent.
Like when you're organizing your wedding,
you've got something that you're working towards.
Yeah.
When you're having a baby,
you've got your purpose of going home
and looking after your kids.
Well, I guess, yeah.
It's like when you're in your...
And it's sort of bad thing.
There's a lot of freedom involved with it.
And it is a great thing.
But it's kind of like...
Anyway, we were having this conversation.
I was having this conversation
with a friend the other day.
And he was like,
me and the boys call it.
It's like when the sun has set.
So it's like, you know,
that time of day,
and I was like,
holy fuck, that really shook me to my core.
And I want to like try and change it.
But you know, like,
when we're like,
of an afternoon neck,
especially you and I,
we're in Bali,
and it's like four, five o'clock.
And like, it's that beautiful golden hour.
And like, everything is just like,
oh, the world is always done.
This is just so exciting.
I'm like so wrapped up.
And then the sun sets.
And it's like,
you're still having fun.
Yeah.
But it's just not quite a shiny.
Yeah, I get that.
Or like, maybe,
or maybe you're like,
oh, now I'm just sort of at
a dark place in my togs.
Probably kind of feel like having a shower.
Kind of have to go home, get ready.
I know what you mean.
It takes the risk away.
It kind of takes that risk away.
And when he said that analogy to me,
I was like, holy fuck.
Yeah.
That's kind of like,
anyway,
my goal is to try and hang my shirt.
He's not feel like that anymore.
The sun has set.
Yeah.
And I get that.
That's also rituals every time the sun literally sets.
And they're like,
I know.
And don't you just wish
it could stay in that like,
five till six hours forever?
Oh, big time.
That's the best golden hour, baby.
And it's too quick.
Do you feel like that was your 20s?
I loved my 20s.
I felt like in my 20s,
I never,
like I didn't love my 20s.
Like I love my life on paper now.
Like,
why more financial freedom?
I still have the same amazing friends
I even had in my 20s
and even more amazing new ones.
So I'm not like at a shortage of like
beautiful relationships and stuff.
I think it's just that sense of like,
you know,
that feeling of like,
I'll just never forget like when you and I first got to Paris
when we first flew into Europe
when we were 24.
You loved that feeling or what?
And I like, we were like,
I got in a scuffle with a gypsy
and I thought it was the funnest thing ever.
I was like,
Paris rules.
The best.
I just remember being like,
oh my god, these buildings,
I get Paris is the cliche.
I always thought I was like obsessed
and every time some of them say they hated Paris,
I was like personally offended.
And we were like,
it's a cross-art.
Have you tried the cross-art?
They have,
have you tried it in Paris?
They hit different.
Like the Riz.
Do you know what I mean?
Like,
before we ever had real benders.
Have accidental jet-like bender
because we just did not want to stop looking at that sparkly,
I full tower.
We were so bad at that.
We were going to sit there all night.
And the other time we sat there,
we took our line bikes,
so we didn't want to get rid of our bikes
because we were cruising around on them.
So we put them on the grass
and the Paris just me a bike
because they were beeping
because they were out of the area.
We can't lose the bike so,
but we'll just sit over here
and keep an eye on them.
I like so much fun.
And I remember we drove past someone's house
and we looked in,
we were like,
the hottest guys in there.
The hottest guys in there.
Oh yeah.
And then circle back on our lives.
Like,
living our best life.
I know.
I know.
But it's kind of like,
I don't know.
Maybe this should be 30 things.
We would want to keep.
Like, or like, you know,
30 things that it's like,
four-hour people that are like,
in your 20s,
his 30 things that you need to,
like,
lap it up.
Yeah.
Lap up that feeling.
I know.
That's not to say your 30s cycle.
I love being in my 30s.
30s rule.
But like, I think your 30s,
it takes a lot more
planning and commitment
from people to do things like that now.
Don't you reckon?
Like,
even to like,
gone overseas holiday.
It's like, right now,
we are in the position with like,
our group of friends,
with our jobs,
with our financial backing,
everything.
To go to Spain
and get a big,
fucking house altogether.
We could make those memories.
Yeah.
And it feels,
you just need that person.
That's the driver and the organising.
Anything's possible.
And I really do feel like,
sometimes,
I used to be that when we had the same,
like, a big,
same friendship group.
And like,
all of our boyfriend,
the friendly star.
And that's the only star.
It's just like,
living in each other's pockets and stuff.
So it's like harder to like,
find your core group.
Or if you do have a group
where you would go with,
you can't leave other people out.
So it's like hard.
Yeah.
But I'm like,
you need to keep doing those things.
I know.
You need to look forward to stuff.
And that, to me,
is what life's all about.
Fully it.
Like, even this weekend
for my birthday.
So, me and Flicky Girl
are having a shared birthday.
And like,
we're considering the fucking
elaborate set up I had for my birthday last year.
This is a very low key.
But it still took like,
a little bit of planning to help me
go to reservation for lunch.
Flick organized the bar.
There's a transfer.
Super fun.
100% like epic.
But even that,
I was like,
if it wasn't my birthday,
there's no way I would be bothered
to make this effort.
But why not?
Why not?
We could do that every weekend.
Free will, babe.
Okay.
So let's start this off at number one then.
Actually, okay.
Number one can be
live in the sunset era
for as long as you can.
Yeah.
Relish the sunset era.
Okay.
I've got number two.
Okay.
Make traditions and stick to them
along this line.
Girls Christmas.
Oh, yeah.
So I started off with
a little bit of a secret Santa
on my balcony in Paddington
when we were like,
I wasn't even there.
There was like four of us there.
Yeah.
And we were like,
oh, let's all bring a dish and
do a secret Santa.
And it was fucking fun.
They were like,
we all got pissed together.
Whatever.
Next year, we should do that again.
I'll do it at my place this time.
Like, our girls Christmas has grown
over the years.
We're like,
we're doing a Airbnb at Palm Beach
in New South Wales and all
staying there for three nights together.
So fun.
The girls are leaving the kids at home.
Like, it is like an annual thing
that you do not miss.
Like, I flew home for the time.
I flew home from my honey moon.
Didn't even take the suitcase out of my car
and drove straight to girls Christmas.
That's right.
I was like, let's fucking go.
This is the best ever.
That was a big one.
That was huge.
But yeah, start traditions and stick to them.
Yeah, for sure.
Like, this is you making your life.
And that's the thing.
Okay, okay.
So start traditions and stick to them.
I love that.
Try and relish in your sunset era
for as long as you can.
And try and draw it out.
Try and find the risk.
Number three, what were we just talking about before?
Oh, making plans.
Like, it can be an absolute chore.
And honestly, I actually disdain group chats.
Every time I start,
this is a fucking versatile problem.
Every time I start a group chat
for something I'm organizing,
I just dinner at mine with the girls
or a birthday party.
After it, I mute it pretty much
because I'm like,
I organize this and I'm annoyed with the group chat.
Like, do you know what I mean?
But it's always worth it.
Like, it may be just a little bit of a hassle.
And you may just be like,
oh, I'd rather just, you know,
go out for dinner with Nick.
But when you do it and you commit to it,
you're never regret it.
It's the fucking best.
It's the best.
And you're sending photos in the same group chat after
and you're living on the memories.
So fun.
So fun.
That's what life's all about.
Yeah, maybe that could be another one.
Like, stop being so occasionally driven.
Like, we fucking wait all year round
to celebrate ourselves or celebrate our friends.
It's like, like, let's go back to fucking
when I have girls weekend.
Don't duck away somewhere nice.
You know what I mean?
Like, do romanticize your life.
I know.
Sometimes I live in like a huge amount of like,
like, again, first of all problems, guys.
But like, we get offered a lot of like free
very cheaper accommodation to like promote like AirBnBs
and stuff on our page.
And I just always feel like I'm like,
I could have been going away for beautiful holidays for years.
And I don't because I've got no one to go with.
And I'm like, what do I mean?
Easily to go with kind of thing.
Well, just not an easy thing.
Like, obviously, I can go with you and Cullin.
And then I just see it as like a bit of like,
oh, then I've got to like organize someone.
And I just see it as a tour.
I really want to know how to do that.
Because that's like the dream.
Yeah.
We're lucky with our jobs you and I get to go
and stay at a lot of places.
Stop like some of the week.
Like out of the ace hotel.
Like fucking dreamy ass.
I love going to.
They will be like,
we're a little lobby cocktail.
I love a lobby cocktail.
Like I got in the morning.
I want to go for a little walkie.
Well, speaking of lobby cocktails.
Go for a lobby cocktail.
We should have been wondering for a lobby cocktail
in these loops.
Babe, you look hot.
I look like a sperm whale.
I look like something that comes straight
out of the Great Barrier Reef.
Well, maybe not in these loops.
I was really dark down.
Like where those on those like fish
that you know, those ones
are like the little light bulb hanging.
You know the fish that has the light bulb hanging off its head?
That's what I look like.
No, you don't at all.
You know the one I'm talking about.
No, no.
Really deep like only like,
like not even the Titanic is that deep down.
That feels like a big fish.
You're a little fish.
No, it's not.
Anyway, I'll show you a photo one day.
We've gone completely off track.
But no.
Number three.
Watch out for those big deep sea fish.
Have you guys watched that fucking
stupid movie on Eddie's with the Bull Sharks?
No.
Anyone.
Anyone at all.
It's in the top 10.
What is it?
There's this, okay.
Quick intermission.
Actually, Bull Sharks are be wary of your Bull Sharks
in your 30s.
I actually.
I actually swim in the canal.
Don't, babe.
I know.
Basically, a long story short,
they live in this small town.
This big storm is coming
as a really bad cyclone.
They don't get out of the town quick enough.
There's a guy that works for like the meat arbitrary
and his truck gets smashed into something.
All the blood from the meat thing comes out
and all these fucking Bull Sharks come into the town.
Oh, is that flooding?
Yeah.
Right.
It's hectic.
And the sharks are attacking you.
Oh, it's a fictional movie you're talking about.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, I thought you were like trying to explain some kind of
fascinating documentary about Bull Sharks.
No, darling.
It was like snakes on a plane.
That's kind of a vibe.
Like, can we just say that the world is so stupid
that there are movies called snakes on a plane?
Maybe.
There could be snakes traveling to zoos.
That could happen.
Yeah.
True.
Anyway.
Let's not forget the movie Speed,
where they're on that bus range.
It's always the end of a look.
Do you know what movie I love?
The new Twister.
Really?
Do you know what I'm excited to see the new practical magic?
Oh.
Did I not send you that this morning?
The trailer came out.
Fuckin' you're gonna have to look.
Who's it?
The same cars.
Oh, you said it.
That's the ear of the sequel.
Prequel.
Sequel.
If they ruin practical magic for me, I'll be.
You know what I mean.
I can not live it.
Don't put your heart away on things.
I need to rewatch the first one.
I can't even remember what happened.
Let's do that.
Let's do that.
Let's do that.
That's a good and rough night.
Rough and friendly night.
Yeah.
That's a really nice one.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Here's a good one.
Sorry.
Back to the actual list.
Because the fuck.
We've just been bombed.
Standard.
Here's a good one.
And I think that it's kind of what advice I give whenever any of my friends are going through breakups
and they start to get a little bit delulu with no salulu.
When people show you who they are and when people say what they say, believe them.
Yes.
I feel like in this like day and age, we are so...
Well, not in this day and age, but so often where really...
Like, quick to want to believe like that there's a second meaning in people's behaviors
or achieving stuff.
Yeah.
And I feel like sometimes it's just like if someone says to you something, just take it at face value.
I always remember Alexis said an episode about this.
I think it was speaking to people that like get like funny about their partners like cheating or something.
And they're not cheating, but they have this like fear that they are cheating or like
if they go out there like, did you hook up with the girl or whatever.
Obviously, whether it's smoke this way, like you've got your own reasons.
But she's like, you can't...
She's like nine times out of ten, the truth comes out.
And when it does, you'll be fine to leave.
So I'm just like struggling seriously with this fucking thing.
Things in your hand, you're like, you can't.
I'm like, you fucking conviction in your voice.
I've been looking at you for a while.
I know.
You mean Christmas tree?
Literally.
I know.
It's like when we were doing the cat thing, you met with Carly and she was like, I really do.
And I was just like, Sharon, literally.
Yeah.
And it's like, stop fearing things that haven't even happened or like stop overthinking things.
Like you're looking for...
Even if you have your suspicions sometimes be faced with what you're faced with and let the rest come out later.
Yeah.
And like that is so much easier said than done.
Oh God, yeah.
But I think if you can even just gaslight yourself into like, I've got a good story.
Our friend broke up with a boy years ago and then after they broke up, like he dumped her.
Like plain and plain as day, cold hard dumped.
And she was like putting all of her cards on the table and he was like, yeah.
And then he would do little things that were like, to be fair, kind of unusual.
But she would...
Well, I don't even think he was doing it to get to like her per se.
I just think he was also going through the fact that like he was also sad that they broke up, but he was done.
And she was reading into everything that he would do.
And I remember just...
Because I've been there.
I've been there and I have done that.
And I was like, babe, this is so easy for me to say when I'm not in your position.
But I could give you any advice. You need to start taking...
If he's saying I don't want to be with you, that's what he means.
I know.
Who doesn't mean because I'm too in love with you and that's why I can't be with you.
You hold on to what you want to hear.
Yes.
That's human nature, though, isn't it?
It is, but I think it's like, you know...
Yeah, you can also like break your own heart doing that.
Yeah, for sure. You really can.
Okay, next one.
Don't chase anyone.
Anything you chase will run away from you.
Do you believe that?
Do you feel like chase your dreams or anyone?
Yeah, chase your dreams, girl.
Chase those big dreams.
Big dream, big dream.
Sorry, big dream, chase, sorry, over here.
Dream, big, big Brenda.
Sorry, I was just my alterie, good Brenda.
No, no, more so like...
I disagree with that.
But to have this heavy moment, you're both there yet, not one.
I think that it is...
What?
Am I really cute?
I think that...
Actually, I don't know if I agree with that one either, actually.
I just read it off to top.
Yeah, just...
I just read it off to top and I was...
Well, listen to that.
Don't fucking...
This is the next one.
Whatever number we're up to.
Don't believe everything you read online.
Do your research, people.
Yeah.
I'm a big believer in that.
They've got fucking AI.
Is it a real house or is it AI?
They've got people doing fake news.
Like, fuck, I kept getting this thing saying,
Lizzo and Jacob Allordie hooked up and I believed it for like...
But if you look at the thing, it's his rage-bait news.
I was like, you'll never believe it.
Lizzo and Jacob Allordie hooked up.
No, babe.
I got done by the one that is that full-blown...
It's like an Australian one and it's like a news channel.
A channel nine, M-E-I-N news.
I want to see all these fake news things with me out.
Okay, this is a good one.
Oh, actually, if we're on the topic of internet stuff,
guys, honestly, get offline a little bit if you can.
Yeah, I do think we're going to start swinging back the other way.
I think it's gone too far.
It's a lot.
I had...
I reckon the youth are kind of protecting their peace a bit more.
I reckon the youth are going to end up bonkers.
I hope not.
I don't know.
I think the youth crave connection.
I love it how we're like, I think the youth.
No, I think they do.
There are so many...
Oh, and like I did a TikTok on this the other day, guys.
I got so fucking dialed in on it.
I am fascinated by internet trolls.
I actually think I would love to create a...
Louis Rowe documentary.
Documentary on it.
Like a go full undercover and beat like almost like, you know, the show catfish.
That would be incredible, telly.
Because there are...
And don't quote me on this start, but apparently one in 10 people in the world are a troll,
which is crazy to think.
That's pretty home.
I don't know if that's true or not.
But anyway, let's just take that statistic.
It actually blows my mind, because I had a bit of a rough week on the internet,
kind of got cancelled in the manosphere for saying men are ugly compared to women.
Which, you know, it was just a bit of fun, but, you know, we were.
And I just got me really thinking and then I saw all that stuff about
Brit Saunders and the Fater State.
Refer to my TikTok if you need some background on that.
And I was just like, man,
the internet is so volatile.
And just like...
Just say shit for the sake of saying it.
Sometimes you actually don't deserve to have an opinion on that.
But because you're on your phone, you can.
I reckon people need to genuinely start like getting a license to have a TikTok account or something.
I know that will never happen.
And I know social media platforms will never like have some kind of negative sense
as well, because it's what creates engagement and stuff.
But they do have negative senses, but they're just not two things that are.
Yeah.
I just reckon if I could give any advice to people in their 20s,
as someone that had it like the internet in their 20s,
but nowhere near the way that TikTok and shit operates now,
just make sure you're doing life for the living.
And if you make or do content around it,
it's just part of the journey.
You're not doing content and then living.
Yeah.
You're not going to things to make content.
You're living and making a bit of content.
That's a beautiful advice.
I like that.
Do you like that?
Complementary content.
It's like...
When we were in our 20s, we used to go to Coachella
and we'd get, you know, one photo...
And I do know it's rich for us to say that,
because the social media landscape has changed so much.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
No, I'm saying we used to go, we used to get one photo
and fuck even that one photo was too much for me.
And then we got to rip in.
Yeah.
Nowadays, when you, these like content creators
and stuff are going to Coachella,
they actually like fucking three to ten videos a day.
Oh.
Lip syncing, fucking doing all the bit of...
You're on board with them.
From the morning they, the moment they wake up
before they get ready to when they're getting
taking their makeup off.
And you're ever...
I always wonder, like, I wonder how much time at Coachella,
you actually enjoyed the festival
versus being making the content.
Pretty crazy.
We've lived through the world of the influencer.
Like, we've actually been...
Well, we'll look back on these years
and be like, wow, we were there.
Pretty cool.
Right, and COVID to us feel like that about COVID.
Yeah, me too.
Like, you'll tell your grandkids,
they'll be like, shut up, mum.
As if you couldn't cross the border.
Do you miss the playoffs?
Like, at five a day.
And we already do that.
But yeah, that would be something I'm like,
I don't want to sound too preachy like I'm in my soapbox,
but fuck, I just think how quickly it's changed in five years.
Like, what's it going to be in five years' time?
Like, people...
Well, people already do.
They live stream their entire day.
That's crazy.
Maybe everyone seems to stop watching it.
Boycott.
Yeah.
Or just plain and simple, go and touch some grass.
But I'm like, all these extra ways of that people making money.
Like, where was that money being spent prior?
Good question.
Do you know what I mean?
People just earn more money,
which means they spend more money,
which makes the economy just grow and grow and grow.
And is there more people in the world right now?
Or are we on a decline?
No, I think, um, I don't know.
Quote, don't call me on that.
I know, unless people have a clue now.
Consularism is just added, it's like peak as well.
Yeah.
I know we're all earning more money and stuff,
but I'm just like,
where's all these extra jobs in extra money come from?
I guess a lot of things have become redundant as well.
This is fascinating.
When I was in grade nine,
I lived in Canada in grade nine.
And I remember I went to school.
I didn't have a uniform at school.
And I remember like I only had maybe two or three hoodies
that were like cool,
and my mum wouldn't buy me anymore.
And like maybe two or three pairs of jeans.
So just pretty much every day had to rotate
between those three outfits.
And I remember being like a little bit embarrassed.
Because all of my friends had like, you know,
like a new outfit's all the time.
Not heaps all the time,
but like, you know, definitely more than three
that they rotated between.
My mum didn't really prioritize that.
And I was only like, I think I had a casual job.
I couldn't really afford much for myself.
And I remember being like a little bit embarrassed,
but also kind of like whatever.
Like it's not like I'm like completely behind.
Yeah.
Imagine now being in grade nine.
If you don't have the latest fucking
fan dangle trend that's coming on TikTok,
the furbies and the bloody
mecca beauty loop and all that bullshit.
Like it is like,
I feel for these kids because the amount of pressure
that they're going to have to be buying so much shit is crazy.
I know.
I really, it's so true.
And it's expensive to run a child.
Like school uniform is great.
See, I think that too.
And I was just thinking in my head then.
I'm like, I don't know.
Like I love the idea of individuality for kids.
And exploring who you are.
But I also do think like,
is that what's actually happening at school?
Or is it just turning into competitive bullying?
Do you know what I mean?
Like whereas if everyone's just got the same uniform.
It's one less thing to worry about.
Yeah, for sure.
I think I, like I someone that's got
a very young, actually cry.
Oh.
Raffa will not be getting bullied.
We'll keep that bullied.
Yeah.
But like I, as a someone that went to school in both.
Yeah.
I can honestly say.
And like, I was never a loser.
Maybe that's why you also weren't overly embarrassed about you three uniform.
You were three hoodies because you're like, I was kind of like a uniform.
Do you know what I mean?
It's all mental.
No.
Okay.
It wasn't because of that.
It was just because I was like, I was pretty embarrassed.
But there was just not really anything I could do about it.
All my friends used to give me their hand me down.
Yeah.
I can loved hand me down.
Me too.
Loved it.
Nothing quite like rummaging through a bag of Stacey Clark's clothes.
Yeah.
Like I'm all for expression and you know, like I fucking own a fashion brand.
I'm all for like things that make you feel good and blah blah blah.
But to not to the extent where like micro trends and like fast moving content.
Like something happens one day and the next there is something else that on.
Whereas like back in the day, big things would happen in the world and you talk about it for months.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
I guess the big things were really big.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Whereas now we're probably really and truly focusing on smaller micro dramas quicker.
It's just the internet's got real life people can be creating those dramas.
ADHD is going to be rife for people because they are going to fast-paced content is just like.
And I think it's also like, anyway, this is what this is about.
That's a whole social media episode.
Back to the social media law.
Here's a good one.
This is easy.
Yeah.
Quick.
There's no man on earth that's too busy to not text you back.
Feels unless they forget.
Yeah.
And I mean, it's okay to forget.
And I would just say sorry, I forgot.
It's okay to forget if you're like in a loving relationship.
But like, if I do, it's just not texting you back.
It's because he's not interested.
It's just plain and simple.
What about this one?
Red flags don't turn green with time.
I do believe that.
I do believe that.
I think you know in your heart which flags can turn.
Fully, which isn't the best advice because I think that's so much easier said than done.
But I think deep down you do know if there's an amber flag or a fucking big bad red one.
Did there is something that I've found in my 30s that I didn't think about as much in my 20s
because I think there's like less pressure on like finding your forever person in your 20s.
Whereas in your 30s it's kind of more prevalent.
But like I genuinely get really sad.
And none of our good friends fall into this category.
But like more like, you know, friends or friends or whatever.
When I see someone have a baby with someone that is fucking bad news.
Because it's kind of like, you know, there's a million people out there that have like bad boy friends or whatever.
But if there's someone and there's just red flag like you're saying red flag after red flag.
And then they just like, but you know, oh no, but like maybe it'll get better and then boom.
They're the babies involved.
It's like now you have to have that person in your life for 18 years.
Yeah, that's the thing.
So even if they don't even if you're not with them, you still have to have some kind of contact with them.
Well, some people don't.
Some people manage to do it without it, but it's very difficult.
A lot of admin.
Yeah, I know.
I genuinely, when I see that happening, a little piece of me goes like, oh, I know.
It is hard.
It is really hard.
All right.
What about failure is feedback, not your identity?
Oh, that's good.
That's a good one.
I think that's like being able to like maybe fail at something or whatever.
But be forgiving to yourself, especially as you get older because you can really fester in things in the past.
Like you have to be able to like move through your bad times.
Don't be like too hard on yourself and like reflect on like those times.
Doesn't mean that like you're still that person.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
For sure.
And that is a hard part about getting older, I do think.
Failure.
Well, yeah, you just have to move through more like you have to navigate more shit.
Yeah, I think there's a real art which actually, okay, mine is my next one's going to be about like moving on from things.
And it doesn't necessarily need to be like failures.
It could be like maybe a, well, yeah, I guess failed relationship or a business opportunity that kind of didn't go to plan or whatever.
There is like serious magic in being able to acknowledge when something isn't working and move through it.
And then once it's done, move forward quickly.
Because I, it's taken me being single for years to get to where I am now, where I can like get back up on the horse quickly.
Whereas I used to be like, oh, it takes so long.
It takes so long.
And now I'm like, oh, yeah, that's over.
Okay, on to the next all like, you know, oh, yeah, on to a new like shiny thing or on to like being in my own era.
Like, whereas, you know, don't let it like boggy down.
Because it's hard to not.
And like, I feel like the same thing.
Like if we were to ever have any like, if the podcast was to finish God forbid.
Like I would mourn that for ages before being able to like look at doing something new.
And then sometimes all you, this podcast isn't going anywhere guys.
But like, it's kind of like you just need to be able to like proactively get back up on the horse and keep moving forward with life.
And it is really hard.
I don't know how to fasten up that process for other people.
I've just learned it with experience.
Unfortunately, you probably do have to experience it.
Yeah.
You know, which is hard.
I think I just comes at age two.
You kind of feel like you don't want to fuck around dwelling on shit.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Okay.
Saying no is a skill worth mastering.
Ooh, good one.
I think that comes into line with knowing your boundaries and protecting them.
Yeah.
Feeling like, you know, maybe you're going through a phase where you might have usually done something heaps and that you know for like your own mental health or something that you need to like chill out or whatever.
It's like you need to be able to say no to things.
Like look after yourself.
Yeah.
Look after your boundaries.
Be strong in those senses.
For sure.
Here's a good one, guys.
And I always give this advice to Nick because she's indecisive as fuck.
But everyone experiences this.
It's the same as like, you know, even me when I've sent a nasty message, baby, the night before I'm too scared to read it.
Oh, this is such a good one.
Action beats overthinking or any decision is better than indecision.
Same thing.
Same shit, bro.
I can honestly get it done because the more you sit in limbo, the more you like just make fucking do your head in.
I remember in my 20s.
And I was trying to resign from my job.
And I just kept being like, oh, this now's not the right time.
Now's not the right time.
Now's not the right time.
And I was sick.
Like I couldn't, I went to the Greek fest.
I couldn't even eat my halloumi.
I was sick.
I remember when you went to that festival.
I wasn't with you.
No, but I remember when you were.
Oh, yeah.
And I was like, I need to fucking quit my job because my flight is booked.
My trip is impending.
I am leaving the country.
I need to quit my fucking job.
And I felt so bad.
But like, had I just done it way earlier, it would have been even better because it wouldn't have...
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Just ripped the bandaid off, though.
Well, and then you know what?
So that was action beats overthinking.
It's overthinking, but I'm going to go into the next one on the flip side.
Think before you make action.
Because sometimes, if you're being really reactive in a moment, like knee jerk reaction,
you can just say things that you don't actually really mean.
Just because you're like being like super reactive.
Oh, yeah.
And you know what?
Like, again, just like to think to like, if you're getting like...
Like, we've got friends who...
Maybe their partner might have done something bad or like a boy is like kind of ghosting them or whatever.
Whatever.
It happens all the time to everyone in this world.
And they will be like, well, fuck it.
Fuck him.
And get on that real sass train.
And then sometimes, if I've ever heard any of our friends getting in that like,
well, if you're not going to fucking do this and fuck you,
go take a hot selfie in Rudy's best mate.
But sometimes, because I've done, I've had that reaction before
and it kind of backfires every time to be honest.
I sometimes now am like, as long as there's not a bottle of fucking pino in between me and the phone,
I have a moment where I'm like, is that how you really feel?
Because in a week's time, are you going to be on a backpedaling and being like,
I'm actually so sorry and I'm in love with you.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah, be up.
It's kind of easy to be like, yeah, I feel like that kind of aligns with like,
don't let your ego get in the way.
Yeah, don't let your, it does align with that.
But also just make sure like that you think before you react to things and you react in a,
or you act, you make action in a calm mindset,
especially if it's about important decision.
Yeah.
Or like, you know, you might have a, you know, bad day at work and you're like,
that's it.
I quit.
And then you're like, fuck one bad day.
Yeah, you tell it to your friends, but I imagine if you actually quit to your boss,
you're more shit.
Yeah.
For sure.
For sure.
Okay, next one.
I think learn how to apologise.
Oh, yeah.
That's a good one.
Yeah.
That kind of is, I feel like perfect little go on from then because you can be so stubborn.
Yeah.
And not, whereas sometimes it's like, if you're going to get to the end result anyway,
try and just try and get there quicker.
Yeah.
Fully.
You know, like, if you're going to, if you're, if you know at the end of the day,
this isn't fucking a deal breaker for you and that person, just have a conversation.
But we've had to have like awkward conversations before.
Oh, yeah.
And I've been like, I'll get out of my face, Nicky.
Maybe like, not this morning.
I'm like, what about the Saturday?
No.
Tomorrow.
Well, we're going to have to talk tomorrow.
But I know.
I do like a bit of a put off moment.
Again, me like to scare to open tech five.
I'm brand.
But it is so true.
Like, if you know that if something's a deal breaker with someone, then what does
I say enough to like have to yourself, which is fine too.
But I do.
For sure.
I'm also referring to when you can be stubborn.
Yeah.
And then, you know, fucking eliminate the sars earlier.
I actually was talking to someone the other day and they were explaining the situation
that they had with their ex and they referred to it as the silent treatment.
And I was like, holy, I forgot what doing that is like.
And I was talking to someone because I just don't know how to be silent.
It would have been.
But like, silent.
Don't know it.
I don't know.
It could never.
But like, maybe like, I'm still pissed off at you.
But have you seen the Alex Earl O's?
Super drama.
Literally.
But like, it's kind of like, honestly, gets you nowhere.
Really?
Especially if it's like just malicious silent treatment.
But sometimes you do need space.
Yeah.
But then you just say, I need a bit of time.
Yeah.
Communicate it.
Yeah.
Not like, this is something that I learnt in therapy years ago.
Thoughts are not facts.
Yes, babe.
So thoughts are thoughts not facts.
Exactly.
And I am a chronic oversynch, but also.
Weirdly intuitive.
I can't.
Oh, this is the story I was going to tell you.
So the other night I was thinking about this boy
that I used to hook up with.
And like, we talk maybe once every few months now.
Like, we're friendly.
And I was weirdly on this one afternoon thinking about him
like a lot.
And I was like, I wonder how he's going.
I haven't spoken to him at much age in ages.
That was it.
He definitely certainly isn't someone I think about all the time.
Like, at all.
I looked down on my phone.
He had text me.
How weird is that?
Mate.
Which is.
I was like, oh, and I literally said I was like,
that's so weird.
I was thinking about you today.
It's like when you run into someone,
then you're like, well, I was literally thought of you the other day.
Yeah.
Weird manifestation.
Right.
Mm-hmm.
Next one.
Just because your mom got married when she was 25 doesn't mean you need to.
I think this plays into a.
Just I think it's like.
As you go older and into your 30s,
I think it's so important to remember that like,
everyone's timelines different.
Mm-hmm.
And it's so fun.
The 30s are the most challenging decade of that I reckon.
I know.
Especially when there's like things happening for other people,
like, you know, weddings.
Like, you feel you're going to a thousand weddings a year
and it's like, when's my, you know what I mean?
It's like, it's hard.
But I do think like, everyone's timelines so different.
It's kind of like in your 20s, you know,
things happen at different speeds for people.
For sure.
I think your 30s is a really challenging decade
for specifically the timeline conversation.
Yeah.
Especially, well, 100% if you're a woman.
Because if you think about it,
in your 20s, it's not that weird to be single and baby free.
Yeah.
In your 30s, it's, you realistically have a biological clock.
So even if you're like, zippity dude, I day,
I'm doing whatever I want.
If you want to have a baby, like,
as much as people are like,
you've got all the time in the world.
There's really stickly a timeline.
Yeah.
And it does become this like,
man, Jim, we're discussing it the other day
because Jim's like,
this is why dating gets so obscure in your 30s.
Because for women, that...
You don't want to be the time I start.
Pressure exists.
Well, no, but for women, that pressure exists.
But for men, it doesn't.
Because they can have easily kids in their 40s.
Because they just knock up a 25-year-old.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Just the pressure of time is so much more prevalent
for women in their 30s than it is men.
And then it can make this weird kind of like,
you know, imbalance between men and women
because when you go on a date with someone
and you're like, fucking 38,
they're probably like,
does she want to have babies next week where, you know what I mean?
And I think also to that point though,
it's important to remember that like,
there's still men that really want to have families.
Do you know what I mean?
It doesn't mean that just every guy is going to be like,
oh, I'll just knock up with someone younger.
You just kind of find those people you're a line dress.
Yeah.
And that does get harder as you get older.
The pool does get smaller as I hate to sound.
Actually, something I wish I had have exercised earlier
in my life is being more open to different types.
I think when you're younger,
you just get so stuck on your type.
Like, I'd only date someone two years older
or two years younger than me and they've got to do,
do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
Now I'm like, fuck, 22 year old.
Come on over, Dullin.
You know what I mean?
He's like, you have to,
but I wish I had have done this four years ago
because I have just been nation's fuck.
Yeah.
Four years.
I've opened the, yeah.
I mean, if I was single,
I'd definitely have an older boyfriend,
an old man.
Yeah.
I'd love to give you a quick flick
through the 40 year olds on hinge on the Gold Coast babe
because I don't think you would.
I don't think you would have an older man.
Yeah.
But I'm thinking of some real mate set of 40 straight fire.
Yeah.
Divorce energy.
Would you, yeah.
Divorce energy.
Maybe.
Okay, guys.
That's 17.
We're going to park it there
