巫術是一種古老的信仰，施術者會藉由巫術的力量，對某些人施加影響或給予控制，以達到自己的目的，因此也被稱之為邪術，在2002年的香港，就曾發生一起為了實施巫蠱之術，竟企圖殺害五名幼童的重大案件，其中兩名女童更遭受了慘無人道的對待，一時之間震驚了全香港社會，此案在當時被稱為香港最恐怖的變態連環殺人案，而兇手更是被香港警方及媒體稱之為「魔鬼屠夫」
