Coming up, the latest episode of 21 Questions. Here, on KC Sports Network. What's up everybody? Welcome to another edition of 21 Questions. The question and answer show about your Kansas City Chiefs and some other things here. My name is Craig Stout and I am joined by my good pal and frequent collaborator on this podcast with me. I can't keep

you off of here, Ryan. I just love talking to you so much. It's my good pal. Ryan Scott Hall. How are we doing, buddy? You know, Greg, I'm, uh, I was about to say I'm great. Uh, you know what? I'm having a ride. I'm having an excellent day. We have breakfast for dinner. Uh, one of my favorites. You know, I got to have, uh, I had a blueberry pancake and then I had like a con pancake. I did want to beat you. It was fantastic. Uh, so yeah, I couldn't be happier than being able to sit back and talk chiefs. I feel like I'd had to dust myself off a little bit here. Uh, you know, and you just said, no, break you have a season form. Yeah. Any opportunity to get on the mic with, uh, with you. And ultimately just really at this point being able to talk chiefs. Yeah, man. I feel, I feel, I've been, uh, I've been zipped up. Yeah. I know. We'll work here to unload all of this. Um, I was speaking of, you mentioned breakfast for dinner. I had some of Dave Chang's

wavy noodles with some tinned fish on top, some, uh, Keepee mayonnaise and some Japanese barbecue sauce with some fureka ke on top of it. Oh, man. Yeah. That was, that was my dinner. So yeah, we both thriving with, with that. We'll get to more food talk. This is the end of the day. I know. I know I listen, I found this out very recently about you last time you came out and you were, I was lucky enough to have you come to our house and bless us with our, or with your presence. So yes, we won't get started on tinned fish. We will have some food questions, but we got to start off with football questions here. Um, we're doing something a little bit different today. We're doing questions from the discord, but Ryan went out and asked for some questions. We got some questions from some people outside of the discord as well, including one from a very special person that we'll get to a little bit later. Well, we're going to start with the discord here and some chiefs talk. We are going to start with Lazarus Long here.

Lazarus Long goes out of his way to say or their way to say national talking heads love to point out the statistical decline of Patrick Mom since his last MVP. What do you think? having an actual legitimate running threat on the team actually do from a home's as numbers? Are they going to pump them up even if these throws five to 10 fewer passes at game in 2026, Ryan? How do you, how do you feel about that? You know, the reason that it feels like the chiefs brought Kenneth Walker into this offense is because they've been so bad with explosive plays. That's just been what is I mean, truly historically bad. Please go read his Derkis sub stack with with all the numbers on this where the chiefs, I mean, like truly two of like the five worst seasons with explosive plays in however whatever the sample size is in place probably 20 years or more, right? Like it's it was historically bad and it's not just because Kenneth Walker is

one of the most explosive running backs over the past two seasons that he played in Seattle. It's also that because he will affect the way the defense is covering the chiefs, that makes them more explosive in the passing game. Ideally, like that is that is the plan that it feels like they're trying to execute at least, right? Yeah, it does. It does. And I mean, I mean, you just look at there are so many things that really kind of encapsulate all of this. A great question was asked in the discord in the chiefs channel earlier this week about what will what's a metric that could be used to try and quantify a quote unquote better offense because you know, you look at some of those advanced metrics. It's like, oh, the chiefs were seventh in EPA per play through like week 13 last year or something like that. It didn't feel like it, you know, they're not top three in points per drive. Right. I mean, like, like some of the metrics that

are hit like hallmarks of that team going to three straight super bowls, those numbers were still there, but I mean, I guess the story ultimately ended up being going from at least one year to the next 12 and 0 to like one in 10 in once were games, you know, so that that's like this teeter-tonner thing that happens. And I don't know if they're going to just bounce right back up. I mean, six wins last year, I don't know if they're going to suddenly have 13 this year again, right? But, you know, the question about how having Kenneth Walker will affect my homes and like, I guess numerically, I don't know, man, I've seen people like, and you know, my partner, his dirtness, he's like, I he's expecting like MVP level season because my homes has all of this pissed off energy. I mean, he was ranked like 17th in the top 100 like, like, Pat was counting off when he was like number three or four in the rankings or something. And so like, like, can you imagine all the counting that

this guy would have to do? And that honestly might be a really fun celebration to see for you. Yeah, especially like week one against the Broncos. Go go throw for five touchdowns and be like, I don't know, I don't know. Yeah. But yeah, I he could have an amazing year. I mean, it certainly seems like at least the plan right now is the most forward thinking. Instead of them trying to just stay like one little step ahead of defenses over that run where it's like, it's about being efficient. It's and you know, not taking too many risks and being able to take eight drives and and and when football games, I think that this suits the team better. And so I do think that we'll see some better numbers from my homes. But I don't know if he's going to be like an MVP level. Do you think he's going to hit 4,000 yards passing? That seems like that sort of traditional benchmark of the new era. But like, you know, I think like Caleb Williams is still trying to search for that

number. And there's the way the teams are running the ball. I don't think that there's, how many guys threw for 4,000 last year? Do you have that? I mean, I don't, I could look that up really quick if you want to vamp a little bit or, you know, while I'm while I'm doing that, I think one of the things that I looked at the most while I'm looking for that is, you know, the fact that teams did not fear the Chiefs run game in any way, shape or form last year was baffling. Like, it really was. The Chiefs would see the most advantageous box counts of any team in the league. It wasn't close. Yeah, they really, really were in a situation where nobody was scared of Isaiah Pacheco or Kareem Hunt. They had some of the lowest yards before contact of any running back duo in the league. They had the lowest box count of any offense in the league. Nobody feared the run. Everybody was

playing the pass. And all of us, I think, you know, Ryan, I'm maybe speaking for you a little bit here, but I know a lot of people sat there and went, what's wrong with the passing game? What's wrong with the passing game? What's wrong with it? They were constantly seeing unfavorable looks in the passing game. They couldn't even effectively run pro play action because there was no run threat whatsoever. So when I look at this and I see, you know, what are some stats that could say this offense looks or feels better because ultimately in the chat, what it ended up being was I'll know it when I see it. You know, it's a vibe sort of thing. Like, the offense, I'm going to feel like it's more fun. You know, this is more enjoyable to watch rather than it being a slog. I can tie that to two things. One of them is box count. You know, if the box count percentage like it goes way up now all of a sudden for the Chiefs because teams are afraid of not just Kenneth Walker, but Emmett Johnson and maybe even for sure, Smith, who knows or the screen game, you know, trying to load the box a little bit more. The other one is man coverage.

Everybody just went auto man against the Chiefs teams that don't run man at all decided that they were going to run man coverage against the Kansas City Chiefs because they didn't have anybody that could be man coverage. Now, I don't know if they do this year or not, but you know what forces teams out of man coverage more often running the ball corner backs don't want to turn away from the play. They don't want to run defensive coordinators don't want their edge and perimeter players turning their back to the backfield. If the Chiefs have a guy like Kenneth Walker, they can get to the edge, put his foot in the ground and really run into open space. They are going to have to play more zone if the Chiefs run game is more effective. That's just how it is. And we know the Chiefs have a bunch of zone beaters out there. That's what their weapons primarily are. And we've seen my homes dissect that. So those are the two. If I see less man coverage this year because teams are afraid of the run and higher box counts, I feel pretty good about my homes cresting that 4,000

yard mark. Were you able to pull that up while while I was vamping there? Yeah, right, Matt. Yeah, it's not that any. There was there were six in both. Yeah, we're and 25. And before that, 2023 dating back probably five or six years, it's like 10 or more almost every year. And so the numbers are still down for sure. And I don't know if we're I don't even know if teams are necessarily loading up right now to try to you know beat teams through the air. If you look at like one of the biggest trends in the draft, it's that like run blocking tight end type that all of these teams see none of that bond. You know chasing after the McVase stuff of I think largely people are thinking 12 and 13. Yeah. So I mean, and that that was stuff that Andy was doing a few years ago. We keep saying how Andy's not innovating and they had the largest percentage of 13 personnel during that Super Bowl run.

You know, and I don't know what they have the personnel. They literally have four tight ends on the roster. It better use them. I mean, if you're up for them together, I think they have about one and a half tight ends, but maybe about three quarters of a blocker. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's not it's it's not my favorite deaf chart. But you know, Craig, I think I think we're kind of in this neighborhood. So can we bounce to one of my questions? Yes, let's let I want to before we bounce to that real quick here, I do want to say Patrick Mahomes, if he would have played 17 games last season, 4,355 yards passing. That's the average that he had through 14 games. And yeah, I know he got hurt at the end of that one there. So he actually would have finished fifth in the league in passing yards. And that is shocking to me as somebody watched that offense as, you know, with the kind of scrutiny that I did that he

still would have been this in the league in passing yard. Just absolutely shocking. So yes, let's pivot though. Let's go to a question here. Well, think about Mahomes. Think about what kind of numbers he might be putting up. His darkness sent us a question. And you know, I think I think that there's something I want to tie this to. It might be a loose strand, right? But Dirk said, what's your record prediction if I tell you that we beat Denver in week one, right? Versus the record prediction if I tell you that we lose to Denver. And it almost makes me like think about not just that game, but certainly that opening four week plus the buy in week five stretch for them. I think they have like the either number one or number two easiest opening stretch. And then it's like a card at the end, right? Yeah. Which kind of sets up for the chiefs,

you know, that I guess I would be knowledgeable. You're supposed to be playing your best football at the end of the year. They go and young on defense so they should look good at the end of the year. Some of that stuff sure makes sense. But I'm wondering if if Patrick comes out in week one, and they just absolutely rain, hellfire all over the Broncos and just trounce them in week one. And then and then get to go on and play teams like like Indy and I can't you remember how Miami is week three. See Vegas is week four. They come on. Right. And then they go on by, right? And so it's like it's this it is. It seems like the NFL turned the difficulty down for Patrick. And if if if they come out guns blazing man like then then I think the chiefs odds whatever they may be on their win totaled and and Patrick's odds wherever they may be on the MVP like when they go in in that by week. Dude, everybody's gonna be like look the chiefs are back. Well, but like they

will be the talk of the league. And it's and it's even if there's some cupcakes, right? I mean, you'll have some trackers, right? But I do I do wonder if the chiefs lose that first game. I don't. Does it do you feel like that's like some horrible thing for them? Even if they get their asses kicked, they still have those three games following it up. And it's like, well, you know, Denver only didn't go to the Super Bowl because Bonaix got hurt. Like they were the best team in the AFC last year. So I think it's kind of I think I could explain it away as a chiefs fan that I'm like, I don't know if I expect them to win the game so much. Yeah, I think, oh, man, I can't wait for this to be clip later, Ryan. I'm really I'm gonna go get out over my skis. I think three and one is the lowest that they are going to be going into the buy. Like I think I think it's either three and one or four. No going going into the buy there. So I can't wait for something to happen.

Anyway, I, you know, I think that there is a path for that Broncos game to be you mentioned the defense. It's specifically the defense being young and they are and it's a lot of guys that haven't played together very much. I mean, that's the underrated part of what we're talking about here. Those reps, everybody's focused on reps with the offense playing together and who's playing tackle and who's going to be available and all of that. It's like a lot of those guys have played together already. Even even if you're talking about Jalen Moore who hasn't played very many games, he played a lot of practice with these guys. He's familiar with the terminology and everything like that. The weapons outside of the running back room are all familiar with the terminology. Those guys will be fine. On defense, there's a whole lot of players that have never stepped foot on the field together before they got into camp this year. And that is scary against the team that is going to run the ball with out of the Broncos. That is going to run the ball and is going to get vertical any sort of miscommunication with guys that they have on the field

specifically Jalen Waddle is terrifying. I think Bo Nick sucks at football, sucks at quarterbacking, but he throws a pretty deep ball like that's that's something he's really good at. You could convince me that the chiefs come out and that offense isn't just a run heavy offense, although I think that they should because that's where the Broncos are weakest, but there's an opportunity here where Patrick Mahomes comes out and they look good in the passing game as well. They put up a bunch of yards and some points against a very good Denver Broncos defense, but the chief lose a close one because the chiefs defense hasn't gotten any other communication down yet they haven't grown into it very much. I can walk away from that game being upset at the defense and still thinking like you said at the end of this year we've seen Spags figure this out multiple times, especially with young guys it will get there. I can get to the point where I go oh the thing that we need to be

focused on is the offense looks good and we should be excited because we know the defense is going to get fixed and the offense looks like that against a good defense in a loss. I can still come out of that thinking okay yeah I think that the chiefs are actually going to make a good run this year deep into the playoffs. They come out and get obliterated by the Broncos. Jerry still out at that point like I'm not going to be oh they're O16 oh that they're going to be abysmal going into the buy I still think the three and one going into the buy and three and one is not a bad place to be so I don't know do you how do you feel if they come out and they lose that game let's say not that they lose a close one they get blown out in that game. It might make me think a couple things you know those those like intrusive thoughts the okay and you know just I'm just going to make note of that but also like I don't know exactly where I expect this team to be I believe they

have the youngest or like second or third youngest roster in the NFL it is the youngest yeah okay so youngest team in the league and as you said like with youth comes a lack of communication a lack of chemistry and all these different things and and so we expect this team to be on that like it's literally the plan from SPACs and then is that like oh yeah yeah it's this is going to be hard and honestly man I think it's I think it's one of the best things about the way that they chose to go about this team because it's essentially 2023 right it's it's the draft or wait is it 2022 2022 right the guys that we just do what you did yeah right the exceptional class that where they get the extra picks you know they make the trade of Tyreek and they reload and most you know largely it's all of these big time contributors on defense and you know SPACs at

that point the season before it's it's when we're begging take this guy off the field like take this dude off the field you know all all sorts of different names that probably have haunted your dreams right uh he's dance swords and still playing you know stop giving them nomen snaps right and so it literally had to get to that point where hey you're your best options Steve we got to play the kids and and and I think that this season like man I hear I was listening to Bill Simmons he's talking about how man that chief secondary is super young like it's it's really young I don't know what you're not and I'm like if you if you are not following this team and you don't know the profile of no Williams and you don't know how he fits like a glove into this defense like and and and you're just like well they have delaying and and we'll see I mean do they are those guys are absolutely loaded in at least the corner I'm I'm I'm just absolutely loving the build overall

from top to bottom all right so we have a little technical difficulty uh let me present it to you this way right I got I got a little question for you um what do you think is the best path for this offense this season because you know when when we get asked questions about like what do you think the homes as numbers are going to be because people want to see the show right right you you mentioned fun like man Thurkin I've been trying to talk about bring back the fun to play football for Patrick Mahomes for like three years you know uh and and that's why I think what people want but I think that's also what defenses still want here that it plays right into the hands of a lot of defenses across the league and so I just I don't I don't know that I want to see the same you know song and dance of of you know we're trying to to roll the boulder up the hill against like the the perfect defense to try to stop us and we're

playing the same old hits I I just don't I know that having kent walker changes the math right but if they don't if they don't shift and actually find more balance offensively I'm I'm scared about what it might look like so so what do you think like is it is it best for them to get back to Patrick Mahomes and and they're throwing the ball you know 60% of the time and ken walker makes it easy but they don't actually you know necessarily change that approach and they're they're still just out there trying to to zing around is that what they're supposed to be doing because he's the best who's the best player on the planet he is but at the same time like he's coming off of an injury I fully believe he's gonna be ready I think he's gonna come out guns blaze and I'm I'm with dirk that you're gonna get the most pissed off version of Patrick Mahomes that we've ever seen and we've seen that man be play pissed off before it it's not good for defenses but to your point they've been running the same stuff like they keep running the same stuff over and over again

vans joseph is going to walk out there week one and he's gonna think okay I generally know what andy reads about to run against me I have to execute well because and he's got airick the enemy in the house he's gonna be building a better game plan he's gonna recognize a lot more the game flow because he's had more time during the week to do some of that sort of stuff but in reality it's largely gonna be the same stuff they're not adopting the meta they're not going heavy personnel and running as a matter of fact I don't even know that they hit 45% in their in their run rate for reference I know that's gonna piss some people off they want they want like a really balanced approach the cheese were about 41 42% last year so that is an increase I think that they'll get closer to 45 but I don't know that they crest it and I think I'm okay with that because they don't need to run the ball more in my opinion Ryan I don't think that they need to run the ball more especially since

Kenneth walkers efficiency is not great I say what you will about the cheese running backroom in the past three years they've been ridiculously efficient you need a three yards they got three yards now you need five yards they got three yards you needed seven and it was blocked up for seven as I have to check I was gonna run into the back of Creed Humphrey and fall down at three yards like that's that's what was going to happen I think we see a few more tackles for loss this year and so you don't want to just dial that number up where now all the sudden you risk being in second and 13 and third and 15 more because you're running the ball more on early downs I think you want to sprinkle it in in a way that makes sense because conversely you're gonna have some of those negative plays but you're gonna have the giant boom plays Kenneth walkers gonna run for a 65 yard touchdown this year he just is it's going to happen I 100% believe it think of the Damian

Williams running back offense the Damian Williams running style but better that's what Kenneth Walker is so like that's what it's going to be and we were frustrated with the efficiency of that and Andy was too why he didn't try and run the ball more I just think it's about quality to your point we talked earlier explosive plays hitting explosive plays man you hit one or two explosive runs in the first four weeks against those soft defenses you've got guys in weeks six seven eight nine ten that are defensive coordinators that are looking at that going damn it man we we might want to put a couple of more guys in the box make sure that Kenneth Walker doesn't break one like that's that's what it is you just got to hit one or two to kind of loosen everything up and then you hit a passing play off of some of that off of play action now that loosens things up a little bit more it's about being unpredictable and I don't think it needs to be a dry a giant drastic

schematic change although that would be fun I would enjoy it I think it's just got to be hitting those opportunities and making defenses pay when you see them and having a guy like Kenneth Walker that can do that versus two guys in the backfield for the past three years that simply couldn't even if they had the runway to do it couldn't do what he's going to be able to do I think that's the real difference there and you don't have to really change the offense too terribly much uh so I want to press on you for a second because at the beginning of that you said that you expect them to have like more like tackles for loss basically be less efficient than they were last year um why it's just why do you like to make sure yeah because Kenneth Walker and Emmett Johnson although Emmett Johnson has really worked on this in camp and my intrusive thought or you know one of the things I've talked about in the lab this week was this running backroom looks really good like

they might be like the shit good with legit good coaching like I'm very excited but Kenneth Walker has been throughout his career very inefficient he tries to bounce the ball very often it's not there immediately he's gonna try and bounce the outside because if he gets the edge and he puts his foot in the ground guess what that's 60 yards like he he he makes it worth it it's think of it if I can put this in the terms of chiefs football here think of Chris Jones you can get frustrated about Chris Jones not being in his gap or you can look at that and go Chris Jones was out of his gap twice but the one earlier four times or whatever was out of his gap four times but two times this week he had a massive tackle for loss it's the boom bust nature of it Emmett Johnson was a guy that danced and tried to bounce things very frequently we've even seen in training camp that Kenneth Walker is consistently breaking back bending back against the defense and trying to bounce it back those

are things as you stop your feet behind the line of scrimmage you give the defense opportunities to try and take you down behind the line of scrimmage and he does that more than an Isaiah Pacheco who was always trying to just run forward except for when he was catching a swing pass or Karim Hunt that had good vision it was going to find the gap just couldn't do anything because he lost all the juice that he had I think we just see a lot more of feet stopped behind the line of scrimmage from those two guys in particular which can result in more tackles for loss I look I think that's possible all right I also think that he's being coached by Eric B enemy and and so like like I thought I would that was going to be some some cleaning up of some of that and look it might be tough you know to teach that dog some new tricks it might be kind of difficult right because if that's part of what has made Kenneth Walker great is is the risks that he's willing to take

for those explosive plays and you just kind of have to have to take that the good with the bad I guess it might be really hard to break him of those habits but I would think if anybody can do it it's Eric B enemy and so like and honestly I even really have the faith that in the past when Kenneth Walker was at his best in Seattle apart from the stretch in the playoffs when they just skyrocketed his usage and he met the moment and was amazing and it led to him getting his contract frankly like when he was at his best in Seattle it was when he was balanced with Charbonne and like listen Ken hey we paid you a ton of money but if you're not doing what Eric B enemy wants you to do that he will yank you out of the game and put somebody else on the field and and with a talented running back room Craig it's not necessarily a terrible move to say hey in it you're going to go get a series and if Ken goes back there and does the dumb thing again hey in it you're going to go

get another series like it's these aren't bad things for the team and so I like I I'm I'm with you that maybe the running style could put them in some bad spots but man I'm I believe that this chiefs because when I think about Kenneth Walker too in terms of the run pass here Kenneth Walker is the second best player on this offense behind Patrick Holmes he is our best weapon I'm sorry he's better than every other pass catcher on the team and Travis Kelsey and him that's the fight yeah and so I'm just I just think that like I think that they're going to be a lot of plays where they just want to throw the ball to you know I mean whoever it is wide receiver five royals running around out there or something and I'm just like no hand the ball off hand the ball off screen I mean get the ball to screen yeah because because I think that Ken Walker and I and I think

that Amy Johnson I even I even really like some of what we have seen from for sure Smith and there are packages of place for him where he can be an effective weapon on this offense and honestly I think the the bad news that I take from what I want there is that when they cut Demercato and he he got claimed right he I can't remember where he went somewhere else Dallas Dallas right I frankly thought they should have kept Demercato just to be able to have all those bodies he's he's got his skill set of being a great pass protector but he's also an explosive player I mean don't get me wrong he did drop the ball like right before the goal line one time last year but that was after like it's the or ADR touchdown I mean like on time but I mean what he that is an explosive player too right and so like I I was honestly I really thought that happened for running backs with signals something that like they really are invested in changing this and and maybe they still will be right they don't have to have for running backs in order to do that but

I'm very passionate about wanting to see them literally run the football more and I don't I don't know if we're gonna get that it might it might be uh it might be a fool's errand thinking that way but that's what I've been feeling man I know I know well I'm feeling a break real quick here Ryan we've got more after this a couple more running back questions we get some award predictions we got to do and we got food stuff that we're gonna wrap this up with at the end of this we will be right back after this shop chiefs tickets and more with no fees plus say big with code KCSN at tickets for less dot com the official ticket provider of KC sports network my name is Torel jolly a lot of people call me TJ founder and CEO of integrity capital management so integrity capital management originally started out as a property management firm but we slowly transitioned to what is described as an incremental development firm as focused on situational housing I know most people

say affordable but we believe in creating housing for people that are actually in need and build to the end user I believe everyone needs a home because when you have home you have hope reality is that when you're building a business one thing you don't think about is like what a true banking relationship means and you know I had the honor and privilege of meeting that be early on in my career when I was just trying to get going as a small business it's really challenging at times because people don't understand the concept or not believe in longevity because you're just getting started but Debbie was willing to take a chance on me take the patient with me I almost look at like a graduate initiative she's seen she's seen and believe what I'm about anybody that's really true about their business and want to get some things done I would definitely trust hands down and prize because Dev's team along with Erin and Jackie and all the amazing people that work behind the scenes even from the treasury side I would say hey give them opportunity because you won't be disappointed and you will actually be in hands that actually

somebody care and I will see you from start to finish all right we are back 21 questions I'm crazed out that is Ryan Scott Hall got to point the other way forget some time this layer of me I'm a year over there so all right got some good questions here Ryan I believe we've made it through what three questions two questions doing you know we answered a lot though we answered a lot yeah we did answer a lot let's let's burn through a couple of these right now the 87 says if the cheese of known they would get Emmett Johnson to the fifth round and know what they know about him right now at the preseason would they still have signed and paid Kenneth Walker I think I know you're answer about this I know mine but yeah what I really want is to be able to have the hindsight of how much the other running backs got paid and now feel like Kenneth Walker is literally already a bargain just a few months later kind of yeah I mean I think that they would have yeah I mean I

was not the only person on the planet to identify the fact that the chiefs had to overhaul that running back room and they did it in a big way and it does feel like they kind of hit a home run there I don't think they would have I don't know no I think they find themselves in a really good spot you know and I don't think they would want to go back and change that it right now looks like a strength and something that they can and probably are going to lean on in certain respects yeah I don't think that they would have felt kind of running backs get hurt my and lean this as well you know running backs get hurt like that's a thing Walker's got a history of it too absolutely absolutely it's just nagging stuff it's just here and there sort of stuff it's a game or two having an Emmett Johnson in your pocket is real nice right about now and yeah to your point to cares Walker I believe he's nine and average for APY we were doing our running back rankings you know when we rank

every position so far the season on the lab I had him at night I properly paid and properly rated and he was a guy that got near top of the market money when the chiefs paid him like you can't be mad about that I think I think they need the two headed monster back there for all the reasons you talked about with the enemy and here's the other part we're excited about Emmett Johnson because what we've seen so far is a completely different player than he was in college and we like them in college like we did we liked the the tape he is more decisive he's better at catching the ball Andy says he's good in pass pro like there's a lot of things to be excited about with Emmett Johnson I am very excited about it you know what we haven't seen Kenneth Walker what if he's taking those next steps those same next steps that Emmett Johnson did because he's got Eric being a meantom Marco Murray in his ear like imagine what that looks like maybe then ranking him ninth out of you know out of all the running backs in the NFL is going to look foolish because he's

higher than that it would be fun to be in that scenario so I'm okay with both of them I know Lee's okay with both of them as well he's also in a brassca fan so I get why he's asking this I do I completely get it here but that's okay that's okay our guy Joel Penfield asks you kind of talks about how feeder woods play a little bit of offense short line goal goal line packages when when he was over there Clemson is there a chance we get hungry pig right 2.0 this season didn't didn't Tonga do some last year in New England too yes he did yeah you're absolutely you're getting you're getting like he's going to call it like the the double burger or something you know because he's got two fullbacks or something what's his burger place which he's town well he likes town topic yeah yeah yeah they're they're gonna do something I'm sure right because

being able to to put both of those big bodies out there it's it's just way too tempting and he loves the big guys he does he does oh honestly I want to tell you that it wouldn't be great for one of them to hand the ball off to each other like oh my goodness like like a direct snap to right your way to run the read option with pirus Tonga that's what I'm talking about man if they line up in the back like if it if this is like a pistol formation like a double barrel pistol formation which is an anti thing like you know he's got this in his arsenal with kyrus Tonga and Peter Woods on either side of like it could be a direct snap to Travis Kelsey for all we know with Patrick Holmes Biden we see him use that formation a lot the moment they line up and both of those guys are on either side whoever's catching the ball I am going to be up off of my couch about three inches from the TV just screaming for them to hit to give the ball to one of them or both I you

know just like I'm excited and again that goes back to all this we haven't had some of this unstuff yeah the stuff that they've run that's been the quote unquote fun or trick plays and stuff like that is all stuff that they've done before it's not new it's not invented not to you know Rose Bowl parade you know that was something out of an ancient thing but like that's fun it's not ever new there's nothing really new in in football it's just reusing different things and putting different window dressing on it they've not been doing that and so Eric be in the me being here and running the day to day means that Andy Mike do some more of that and get excited to do some more of that so 100% agree that they're going to use the big guys in goal line packages it's going to be great I think some of the best creativity we're going to see this year is probably in the screen game too and I don't I don't know if you can get those two big fellas involved in a screen somehow but that might be fun to see see the big boys run especially Peter Woods with like a you know

as lean as he plays oh get him out in space folks let's let's let's try to blink for a long one Peter Woods as a lead blocker would be get off a lot of fun like in the low red you've got kingsley Josh Simmons and Trace Smith pulling and you've got the ball the Peter Woods running behind those three yeah there's a lot of something that's sensing Trace for Andy yes that's scary um Justi R.K asks who wins the Mac Lee Hill award after this season is a really good one like I saw that that's the that for those uninitiated the Mac Lee Hill award is the one awarded to the chief's best rookie like that that's typically who they give it to a lot of candidates this year right do you have somebody that jumps to mind these think this year specifically they got a lot of developmental guys this year specifically you think is going to be that guy oh I'm just going

to be a sort of lane um he is of all those guys going to play the most snaps he's going to be relied on the most he's going to have the most opportunities to make plays um and and I think that I don't really know how offenses are going to attack them because it's like picking on one or the other the neither one are experienced so you know I mean it's like I don't know that they're just going to suddenly say let's throw it at the lane all the time or whatnot yeah um there's not feel like Philip gains out there like there's it yeah yeah and so I just think and and Frank I believe Matt Allen man um I believe it at a hundred percent he I think that my only concern on him was was maybe just a perception that he's a bit slight uh but my god he's physical um and and I think that I think what might drill this home for people that are like very specifically with

whatever we are elder millennials um he transferred to lsu from Virginia Tech and that's all that's all I need to know maybe use baby style of play and and the pedigree and all that said it's like as soon as I saw Virginia Tech I said I know exactly what type of player this guy is and I cannot wait to watch him play for Kansas City for hopefully longer than Trent McDuffy did you know like I just I want to see him get a second contract instantly because I'm just I can't wait to watch him and and the little stuff that we saw in the preseason was exactly the same things that we were seeing from Trent McDuffy in his preseason where it's like this dude is attacking down hill against the run he is breaking up these screenplays he is aggressive he's making up ground when he gets beat he's still going you know being able to reach in and and the instincts the technique all of this stuff and I am just that guy has me very very excited it sucks to see McDuffy go but man what a cool opportunity for him to go home and then be able to play with Miles Garrett and Aaron tunneled

like I don't know Angela Watson his buddy he gets to play with this buddy yeah yeah not to mention you know all the weapons that they have in offense and and Shama Bay and Los Angeles of it all on his darkness you know like it's they're they're having a great time they're all having a great time Los Angeles yeah how how is uh did has Dirk introduce the new baby to oh yeah okay good good good good I'm glad that that relationship is strong um notice making the ass everybody's gonna learn his name right yeah um I do think that that's probably the obvious answer I feel like we've collectively slept on Mansour Delane just not not just in chief's kingdom but as a whole there's not a whole lot of hype about him like when you hear people talk about defensive player the year candidates it's well to Rubin Bain which again you know I'd hand up on that one I wanted Rubin Bain still think he's gonna be a really good player and all of that but like so I mean he is it's the same time like we talked about him so much we hyped him up so

much that when Mansour Delane came it almost felt like a balloon deflated a little bit for an exceptional cornerback I mean that's that's what it was because everybody was like oh man it's finally happening they're doing the thing here's the thing that they're gonna do David Bailey gets a lot of run as a guy that they talk about is oh it could be Caleb Downes sunny styles our valries Mansour Delane doesn't get mentioned at all and I think he has a chance to come in here play in this defense with a good corner opposite him and Noel Williams that plays very physical a defense that's going to be a tone setting defense that play very physical yeah they may be a little bit rough early but he plays the way Spags amounts him to there is every opportunity that we get midway through the season and our pals that are on the bigger shows and things like that like Nate Tyson's gonna be like if you guys watch Mansour Delane like you should be watching Mansour Delane like he is playing exceptional football we live in that world where I think that's going to be the

case I think realistically the only other guy that it could be is Emmett Johnson and that's just if you can walk past him at some time and you got a lean on that guy a little bit more yeah he's going to go out there and play he's going to be he's going to be up to the challenge he's going to look pretty good and he's going to put up stats and touchdown numbers and things like that whereas Mansour Delane may not get thrown at so you know there's there's only so much that you could do there from a box course scouting perspective luckily the chiefs are the ones that vote on this so they can fully recognize Mansour Delane there I think it's interesting that we didn't mention Peter Woods in consideration for this at all which I agree with by the way I think you're two three I'm there with him like I think you'll get there or our Mason toss right and I know you got a question about our Mason toss you know I did yeah so our buddy at chief smash 85 I'm assuming 85 is the year he was born same here good uh what is Craig Stout a realistic

expectation for our Mason Thomas this season looks great in preseason but when going against starters and high and talent what would be considered a good first year something similar to George maybe mashing age PKC hashtag Craig is great did he really do the Craig is great 100% I know it's it's it's right there I thought maybe you were just slipping that in as something that you could try and like needle me with but now you're okay well honestly Craig my my question was I'm recording 21 questions with Craig the great one tonight so so drop your queries in comments that's what I said I you know I got it I appreciate I appreciate the question no um I don't think it will be George I don't think it will be the level of George just because I'm well you know I'm gonna

say this I'm gonna talk out of both sides of my mouth real quick here I don't think he's gonna play as many snaps as George did his rookie year I don't George started all 17 games his rookie year he played a lot of snaps he had six sex eight TFL 11 QB hits as a very good season and it got him kind started off on the right foot there yeah I think our Mason Thomas is going to be in a small amount of a timeshare now they don't have another guy that is really challenging him for this I don't think that they have a very strong defensive end room they're gonna rotate some dudes in just like they always do you know George comes off the field too he's not playing a hundred percent with the SNES playing close to it but he's not playing a hundred percent of the SNES our Mason Thomas is not going to be out there on heavy down situations on third and two you don't want our Mason Thomas on the field he's not gonna be out there you're gonna have Felix you're gonna have Ashton Jalotti

you're gonna have somebody out there that's a bigger body in case of the run George was not leaving the field in those scenarios his rookie year so I don't think it'll be six sex I did look up D Fords rookie year though I did look it up okay and I think it's I think it's better than D as a matter of fact I'm going to say it's as good as D Fords sophomore year campaign and Kansas City I think we are talking about a guy couple of passes to Finst four sacks 11 QB hits six tackles for loss and I think that is an exceptional season for a guy that we expected to just come in and be a designated pass rusher four sacks four reference would have been very high up on the list last year for the Kansas City Chiefs in their in their sack totals that's not bad but I do think his impact much like D in in his sophomore year like that four sacks is misleading you know he was going out

there with Justin Houston and Tom Baha'i and a bunch of other guys that were getting after the passer pretty well and so he was actually in a race to the quarterback to try and get to some of those guys he was forcing the quarterback to step up into the pocket where Justin Houston was bull rushing a tackle up there was able to get some of these sacks so I do think that his impact is going to be felt you're going to see our Mason Thomas's full impact in Chris Jones and George Carlisle's sack numbers that's where it's going to be and then year two I think we see him take that further step because what we've seen out of him already is more than I thought maybe we'd see all year like I really thought he was going to be lighter guy I love his willingness to play against the run even though he's not heavy enough to stand up against a big offensive tackle that's fine I don't need him to it's a willingness but it's his first step his ability to use his hands his ability to get inside the tackle his counter moves they're already enough there to where I think

he can win at the NFL level for reference after that four sacks year with D4 he went 10 sacks the next year 10 I'm not saying our Mason Thomas is the 10 sack guy next year yet but I think he's very much on that arc so I'm looking at D4's year two three not four because he got hurt but then five years to to kind of say oh okay this is how I see him in spags as defense how about you I think a realistic expectation for our Mason Thomas in year one is really hard for me to do because I'm not a realistic chief spam so I mean honestly what I feel like we saw in the preseason with his speed and what I personally believe about Joe Cullen as a coach Steve Specknolo as a coordinator and frankly the talent in the room

well and and we can say that they might be a bit sparse at one position or another but I'm really curious Craig armace and Thomas you said that like the other guys are going to see sack numbers because of his I'm just sure the threat of his speed or something along those lines um I feel like I think that this defensive line is maybe not being given credit at least for on paper a really dramatic improvement in talent and depth um year over year I think that there are going to be situations you were talking about how armace and Thomas is not somebody that you want on the field and the first thing that popped in my head uh was thinking about what that lineup would actually look like and and to me I think I think that there's a world where Peter Woods who played a lot of

defensive end in college plays some defensive end for this team we think that's that room is in and Chris Jones also will be you know moving around we've seen that I have no idea like what percentage of total snaps played at defensive end will be taken up by the likes of Chris Jones and Peter Woods but I would not be surprised if it was the equivalent to the fourth defensive end I would be surprised if you if I combined Chris Jones and that that they might get more than whoever is our who's our fourth is it Felix you know is it is it is it is it is it is it absolutely if the foot lingers you know like this you know but like it's it's it's possible and and we've even seen if we wanted to defend our Mason Thomas a little bit like I know that he's you know technically everyone's looking at him it's a situational speed rusher he showed up against the run in the preseason man he looked like he was able to I guess what's the terminology stack and shed a little bit right um

But I feel like I've seen the same thing from from Felix too. We're like people are like no, no, no, he's supposed to just be this this past Russia and I felt like he's played made plays against the run too. I'm not totally sure what to expect from a guy like Armason Thomas when they first when they took him I said, I don't dang it. Because I just don't I don't think Steve likes guys like this. I don't think he's a great fit. And they would know I start. Like how I don't even know if they're really going to use him, but like did my expectations are like, whoo, whoo, whoo. He just he looks great. He looks really really good. Yeah, but you know, as Chiefs Mashed said in the in the thing like, you know, the step up playing against starters. And even just the speed of the game and all that stuff. It's like, yeah, I don't know. We'll see. We'll see if four sacks feels good. I'm just going to say five. I like five feels better than me. That's fair though. Yeah, I say five sacks feels reasonable.

If if you're the optimist like me looking at how well he played in the preseason. And see me as the pessimist say four that's such a giant cliff between that four and that five between you and I that you know, I I think my favorite underlying storyline of the preseason thus far has been the complete absence of everybody being like, well, we told you Steve wasn't going to use him. We told you spags wasn't going to be able to use him despite the fact that they continually have utilized assets to try and bring in these guys. Now I know a lot of people attributed that to Brett, and they would just went, yeah, Brett's throwing these picks at Steve and Steve's just going, I'm not going to use that guy. I would the hell why you keep throwing this at me that the Josh Ushay of it all when Josh Ushay had one game what literally one game to start the next year that he looked decent and the disappeared off the face of the year that got cut from the Eagles.

And yet people still bring up all spags didn't know what to do with Ushay. Nobody did nobody did. DJ Thompson was a light guy that they brought in here. Unfortunately his career got to rail because of injuries. Felix was a light guy light vendy guy that they brought in unfortunately his career also got derailed by injuries and the fact that he can't get off the snap at the same time although that looks better this year. Armacing Thomas looks like the real deal. So I feel like this is the first guy that they got in house that is doing the little things the way that this defense wants them to. And I'm just happy to be able to bury this type thing or this we're not going to be able to bring in any light past rushers because Steve Fagnall who doesn't like anything. All right, we have come. Can I can I pause you once I would because we're talking about rookies and you asked that question about the Mac Lee Hill award. Uh huh. And I have a feeling correct that there's a lot of people that are like how have you guys not even mentioned Cyrus Allen.

Uh because I think that there are folks that have an expectation that he has a legitimate role in this offense from day one. I mean, he's just going into Canton, year one. I mean, that's why I didn't mention him. Oh, okay, so he's a whole thing. Yes. Yeah. Got it. Please ask the question. I will answer it honestly. I will drop the bit for. No, no, I mean, I guess I'm just like is there there's no realm because you said like the only other person you think it could be then delaying was Emmett Johnson. And that would be Emmett Johnson. If someone gets hurt. Right. And so that that can be people could interpret that as man sort of Lane is just amazing and he's going to get all these snaps and nobody else really will. Um, but I think there's a lot of people that think that Cyrus Allen is going to play a decent amount of football for this team. Yeah. Is that a expectation? I don't know what decent enough football is it? But if he's if he was only playing 40% of the offensive snaps, which seems like a reasonable expectation as a rookie, that would be hard to eclipse whatever man's worth playing does.

I think I put when when we talked about this legitimately and I wasn't, you know, just doing the bit where he's an automatic call a favor. Um, I think what I said, year one optimistically, you still, somebody said the over under it like 435 for these yards and two touchdowns and I said the under on both of them. But barely like I mean, I think it's like low 400s and one touchdown that he's going to have. That is a great rookie year. More a rookie slot wide receiver with a few mouths to feed in this offense like low key. We talk about how this this offense is a little bit devoid of weapons. There's a lot of guys around the same level. There's a lot of mouths to feed in this and there's a lot of different skill sets and he is also a different skill set. He's not going to get 100 targets in this year one. That's just not going to be the case. I think he will grow into a bigger, better role into a Danny Amidola role at some point in his career.

But I just don't think it's year one that we are going to see that even if I do have high hopes for him. I know he didn't look awesome in the preseason, but I also don't think he's a guy that is going to be on time within the structure of a play and he's playing with a quarterback that I love Garrett and us Meyer like I love Garrett and us Meyer and I'm excited about Justin Fields being the backup. None of those guys are like, oh yeah, they're on time all the time. You know, no, that's just not their forte. Whereas Patrick Mahomes is going to be like, oh shit, somebody beat man coverage and they're on time. I'm going to feed that guy the ball. I think we see him excel a little bit more Patrick Mahomes. Okay, we're going to do one more one more chief's question here and I've got a couple of food questions here. I do want to shout out the right Reverend Mack Frask and the four tight ends question. We kind of cover that off the top. They are very singing. You're right. We are. Yeah, I don't think that we see much of a difference in the way that they block some of this stuff up. It is a scale from one, which is our POs are us open 24 seven to 10 oops all tight ends.

Yeah, I think it's closer to that one that it is to the to the 10 there, but we did cover that one already. I do kind of want to come down here and ask this question from Casey from Casey who ends the year as the chief's right tackle. I'm not talking about a like a week 18 throw away game. I mean like this is the first choice starter for the chief's right tackle position. Look, I think the only way that it's not Jalen Moore is if he just has, you know, has like a Wanya Morris run in him or whatever where we get the point where Patrick says like I just I just I'm not going to say that I'm going to do that. I just like I just I can't man. I can't do it because I don't know shades of Cleo Benson. It's always a fun story. I mean, I'm not that guy's not ready. And I don't know that he's an interior guy. I think he's an interior guy, which is good. So is that one. I mean, who so who is the swing tackle.

I mean, I think it's Diego Pounds. Okay, cool. I mean, I'm cool with that. I'm and so maybe look, if if I was imagining Cleo Benson as the other option and I need to be imagining Diego pounds. I mean, hey, look, it feels like an upgrade, even though they're both undrafted. But yeah, I know it's going to be Jalen Moore. It's Jalen Moore. I know it's going to be happy with him, you know, right. But if he is the 20th best right tackle in the league, if he's the 24th best right tackle in the league and and left tackle through right guard, play the way that we hope and expect them to play and they're healthy. I don't give a shit. It's fine. Right. We're good. Right. We're going to be good. I was going to say, oh, the the other four guys are top, you know, a top five offensive line by themselves here. Yeah, we can cover up.

Jalen Moore. Just to be different, I will say pounds. I think they like him a lot. I think what we saw from him in the preseason already is very good. Where he went. Yeah, I know he was undrafted and all of that. I just think that a lot of people looked at him and went as a couple things that he needs to clean up. There's a couple things like that that we don't love with his foot speed and things like the anti read loves a guy with good foot speed. Jalen Moore doesn't have it, but loves guys like that. So I think there were a lot of questions about his ability to hold up the arc, especially for a Patrick Mahomes, you know, that dress out the back of the pocket sometimes. So I can understand why teens went. I don't know, especially when in the middle of this draft, it just seemed like everybody was just picking every tight end. There was to pick like, you know, very tight and heavy draft.

I think he slipped through the cracks a little bit and when teams saw him playing offensive tackle for the Ravens and saw what he was there doing. They went, oh, well, wait a minute here. He went up against that speed. Rusher and handle that pretty well. We knew he handled power well and he moves and bodies in the run game. Well, we're going to wait for him to get cut because he's a backup backup offensive tackle for the Ravens if they cut him. And yeah, I just think that there was enough there for the chief to say we're not going to risk this we need to trade for him right now or before the before the Ravens consider keeping him because they did end up cutting one of their backup offensive tackles as well. He played so well in the preseason that Ravens fans are pissed off that they let him go. So like think about, you know, the people who got angry about some of the chiefs cuts and things like that, that they were pissed off that they trading Diego pound.

So I do think that they'll give him the reins if Jalen more struggles. I, but I do think it's going to be Jalen more. If there's, if there's no better image of like the razor thin margins in the NFL, it's one AFC contenders fan base being pissed that another AFC contender traded a future pick like three years from now, two years from now, for an undrafted free agent that probably won't play for either team this year. And it's and we're we're all buzzing about them. I think Yalkins last name is pounds. And if his name was Diego Smith, I don't know if it would, I don't know if that would be as much excitement around here. Or if he didn't have like long arms, I mean like that's the other part of that too. You know, we see that we're like, oh Andy Reed might play that dude. Yeah, that's it. That's where it comes from. Or cut. All right. Yes. A full. I guess a full. I mean, that's the other part about this. As a full. I like to what we saw from him. They've cut him before.

Mm hmm. The Jets to two. Like something is not clicking there. And while we see the on field is good, the chiefs had him for two years, the better part of two years. And went, nah, you know what? We need to overhaul this entire backup offensive line. And people freaked out about them cutting and keeping some of these guys and all of that. Man, the backup offensive lines sucked. I watched the preseason. You watched the preseason. We all did. They couldn't do anything with it. And then they turned around and they traded a bunch of assets. They signed a bunch of guys. And then people went, oh man, this clearly means something for the starters. It's like no guys. We all watched the same backup offensive line. They sucked. And they still kept some of these guys that I still think suck. But you know, they they are trying to over. Overhaul it a little bit here. All right. We're done with football. We got a couple more questions here. This is the part where Ryan and I are going to go deep on a couple of things here.

We're going to start with this one from Lucky Sansa. It's wife and he have two kids, nine and six. They have limited time for TV shows and movies have most streaming services. What are some campness goes slash movies that they should prioritize for reference. They just finished the first season of severance. And it sounds like they loved it. Okay. You know, severance isn't interesting show. And if that's like what I'm supposed to base their entire taste on. I don't know how to do that. I think they want to do that for stuff. Yeah. If you like severance and you like just sort of that, I think general vibe of something is off. I think that there's a lot of HBO mini series that I love. Whether it's the first season and only season of true detective, the rest of it doesn't exist.

Or like the outsider, which is a Stephen King story that got adapted. And the first season of task with Mark Ruffalo and others was absolutely sensational. Mayor of Easttown, you know, like they over and over and over again, they're hitting these like eight episode, eight hour long stories just out of the park on HBO. So if you haven't seen some of those, I would go there. I thought the first season of pluribus was super interesting. I absolutely love that actor. I can't remember what her name is, but she was in better call Saul and some others. I'll look it up. Yeah. But like man, pluribus was fantastic. If you want something that's just like in the scene, by the way, reissing the reissing horn there. Yeah. If you want to show that I think is in the same like wavelength as like a Ted Lasso, something that I know, at least a lot of Kansas City and Midwesterners in general, I think lash themselves on to do shrinking, which is also on Apple is is.

It's one of the best shows on TV right now. It's got Jason Segal and Jessica. I can't remember her last name. And Harrison Ford like it's yeah, it's really good. It's really, really good. We are still very much, I believe, in the golden era of TV TV is just there's 1000 more than I can ever get to and recommendations make it easier to choose. So I respect the question because honestly, I think we all have decision fatigue. Tell me what to do. Don't tell me what you say anything else. Do it. Yeah. I have a nine and a five year old as you know, as well. I don't have time. I have to make decisions for them constantly. I am a people leader at my workplace. I make decisions all the time. Sometimes I just want to be like, oh, that's the thing. Thank you. I really want to do that on the lighter side if we're sticking with Apple TV, just just thinking here a couple of shows that my wife and I have very, very much enjoyed.

We really like mythic quest really, really like mythic quest. Rob McElhinney, you know, it is kind of the showrunner of that from always sunny fame. A lot of always sunny people in it. Very heartfelt show about running a video game like that's what it is running it running an immo video game. But incredibly heartfelt like really, really good show cried multiple times throughout this, this very silly comedy as a part of that. And then kind of conversely, uh, Schmigadun is one of one of my favorites. I like musicals. That is a thing that I don't know the very many people know about me. I very much like musicals and Schmigadun only got two seasons as a run there. It was Keegan Michael key and Cessli strong were the two leads with it. But like there's all kinds of people that you're going to recognize in it. But it is musicals. The first season is kind of like a more like old school musical like Oklahoma or something like that.

You kind of pulling from that ilk, but they get stuck in a musical as a part of it. That's the whole premise that gets sucked into this musical and they're trying to get themselves out of it. And it's Oklahoma season two is Chicago like that that kind of kind of more greedy feel as a part of that really, really good music is good. The comedy is good as well. And then if you like game shows, I can't recommend Taskmaster enough. Taskmaster is on YouTube. It is incredible. It is a British show. They've got several different seasons. I'm recommend in the British, the British series and as a part of that. Jason Manzucas, if any of you that are football fans, watch the league, he was raffee from the league, the crazy guy. He was in a couple of series ago and he's incredible in it. I go watch that season go enjoy it. The premise is great. It's just a whole bunch of mini games every single episode. That's all it is. It's really all it is. And then they total it up at the end and they hand out a trophy. It is kind of for shits and grins.

It is kind of there's a lot of objectivity to it. You know, sorry subjectivity to it. Not objectivity. A lot of subjectivity to it. But it's fun. They do it in such a comedic way and a comedic presence. I really, really enjoy it. I'd recommend those three. And again, Taskmaster is free on YouTube. Like you don't have to, if you're watching this right now, you can go be watching that after after. What was the name of the show that was on late at night that was basically just the bloopers of like Ninja Warrior. Oh my goodness. I remember what you're talking about, but I can't. I feel like the name of it. I used to watch it all the time. I don't know if it's Taskmaster. Ask. Not you were talking about like the comedy of these like challenges. And I mean, dude, just watching people crash and land in the mud and it's all. Yeah, or the dog. It was really fun to watch late at night. Yeah, it's more highbrow than that. Like there's every single mini game that they present.

There is like a way to subvert it and win if you're clever enough to find like playing in the margins and things like that. So you get a lot of these comedians that come in here and they're just like, okay, so I'm going to start breaking stuff to find where this clue is or try and find some of this. And it turns out that that's not the game at all. So they end up wasting more time. You know, it's been 30 minutes in the shows, you know, only like 30 minutes long, but you know, they're spending 30 minutes in this mini game. They don't show the whole thing. Just breaking stuff trying to get through this. Sometimes they come across something and somebody figures out the mini game in 15 seconds. And so it's kind of like it's it's a little bit of how would I approach this sort of scenario that you get with that. But yeah, it's really good. Casey Jeff says, I've been going reverse year lately on thicker stakes, which camp are you in? Are you forward or reverse year? I think that the reverse year is a little bit harder to pull off at least in my experience.

And I'm kind of a keep it simple stupid kind of guy. I was taught to, you know, like know how to use indirect heat. But every single time it was a stake, it's like that shit's going right there on the hot spot. And then we're moving it off and letting it chill. And I mean, you know, that's kind of how it feels like. And in some ways, even with barbecue, like you're going to let it wrap and rest, you know, it's a different dynamic because you were cooking at a lower temperature the whole time. But like I I start hot. And then, you know, and it's like I do that with practically everything, right. I mean, if I'm if I'm doing like a roast, I'm still going to get like a real nice hard crust on the outside. And then it's going to go in the pot. And it's going to get low and slow. Yeah. So I blame him. I am forward sear for almost everything as well with the exception of, I don't know that this it still kind of counts as a sear. But when I make both song, like I, you know, you got to you got to put the brown sugar on the outside and I'd broil it at the end after it's already cooked. But everything else, I am, I am also always a forward sear person. And I've had great, great, great.

I've had a great, uh, reverse sear, you know, cuts of meat, but that is, you know, I personally always seem to overdo it. And you know, then I cut into it. And I'm like, oh, no, like that could have been I feel like I'm like I ruined the cook like it's it's hard to hard to pull off. Yeah. I mean, honestly, if you can do it, uh, it might be the superior way if you're skilled enough to pull it off consistently. I just feel like there's a lot less margin for error there, I guess. Yeah. Okay. Last question we've got here this from Lee 87 he posted some pictures in the chat here said, have either of you gotten donuts from the tops of Pike speak any post of pictures of him with the donuts at the top of high speak, which I'm from Colorado. I did not know that was a thing. Now I'm going to go do that. But here's the real question here. What other weird food tradition. You put in parentheses here must do's have you done. Hmm. So like this donut shop on the top of a mountain. I'm trying to find my equivalent of sort of like a kitschy thing. Yeah.

Something like that somebody put this in the chat. Actually, I'm going to kind of jump in here. Like Seemoo's kind of jumped in here and said, Cafe Dumas being the a's at the river bank. Like that. That's real high up my list that's exceptional done wonderful. Yeah. It's great experience. Yeah. I have eaten Kentucky for I chicken in Kentucky. It's the same. That's kind of the point. Right. Like it's a chain. So I should be able to eat it in Missouri and it tastes just like it does a Kentucky. It felt a little different. Um, honestly, I think that like the best version of this for me doesn't exist anymore. And it was having to travel east of the Mississippi in order to get yinling. Yes. That it was like a ride of passage. Um, and I am not kidding. Uh, if somehow some way my old friend Erica is listening to this.

She lived in Nashville and was going to school at Belmont. She had, she had used to work for me at Minskis. And, and this girl I'm telling you, I would text her like when is around holiday time and I'm like, please bring me home some yinling. And that girl would come and like deliver me four cases of yinling bottles up up to Minskis. Hey, Merry Christmas. Right. Like, and I mean, but, but before I had a connection. I mean, we would drive truly. I know. It was my, it was my favorite cheat beer by a mile. And it was so great to just be able to, you know, kind of almost visit different places, but like my souvenir home every single time was yinling. I did not open this up to beers and I should have thought about beers because if we're open in that can of worms, new glarest spotted cow. That is the one Wisconsin. That was the only place that you could buy it was in Wisconsin for the longest time.

And back when I lived in the Kansas City area and I worked in Kansas City, my job sent me to Wisconsin and to the U.P. very frequently. And I got very good at smuggling spotted cow back with me on the plane to, to make sure because I didn't check a bag. Then my workplace was like, no, you're gone for a day. What are you trying to do checking a bag? I'm like, okay, I gotta get real creative here. And yeah, I was, I was able to do that, but that was one of them. But from a food perspective, um, going to a cadia, picking blueberries, it is the only national park in the United States that you can actually go and take something out of legally. Yeah, you could take sticks and stuff like that, but like you can go fill a five gallon bucket up during blueberry season of blueberries. They planted all the Roosevelt family planted all of these.

They are very ancient blueberry bushes that had been protected, but you can go, you can pick those. A lot of the restaurants also do that as well, going to Baja and getting to eat a fresh lobster pulled out of the ocean with a blueberry compost. It was, yeah, that was exceptional. That was a tier one meal for me. And it was very simple. The one much to it. It was just there. And it was what they had at their disposal. So I think there's probably a lot of people that want to talk about like the throat rolls at Lambert's. Never been. I've always heard about him. I do. Yeah. Another thing that popped in my head. I don't know if you've ever been in New York, but having a mix sorely is that mix sorely is was a hell of an experience in New York City. One of the oldest bars that we have in America. And you used to be able to get mix sorely is here in Kansas City. I don't know if any, but if it's still being produced or available, it's delicious.

Gotcha. Gotcha. What is the mix sorely is I'm looking it up right now. I've been to New York. I went to Coney Island and I had I don't know on on Coney Island. Yeah, I mean that was that was up there too. Yeah. I don't know if we've misinterpreted this question, but now my brain is just firing a mile in it. And I'm like, I want I need to go back to Chicago because I just want to eat Italian beef every single day. You know, there's there's a lot of experiential foods like that that I think are super fun. I do think that some of the like the different experiences that you can get when you go to a big city like that. I would always very highly recommend going to like the ethnic neighborhoods. Going to a place like Chinatown when it is a robust place or going to a place like Koreatown when I visited Durk and Los Angeles and we go to Koreatown. It's like for block after block after block. You have so many different Korean barbecue restaurants and people outside doing street food.

And you just get immersed in stuff like that. And it feels like it like deepens the experience of the food. The food is better because of the atmosphere and everything that you To have with that. That's that's something I've always written. I mean, that's that's kind of what it is. And you know, Lee A7 talk about I'm here on top of Pike's Peak. Get donuts. You know, that's a cool thing. It improves the environment improves what it is. You know, it's probably the best donut. It's probably my it. There might not be a veteran on anywhere. If they make bad don'ts. No, honestly, you get some bad donuts and you take a bite of it. You're like, hmm, that's a mid donut. And then you look up and you're like, actually, it's not bad donut. You know, like you just kind of look at her and you're like, you know what? Not bad donut. Yeah. I'm grateful to have a donut up your aim top of this mountain right now. Yeah, exactly. All right, that's going to do it. For 21 questions, we really appreciate everybody listening year and
