1:01really important for me and then when I discovered the Sophie it was completely blown up moment because I and my actually my last Facebook post was that our IP post to Sophie because I've been then I completely stopped writing and doing everything because that was moment when I discovered that that world is never going to see what her real potential was because it was the exact moment when I was waiting that here now she's ready to conquer the world the pop music everything and everywhere should be under no the under the umbrella of what she was creating with with her music and it was completely you know this is the night for me and for lots of people and no it doesn't

2:03matter you are part of queer community or not it was really set set day for and also I know that you also had let's say privileged to play the event to attribute you into something can you can you so tell me more about your connection with maybe Sophie and Lucas music and this new wave of queer artists who are doing really good at in their own terms I mean in experimental music but also I I love to see them penetrating the pop music and mainstream culture with music because I was really happy to see Sophie producing for Madonna and windstables and Kendrick because that's what this music needs that's what the mainstream music needs to have such characteristics to have someone with different past someone with different approach then different sensitivity

3:05different feelings and because this mainstream music otherwise is just like you know it's plastic and it just doesn't have this depth so let me more let me know more about your connection with those artists as well I mean Sophie I remember first discovering when I was in college not the music college I went to a different one before and I remember being sat in the library and someone showed me a bit on YouTube and I was like completely blown away because it was again it's like nothing I'd ever heard before yeah do you have any more releases from Sophie I mean bit is probably up really like it changed everything it was crazy and then I love not okay from oil of every pulse on insides yeah but yeah it really was it changed everything I think the PC

5:12been making music for such big names yeah you say Madonna like Charlie Xe X and Björk Honeywurst and of course yeah yeah and it's it's like you say it it takes a lot of different kind of backgrounds and perspectives to make this really rich and like fertile experience with music I think and it's always like like the best pop musicians who have the best underground so it's making their music yeah yeah absolutely it's so really fun watching this kind of this interesting trajectory where often you'd have like in the 80s or something you'd have like pop musicians who now are making experimental music like Rihichi Sakamoto or like Brian Eno or someone like that where they started off in the pop world and then they've they've moved into like ambient experimental kind of stuff but now there seems to be the opposite trajectory where you have people starting off in experimental music like Akka or like

6:16one of Tricks Point Never and now they're now they're like all over pop music it's really fun actually Daniel Lopotin was the musical producer of weekends a house time show or something like it's it's huge something because I remember when I first when I first see Sophie performing it was 2015 at Sonar first of all and at this point I still did not know the was soft in the you know on the stage because there was QT and some PC music guys yeah yeah five people running doing this music and I was like what's going on in the second time it was 2000 and 21 and she was different couple in three different and you can tell that she was going to you know to never stop and the show was different still transgressive still still provocative and everything but but

7:17the scale was different and the influence was different and the room was different because I had the same feeling about the if-to-more when I first listened to she's ambient live it was 300 people around the club and the second time when I listened to him it was a full band and it's always in to see artists evolving and creating these layers and the layers of their music and when ended in my favorite moment is when some pop stars or the big labels are starting noticing them and trying to put them you know into their agenda and they are still penetrating them and hearting in different way and it's it's always funny to see as well also I really wanted to share more about your debut album as well because you have previously expressed an interest in being in you know your mixes and initial releases with these

8:23narrative elements I mean could you elaborate on how the concept influences your approach to creating albums and mixes as well because I listened fact mix fear to this interview as well and how do you weave this thought telling into your music and what themes or narrative can listen expect to encounter in your debut album because it was years ago but still and first stepping to this world what can we do there I mean I it's an interesting one I think my approach to storytelling through music is is sort of a bit of a reverse there's not a narrative before it I it's very instinctive and I kind of I follow the thread that the music is leading into into it you can say yeah yeah yeah yeah I'm sort of I don't know I'm I'm I'm plucking at things and seeing what sticks and then a storyline reveals itself

10:27there was an illusion with Jason and Argonneau sprite is kind of yeah it was so the I mean the name the Hoganife is it was from there's a track by Tom Wates called Cemetery Polka and one of the lines is independent as a hog on ice on ice and this hog on ice is a kid Hoganife yeah and I think also because having seen Jason and the Argonauts like the the old 80s movie when I was a kid I am not really remembering it that well I always kind of linked the word Argonauts to the the Hydra yeah like that kind of creature with all the next and so Argonaut Hoganife or these so it just sounded like a big monster and I was like that's kind of a good representation of the sound of this album I want to kind of like burst out of the ground with like clay and metal and leather and all of these pipes and necks and this big sort of like loud musical

11:29beast and it really resonates your album suddenly because there's moments where you can easily notice the this metal influence but there's some something then we quite and this I mean this something coming from classically trained guy as well this you know sometimes the right silences the moment of relaxation and then boom again and then and yeah the twist and turns are really important in this storytelling ended one I have to mention this fun fact because the the myth of Jason and Argonauts ends up in a place where they are seeking to find this golden fleece and this historical place is let's say maybe 40 kilometers away from where I was born yeah it's it's black seed it's it's the same place it's that's amazing have you

12:30been you look for the police yeah yeah yeah so it's and culturally you know sometimes you see this myth from different perspectives and for us and for the people it's something like someone came to their our land and you know take something away from us and oh something yeah and none therefore the rest of the world it's the very different story they are simple they have sympathy with this Jason and the people around him going but for us it's really different because he kind of stole something really important from us and also yeah there's lots of different different interpretations so when I heard about this Jason and seeing a I was like okay I have to mention that this place is right next to our this place and yeah so it's so crazy yeah because I love that even men have like kind of like politics involved yeah yeah it's it was

13:36really really influential myth because you can really see your best place in ancient mythology and so on and so on also I have heard a really interesting fact that you have mentioned previously that you don't enjoy rehearsals and never rehearse your set before you go to the public so when performing in front of you know diverse audiences in various settings as also also we can find this link with internal festival do you tend to adapt your performance to align more closely with this audience's background and preferences or is your primary you know objective to invite them into your artistic world regardless of the initial expectation and so on and so on I mean the one of the reasons that I haven't rehearsed this show is it's because all of the spaces are so different every time like it's a there's there's a completely different crowd

14:37the even the shape of the room is completely different like the time that I'm playing like every element about it is different every single time so if I get stuck in rehearsing it a particular way then I'm I'm gonna run into problems and not be able to do certain things so I try and leave it as open as possible the like the the backing music and the the order of the tracks is usually the same unless I feel like making some changes beforehand I mean it was for the tours the individual shows they have coming up actually are all different but the yeah the the movements and the live instrument moments are all all dependent on like yeah the vibrational space of the room and the the number the number of people and kind of the energy from the crowd babe and all of these different elements will will affect it and also like how my day is pin yeah exactly I think it's there's definitely a world that I'm

18:54tether I was just like thrown out into the air and just sort of like find and trying to find some ground somewhere and yeah Bethany is is a really incredible artist and wonderfully positive and things which sort of created this this new ground for me for those three days and yeah we worked on some really exciting stuff and also doing some bits with other artists but I can't name any at the moment because it's there releases but there's a few yeah it's cute that's cool again
