Now, maybe you just got a bunch of lightning and thunder and you were up to your knees in it, and there was barely any rain. But some spots, mainly Eastern and Southern Duval County, into St. John's County, really got some rain. There were spots in Duval that got an inch to an inch and a half, and then down into St. John's County, especially Central and Southern St. John's County. They got between two and three inches of rain. So we'll have to wait and see what the rain yesterday

1:00and the rain today does to the drought. I like to think it can put a little bit of a dent in that extreme drought, but we'll have to wait and see. It's been so dry and there's not much rain in store after we have the rain today. But we need to talk about the rain in storms today. It is a first of their weather day on this Monday because as rain in storms return, they will bring the risk for severe weather. We're checking all the boxes, damaging winds, small hail, and even a tornado or two. So the most important thing is just you need to know what to do if a warning is issued for your location. If it is a severe thunderstorm warning, hopefully you are not out driving on the road. But if you are slow down, if you are not, head inside, just stay away from windows, that's pretty easy. If it is a tornado warning, well, you need to seek shelter, interior closet or bathroom, also away from windows. Any alert that goes out, we'll let you know about it on CBS 47 and Fox 30 Action News Jax, in particular, if it is a tornado warning.

2:01If a watch is in play, well, a watch just means watch out. Inclement weather is not currently happening, but all the ingredients are in place. It's important to know the difference. A watch just means watch out. Bad weather isn't happening yet. If there is a warning, that means it is time to take action immediately or as soon as possible. Let's talk about the timeline of the rain and storms. It looks like it's going to move into Northeast Florida out toward Highway 301, as early as about 10 to 11 o'clock. Then it'll move into Jacksonville after 11 to 12, and then it moves out of the metro area, including like St. John's and Clay County. It'll move out by two to three to four o'clock. This is not an all day kind of rain, but it is going to be pretty intense while it is happening. So make sure you have a wait or receive severe weather information, and just stay weather aware. Keep an eye to the sky, especially late morning through early to mid afternoon. This looks like another quick half inch to inch of rain,

3:02and some spots may get even more than that, but then it moves out, and then it gets cold. So temperatures are going to tumble down into the 30s for Tuesday and Wednesday morning. And I don't think we have to worry about freezing or frosts in Jacksonville. We may have to worry about frost early Wednesday out toward Highway 301 and farther inland into the west, and we're tracking up in Southeast Georgia, the potential for freezes in the action news Jackson viewing area. So it's pretty remarkable for the month of March, but we are not forecasting a freeze for Jacksonville. We'll have to wait and see on Wednesday morning as it pertains to frost. I don't think we'll see that now, and we should not see it out of the beaches regardless. But this cold snap does not last long. So Tuesday and Wednesday morning will be cold, Tuesday during the day, it's going to be cold day. Temperatures will only be in the 50s, but then we just gradually warm up from there, eventually getting back to the 80s by next weekend. And there is no other rain in the forecast.

4:04It looks like an onshore wind picks up on Thursday, and that'll kind of at least prolong a bit of this cool spell about one day longer. But then on Friday, we won't see that onshore wind or that northeasterly wind, and then the temperatures will really start to take off. So it looks like great outdoor weather, especially the second half of the week and next weekend. But we still have the pollen. The oak pollen has gone nuts for about the last week. And here in the first of the weather center, we are very curious to see what the oak pollen does after the rain yesterday and today. And then again, some pretty cold temperatures. The pollen has responded very well to the cold. And when I say respond well, I mean, the numbers have gone down when it's been really cold over the last four to six weeks or so. So I think there'll still be some oak flying around. If in our best of luck, the oak has peaked over the last couple of days and going forward this week.

5:04There'll still be some pollen flying around, but maybe hopefully there won't be as much. We're tracking it.
