We had a few scattered showers and thunderstorms heavy downpours of rain and lightning with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. It was really nice though that some spots got a nice drink of water. The highest rainfall totals on our neighborhood weather station network powered by tempest in the first of their weather center was upwards of half an inch to one inch of rain. Now there are some spots that I didn't see any rain unfortunately, but we had a decent amount of cloud cover overhead in the afternoon kind of given us a break from that summer like heat. We were feeling during the day. We hit 86 Sunday. That's the first alert forecast today. So after we get rid of the fog this morning, it's going to be another very warm afternoon and very little changes through Tuesday and Wednesday.

1:08We will be dealing with some fog in the morning and the direction of the wind is completely going to impact where we see the fog and how dense it is because the ocean is still relatively cool compared to the warm land. If we have an onshore wind like we had mid to late week last week, that means sea fog at the coast into the afternoon and evening and then areas of dense fog overnight and into early morning. I think we see more of a southerly wind. So that may cut down on the amount of sea fog that we actually see, but I would still plan on some fog again tonight and then again Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. There's enough moisture in the atmosphere for us to see fog, especially if the wind lays down to calm and it's nice to have some humidity because one of the things we have not been talking about is the wildfire danger. It also helps to get some rain, but the drought is still serious and in the extreme category. So the first few days of this week are dry and it's going to be feeling hot by Wednesday.

2:08We're forecasting 86 today, 86 tomorrow and then 89 on Wednesday and that 89 would tie the record high for that calendar date on Wednesday, that being March 11th. Then we have a cold front that's going to move in on Thursday and this looks to be in terms of rain with this front looks to mainly be mid day and afternoon. Now this will have implications for the players championship at TPC sawgrass. I do think there is lightning as the rain storms move across the area on Thursday. There is lightning near TPC sawgrass. They will stop play on the course. So over the next couple of days, I know I say it all the time, but we are going to get a better idea of the precise timing of the rain and where the best chance for lightning and thunder will be and how that specifically pertains to the players. Right now it looks to mainly be mid day and afternoon and again, because I think there's lightning. I do think there will be a delay, but I think that is the most impactful inclement weather that we will see during the course pun intended of the players championship because that front moves through during the day Thursday and then Friday.

3:21We generally clear out turn mostly sunny temperatures will be a little bit cooler, especially Thursday with the rain and then Friday on the backside of this cold front, but looks like we get right back into the 80s Saturday and Sunday and I do need to add. There are some of the longer range forecast models or scenarios that have some rain trying to work its way in on Sunday. Thanks to an onshore northeasterly wind. If that's the case, I don't think there would be a lot of lightning, but I'm keeping rain out of that Sunday forecast right now. Like I just said a minute ago, we will be updating that forecast over the coming days. Of course, all eyes on northeast Florida and Ponte Vita Beach with one of the biggest professional golf tournaments in town.
