台詞が長いと観客は深い印象を持たない。説明は不要で、本質だけを短い言葉で刺すように語る。それがマックイーンの魅力の源だった。世界最短の詩といわれる俳句、17文字の和歌、これらの命は長い。百年はおろか、千年の後の人にも影響を与えているのは、短いからだ。映画や芝居の台詞も、式典やパーティでも挨拶も、短い方がよろしい。
