It is what Tuesday March 31st, the last day of March. Yeah, I am Drew Franklin filling in for Matt Jones who is off this week after watching a little bit of the NCAA tournament last weekend. He's off to who knows where as he takes a little time off. But I have Ryan Lemon with me here in the studio. Ryan, good to see you. Good to see you. Good morning. I texted with Matt a little last night and he said those two games he saw are the best supporting events he's ever been to. I was very excited about this.

Yeah, very excited. Did you text him on the AVision Glass text machine? I forgot it again today. That's okay. That's okay. He's my cell phone. He just shot out AVision Glass that you have. AVision Glass. I have their text machine but it's in a drawer in my house. Yeah, okay. One day we'll get that out. You can call us on the Clarks Pump Shop phone line though. 859-280-2287-2287 spells cats. In case you forgot, 859-280 cats. And this show sponsor sponsored by TJ Smith. Ryan, what will TJ make them do? He'll make them pay by golly. We love some TJ Smith. We also love some Nick Roush who is here in studio with us today. Nick Roush is going to bring a little football knowledge to us. We've been locked in on March Madness but Spring football has been going on. He's been dialed in. He's growling. He's ready to go. Nick, thank you for making the trip from Louisville to Mellon. I'm fired up. There's football happening. It's been happening. We're on week three of Spring practice and there's a lot of grunt and going over there. We saw a video last night of the offensive line coach. He dropped two lines that just I was like, this guy. He's my guy. He said, the standard is the standard

which everybody knows. The standard is the standard. But if we are, if we have a program where the standard is the standard, then the standard has never been more of the standard. Heck yeah. Big fan of a new coach. I drop by his house every morning. Got nice UK flag out there. I won't say anymore but I excited to have him in Lexington. He's all the new guests. He's a young guy but an old soul. He comes from a coaching family and he had guys doing updowns and at one point in the video, he said, we're going to do updowns until somebody steps on and says, this is not how it's supposed to be done. I was like, that? Yes, football. We're back. So it's fun. It's new. There's a lot of newness going on over there and Will stands program but some things are still the same. There's still pads getting popped. There's still lots of grunts and there's a lot of physicality over there. So I'm fired up to hang out, talk a little football with y'all today. Heck yeah. See, this is my first time I get to see Shannon as I just make my rounds shouting out everyone on the show here. This is fun. I don't usually get to look at you but we're by Zoom or whatever this is. But this is a nice addition. We're on Microsoft Teams. Is that George straight on your shirt? That is George straight shirt. Yeah, I got dressed up

today. Office is full of people that look important and I'm dressed like a teenager but we're going to have a fun show. There are a lot of people out there. Yeah, what's going on there? I thought I've never seen so many people in this building before. I mean either. Are you in trouble? Like every chair was full. What's going on? What did you do? I couldn't look more ridiculous in this outfit when I walked in. I mean, I look like I got dressed in the dark, should have brought your cowboy hat today. It's in the car. We got a lot of news to get to some basketball as we said a lot of football but first this wasn't part of the plan but a little public service announcement from Ryan Lemon. We were just talking as he came in. These dang text messages going around about your your parking tickets and your tolls. They're out of control Ryan and I'm worried. You know someone who might have been duped a little bit recently. I have friends who are wondering what's going on. We just want to remind everyone these texts that are going out. They're spam. You're not really in trouble. They won't text you though. Call you but you had another incident pop up. I'll go ahead and say I mean it was Josiah and he got a text message

saying that he failed to pay his speeding ticket had to be in court this morning. Well he did get a speeding ticket in like November and he went to driver's school so I just thought well they didn't credit his account for going to driving school. You'll have to go and get that all straightened out. He shows up this morning and they said are you here to pay a speeding ticket and he goes, yeah, he goes, it's the scam. We've had people come in all morning. So some of some little robot was spitting out these text messages to everybody all supposed to show up today and he there was like there were several people show up today to pay a speeding ticket that was just all this a scam. I got one just last week saying my deadline for my payment for outstanding traffic infractions was was March 22nd. You know I'm not paying that because it's a stupid text but since you you brought that up. I just want to remind everyone these are going around. I don't want some people getting these. You don't actually he got one. I got one yet says notice of traffic violation. So I texted it back. This is a notice of a scam violation. You'll be prosecuting. On there as it says reply why to reload this notice then tap the link above to

complete your payment so that I'll reply back to them reply why to reload your notice. This is your notice then tap the link to provide your payment and then I click the link and sent a link with Mr. Rogers given the double barrel. There you go. Well we just want to let people know now if you're actually on the run from the law. It's not our advice to run from the law but you're getting these text messages that are going around. Don't sweat it. I guess they're going to public records and see who got a speeding ticket three months ago that's doing in court. Boom. Now they're just getting random numbers. I haven't gotten a speed to get like well knock on everything in like 15 years. I'm I'm a perfect citizen and I'm getting it. So I'm sure they've just Facebook price all of our phone numbers. They're just hitting salt. Yeah. But that's for another time. There you go. Let's get to the news. We're going to lead off a little basketball. There was a big moment yesterday. Big big higher. Yes. On the mark post scoop from the person who is on the show yesterday. That's right. Jack Pilgrim. Why don't you break it down our show yesterday. He wanted to wait till it later in the afternoon. Well you know you got a you know Ryan you're you're a reported heart. You got to confirm with your source and another source. Then he had to write up the story.

Then we got to make the graphic. I think it's got to send out the newsletter. Jacob's got to put it on Facebook and Jack's got to put it on Instagram. So there's a lot happening. But it happened yesterday first reported by Jack in the KSR team. Mo Williams. Cavs legend NBA champ NBA All-Star former coach of Jackson State will fill one of Mark Pope's coaching vacancies where Jason Hart and coach Brooks left earlier this week. Obviously his son Mason is the first commitment in the only player that we know of on next year's team after he committed last week. And I I said on Friday I didn't have the scoop like Jack. It was just drew wishful thinking into the universe. I was like I hope they're considering old dad because that would be a good package deal. And then here we are. Find out yesterday. Mo Williams is the new assistant coach. There was a lot of debate on the internet yesterday. Some people didn't like it. I felt like I was working PR for Mo Williams. I'm actually going to send him an invoice for all the tweeting and writing and KS board and I was doing. I'll get into why I like the higher first because I wrote a lot of

a second because I wrote a lot about it. But Ryan just your initial thoughts with Mo Williams. I mean joining the staff. The guy obviously has the pedigree played in the NBA, won a championship with LeBron. I mean he knows basketball. But I did see a lot of that like why are we taking Jackson state people and coaches that you're not trying to. I don't understand that because if you follow the carousel on either level, you will know that there are one of two ways to climb the coaching ladder. You can be a main assistant from one of these power conference coaches like Jordan Gainey at Tennessee who got the job at NC State or you can go to a smaller school and then join a staff as an assistant there, right? Like you can climb this slow ladder. Like John Summeral, he could have stayed at Kentucky for a while and then been like a defense coordinator somewhere and then hope to get hired. He was like no, no, I'm going to go to Troy. I'm going to work my way up. Mo Williams, he tried doing the, he went to an HBCU. He went to the Swack. He was there for a couple of years. He's not leveling up. This is a way to get back in the mix for some bigger jobs and also

be around with his son. So this is a guy. I mean, he did, he knows ball. He knows a little bit of ball. He knows people in this world too. That name comes with a little bit of cache. And I like the ability set on the pre show. He's also kind of cool. And I don't think if you looked at the Kentucky coaching staff, no offense to Mark Fox. Right? Like, when you look at the guy, you're like, oh man, that guy's cool. Well, you called out with swag there, bud. Yeah. Yeah. Easy. You're like, I'm Mo Williams. You kind of got to say, whoa, instead of giddy up, right? He's, he might have too much swag. I wrote that I didn't feel bad because I think it's fact. He is cooler than everyone on staff combined. And that's nothing against them. We knew when, when Pope took over for Cal, we traded some of the cool for some brains. Yeah. We like the brains. We'll get those analytics working eventually. But now we have a little bit of cool back. Like he can, he can walk into a peach jam and properly execute a dip. Like I, I feel like we're, we're back on that level. Is there nothing more worrisome than when you go to dip up somebody who is clearly

cooler than you? And you're just like, don't, please don't mess this. Yeah. Because if you, if you don't hit it right, like sometimes if you hit it right and you get that like that that real pop, it's, you walk away and you're like, all right. I got, I did good there. But then if you mess it up or you go like half hand shake, half dapp, it's, it can just, it can really wreck it, wreck a day. I think I said this on cover zero back when we were doing those at Super Bowl. But of all the fun we had at the Super Bowl, nothing made me happier than there's a video of me in Stevie Johnson and we dapp and people were applying drew that was the cleanest dapp I've ever seen. And I've never felt cooler because normally I'm, I'm pretty awkward, pretty awkward. But we got some, we got some swag back on the, on the coachings definitely. Correct. I think it's very important to not gloss over his connections. He had, I know he's coached the Jackson State and I understand you all have seen the Jackson State record. Thank you for sending it over millions of times. I just want to let y'all know we didn't hire him to be the head coach. And if you want to play the game of let's look at assistant coaches coaching record, don't look up some of your favorites. Not trying to throw strays here Orlando and Tiga,

not the best coaching. John Robick, not the best coaching record. Matthew Hello, he that that's been pretty bad. Mark Fox is on the staff. Yeah, we're not hiring Mo Williams to be a head coach. So ignore the Jackson State record and they played one home game in November and December at that school. That's just a different animal. They barely have NIL money. They're always punching up. So I don't care about his record. I care about his connections. He had the Mo Williams basketball academy for several years. A couple of alums, Julius Randall. Ever heard of him? Pretty good. Pretty good. Washington. Ever heard of him? Another one of the pretty good. He has all these Mississippi connections. Josh Hubbard, whatever you think of him. He shared that yesterday. I don't know what that means, but it could mean something. It could mean nothing. It could. But just to you can fill my excitement. I says, as I said, I'm working PR for him, but I love the hire. I don't know that it's going to save Kentucky basketball. It's not a fix all by any means, but you had to hire somebody and I like the guy picked. I think the issue generally speaking with assistant coach hires, if you know something about them, it's probably bad, right? Because people,

these coaches move all over the place. I take, for example, Kentucky special teams coach Parker Fleming. You have never heard Parker Fleming's name before in your life until he got hired by Kentucky. But then if you looked up an Ohio State message board from three years ago, you would see Ohio State fans were mad about their special teams, right? Like they're, same thing will Wolfard. You didn't know Eric Wolfard when he first got hired at Kentucky, but when he came back, you were pretty ticked off the day. Eric Wolfard, right? That's the nature of assistant coaches. We don't, we don't know a ton about these guys. But if you do, then you can poke holes. Sure, you can poke holes at Mo Williams head coaching. He's not coaching in the swag anymore. He's cut, he's here to help get players to help out with point guards to help out with guards. And I'm not exactly an MBA expert. I'm know Zach Gagan over here drew. But when I watched Mo Williams play basketball in the National Basketball Association, he was pretty good. Yeah, he was. So he might know a thing or two about ball that some of these other coaches on Mark Pope's have don't know. I think we all agree. Point guard play is very important next year. I mean, we know how pivot of the

years coming up for Mark Pope. We know important point guard position is kind of like a guy who has 13 years MBA experience, kind of playing bigger than he was a creative playmaker. If nothing else, just the development of that position and some in game coaching, just getting these guys ready. See, that's why I think it was a good hire by Pope, just that alone, just to be kind of helped the point guard mentor. You know, maybe you guys want to come and learn from him. Guys want to make you know, maybe make that next step to make him eligible for the MBA. Play for a guy like that for a year. Man, I think that'll help attract maybe some higher level point guard prospects. A lot of folks online were saying, well, why don't you go get Raja on Rondo? Listen, I love me some Raja on Rondo. Louisville guy went to UK, won a championship, played a lot of years in the league. Have you seen his other stuff lately? Not exactly a guy you can hire. Now, if you want to have him shopped to the games and stuff, cool. You want to recruit his son? Cool. But I don't think you can hire that guy right now to join the program.

Mo Williams, he doesn't have those other things going on. He's just been in the swag for a while. The swag is a hard place to coach to succeed. Can you name a coach in the swag that has succeeded? I can think of one. Prom. Dion Sanders. He's like the only one. Everybody else there. Sean Woods got stuck there forever. And Mississippi Valley say like, it is a very hard place to win. It's very underfunded. And you know, now he's got big brand. He's got the Nike connections. The Nike connections probably don't matter as much as they used to, but they still matter. And you know, maybe go get some Nike guys when you're building a roster. It's a clean slate. All we know is Mason Williams is is out there is. You were connected to some dots. True. There's there's another Jackson state guy that's out there. There is. There's a there point guard at the portal. More importantly, Mo and Jamal Crawford are close. That's Tyrone Stokes is assistant coach. Interesting. What if we got Tyrone Stokes and in the inner. I said something like I love the Mo Williams connection. What if what if something like that? It's certainly not

going to hurt bringing him on the staff right now. Nick said to those amazing Nike guy Tyrone one Stokes one thing. Nike guy. You reconnected also an SEC guy. I wrote this in my post. Some people might have forgotten people do forget that as a freshman under recruited starts every game in Alabama. You know what he does? He wins SEC freshman of the year and he beat number eight Kentucky in Roperina. Now, no, we're not hiring Mo Williams to play basketball. But he knows what it takes to win in the SEC as a guard and has that history too. So to put a bow on that, I'm not saying it might not even change the win loss record. Kentucky still has plenty of problems. I still have many concerns going in next year. But you had hire somebody with two open seats right now. And I write I like that it's Mo Williams and we'll see how it pans out. Might look over across the way to Roperina. There's LeBron James coming back to rub when you're watching the game with him and Mo. Get on back in here. We'll take him back. Mario would like, I wish Mario were here to freak out over Bronnie. That was Mario's first reaction is Bronnie's going to come. He's coming to a big leave there. That's our thoughts on Mo Williams and text messages about scams on

your on your speeding tickets. Be aware of the message. Tech message scam about your money for a speeding ticket. That should be the official PSA. We should have recorded that to play every break. We'll take a break here. Drew Franklin, Ryan Limon, Nick Rouse, Shannon the dude in the studio. I get to see today's Rubin is a little go to there kind of looking smooth there. On our new podcast the away end we'll share with you the magic of international football all leading up to the 2026 world cup. For us soccer football is a story we've shared for over 30 years since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team very debatable and I was their most loyal and sometimes only fan. I love this game. I love its history. It's hope. It's heartbreak and above all it's beauty. Together we'll find out why of all the unimportant things football soccer is the most important. Listen to the away end with Daniel Alargón and John Green on the iHeartRadio app Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back KSR Drew Franklin filling in for Mad Jones got Ryan Limon here in studio with me. You seem very giddy today Ryan by the way someone else wrote that on the KS board.

Well you're in a good mood today. It's all Shannon knows because of my ice coffee. I have to go to McDonald's get my large ice coffee every morning got stuck in the drive through today. I thought you're going to be a bit down trying to get here on time and that's what it is. It's all fabricating caffeine. Get your priorities in check. You got to get that ice coffee before you get to the radio show. Fabricated caffeine you do that every day. Yeah. I got to have my fabricated caffeine. I think it is real caffeine. Yeah we'll take any cars. Did any of you keep up with the Sprite McDonald what do they call it the McDonald's all American game Sprite Jamfest three point contest and dunk contest. I'm a power a Jamfest guy. I was just I was done. Sorry. Yeah well I tune in a little bit. Okay you know and we don't have Kentucky boys in the mix. We have very girls in the mix of boys and roots. We're keeping a close eye on

Tyron Stokes. He didn't do well last night three point contest. Is it announced tonight? No he delayed but everyone's watching his every move. Oh every single move. Every single move. I'm watching him right now on my phone but on the girls side plenty of cats. Yes. Kenny Brooks with three players that will be in tonight's McDonald's all American game his entire recruiting class. Madden Greenway. She's number nine overall and the number two point guard in the country. Savvy Swords number 10 overall and the number three combo guard in the country. That's two top 10 players. Number one overall name too. Yes. Just great branding potential at Historic Moira Coliseum. Have Savvy Swords tonight. You just bring you get a free sword a foam sword when you come in. She's a dual threat. Oh, Emily McDonald who won the three point shoot out last night. Nice. They did the where the girls play the boys in the end won that one too. Nice. So Emily McDonald won big. It was fun watching them. They'll be playing tonight and the big game on ESPN. I do not have the time. I know it's on ESPN. We'll call it seven but look that up if you plan to

watch it but it's weird with Cal. You know we just got used to tuning in and seeing his whole recruiting class. Let's change a little bit where where one side has nothing. Kenny Brooks stepped in and said I'll put my whole recruiting class in there. I can't act like I know anything about the female game. But I heard Kenny Brooks talk about this green way the point guard. She said she is a superstar. Her dad was an NBA player if I'm not mistaken. No NFL player. Chad Greenway for the Packers Vikings. Same right division. Wrong team. He might have done a lap around another team mostly a Viking though. Okay. Got you. Yeah. We'll be seeing a famous dad in the crowd. A lot but that's exciting stuff. Watch them tonight. I'm I'm excited in the world of women's sports of the University of Kentucky. Did you hear where the Kentucky volleyball team is playing this year? We we counted it a wani na na breaking news yesterday but we didn't really get into it. So let's just go ahead and tap into that now. The Rigglyfield game. It is the Sunday after Kentucky football's home opener. They can see Young Sunset. That's correct. So Labor Day weekend. The lights are on at Rigglyfield and I were a volleyball house at the Rouse House. My wife. My wife. She was

all conference player at the the school down I 64. She was she was a cardinal bird but yeah she we just we we turn on the volleyball quite a bit at our house. Especially like Friday night. Get a little big 10 volleyball. Maybe we'll go catch her in action. We were locked in on that run in the national championship last year. And what's awesome is that Kentucky plays in all these big events. Yes. Like the AVCA first serve is becoming the new like Chick-fil-A kickoff classic or the new champions classic. They played Nebraska last year and they were up to nothing before falling the reverse sweep at Bridgestone Arena but now they're getting an even bigger stage and to play it at Riggly. I mean it was one thing when Nebraska they did the outdoor game a few years ago and there's 90,000 people that showed up but it's like Nebraska fans are crazy. We we saw them travel to the sweet 16 in the lead day like they go all out. This is opening the door for the other fan bases to get an experience like this and it's going to be awesome. They're playing Penn State who won the championship two years ago. Kentucky beat them on banner night last year. Yes. So there

might be a little bit of revenge at play and the good news is is Kentucky is bringing most of their core back. They obviously lost even Hudson but Brooklyn delay. She had off season knee surgery. She played most of the year with like a blown out knee and was still all. She's dominated all SEC Molly Tezos back. So should have a good squad and you're going to get a huge stage that I mean just the just the crowd shots of all that like it's going to be it's going to be so cool. It's huge for the program very fired up for are you KSR football beat rider a viable beat rider showing how much ball you know over there. I dabble I also do the thing too where I will say something while watching it and I sound very confident in it and then my wife will just say you're an idiot. You're so wrong but you know what if that's a marriage Nick that happens to me whatever I'm talking about I get corrected because I'm usually trying to say something I don't I'm talking about you know since you do know ball though this wriggly filled aspect outdoor volleyball like just this I'm going to sound really dumb just when come into play I mean any weather factors is this going to be

uh it does the atmosphere affected at all maybe on some sets but I doubt it because they changed the rule in recent years and I think it's crap um there's no more doubles so like it used to even you set the ball had to be a knuckleball they got rid of that rule so any idiot like me can set now and I'm like well that takes away some of the like you're you're making it easier like it used to be hard to be a setter to be able to hit that knuckleball now they don't have the doubles anymore so I think they'll be fine and I think they'll they'll rip it they'll get it down and be a great night for you cave volleyball that's Nick Rouseville I ball talk look at that we're going to fly to this break and your phone calls on the Clarks pump a chop phone line this is KSR TJ Smith personal injury attorney called TJ he'll make them pay now more Kentucky sports radio presented by Stockton mortgage here's Matt Jones beautiful song Shannon very topical with this lovely t-shirt I pulled out of my closet back of the closet true Franklin here filling in for Matt Jones with Shannon in the Louisville studio who I get to look at through technology today and then Ryan Limon and Nick Rouse here with me we want to get to your calls on the Clarks pump a chop phone line

eight five nine two eight oh two two eight seven we'll talk about anything but with Nick in we want to get your football questions football I won't say it's been ignored but obviously Mark madness has been the big story right even with Kentucky not making as far as we we wanted to go but lots been happening over the football facilities so call in give a question to Nick I've got questions for Nick all right first up we'll go to Ryan Ryan you're out with KSR my my friend Jeff Coral that went to spring practice yes the first thing he noticed they're playing rock and roll music the whole practice you like that or not so stupes played music to maybe their music doesn't get breaks I think the overall sentiment you will get from people who go to practice is just like holy crap there is a ton of energy in here yeah it said it added a lot of energy and excitement and it starts with with the young coaching staff that helps right like for a lot of these coaches it's not their first crack at a big job but for me I'm in this I mean left which was at a organ but he

wasn't the main offensive on coach he was like a secondary one right Tony Washington to junior the defensive the edge coaches the past retrospect similar story with him but like these are young guys they're fired up they they have a lot of juice what what did coach stun say juice juice full is useful yes yes which to another saying that makes total sense don't even don't even think about it juiceful is useful but the biggest thing is the pace of practice and more Stewart he's the only holdover from the last coaching stuff the only Mark stupes guy and he was he said it's just boom boom boom boom boom guess how many breaks at Mark stupesystems would take during a practice run I'll say six they would take three guess how many will stun takes I'll say six zero zero breaks at all if you want some water wait while in your online and it's done said like there's yeah if it's hot outside during fall camp they're probably going to take some more spring ball right like

you get in you get your work done they will have some some times of practice where they slow things down they teach so you can kind of catch your breath a little but the pace of play it's cranked up and as they say you want it to be kind of chaotic you want it to be hard now so that way when you're at neo and stadium and there's a hundred thousand idiots and orange screaming at you you're used to a hostile environment so that that is the biggest change there's a lot of changes just the tempo the energy of practice that has been a significant upgrade from this last year to this year I've talked to a few people who are also kind of hold over from the stupes staff not coaches not anymore but you know secondary people right guys wearing the polis yeah and they're like you know we're here to help them because obviously you've been here while we can help with the changeover book we're kind of just trying to keep up with them right now with all the energy they're like they're on fire in this building and they're not coming out and saying it got a little stale or lazier and like that the end but they're like we see an obvious difference in the end of last season and what is happening right now and obviously Stein having his first job and then being

in their thirties that's part of it you know you should expect that but just the vibes over there are crazy right now which also I heard on the pre-sotion and you got a call someone talking about the power case did I catch that oh yeah yeah there's a picture I think from Saturday of Will's time with a power K pullover or a hoodie so I like it if he wants to bring that back I like that logo rather have that than the two birds making love logo well it's just me and you talking right yeah let's get let's get ready for some power K just gonna warn you all it's coming his dad wore the power K you know the last the last staff they got the black in the chrome helmets 10 years ago and they thought well we did an alternate we'll just run those back every year Will's time's coming from Oregon Will's time got here and it's like where am I throwback it's true I think we need to get ready for a lot of that coming our way the other part about a first time head coach who's young who's from the area is that he he's not doing everything

but he's got his fingerprints on everything right like he's not editing the videos that you see out there but it's what he wants you to see the message you're hearing from the coaching staff it might not always come from him but that's what he wants you to hear about these players you don't hear a lot of individual shout outs but he'll give a few here in there right like it's very everything is very intentional and you see the trickle down in recruiting they got a recruit yesterday from George Brian would of course wait a spell Brian B R Y I A N it's like his mom dad Brian yeah they didn't know which Brian to choose it's like we like both Brian so we're just going to combine it to one so they got a jerry book from Georgia they've gotten two players in the last three days a ton of talented quarterbacks that come in Andre Adams is the one that I'm monitoring he's announcing his decision I want to say April 11th that's around the corner he's probably the clubhouse of a year to be their quarterback committee and then you don't have to know much recruiting to know that all right you get the quarterback in and then we're down to start to

follow but they they've had a lot of name players from all over the country North Carolina Texas Louisiana four star kid from Baton Rouge was in on Saturday that energy that buzz that they're bringing with the new staff it's attracting recruits the campus now the job is to close the deal they weren't able to close on jihad brown who led the state and receiving last year at Cal that is uh that's that that that that that's going to be a saga to continue to fall because uh your friend a little pup uh through he this this is a very uh personal recruitment for him oh I I was there when he was recruiting Keontae Goodwin and he offered jihad brown as a seventh grader oh wow that early so think about how long ago we were following the Keontae Goodwin saga that's how long ago that he's been recruiting jihad brown so like obviously Vince and Volvo got a little bit of it like that but Kentucky's you know cooking the tires one of his old

coaches at Cal is Owen Stanstaff they all know each other very well like Doug Beaumont played with Stan at U of L um and so Kentucky they're they're gonna go show what they can do on the field they'll probably have him to a game and it's there's probably gonna be some more twists in turn than this UK U of L saga so just something to put a pin in for down the road won't be the life you heard jihad brown well before we take your calls here we should shout out the spring game coming up get some get some butts in those seats Saturday April 18th what is that how many Saturdays is that from it is two weeks from this Saturday 11 a.m. kickoff now you have to get your tickets before you go that's the one thing they're asking because they're doing construction to the stadium north side's getting a makeover yes came ahead people just wandering around the construction zone new seats they really took the seats out their power they're doing a lot of stuff over there so you just it's free but you just got to call dibs and before you go be kind of 11 a.m. spring game you got two p.m. baseball game could be a big one against Vanderbilt love the double header there yeah so also they warned like don't wait till day off because the tickets that

are free might be gone because of the capacity so like if you think you're going hop on there and claim them now just go ahead and do it it'll be here's the other part to they're going to play real football will stun is big one you get better you get better football but playing football it's a lot of concept run I know it's it's another one of these it's hard to believe but tackling you it you can't get good at playing tackle football without tackling so they're going to do that and they're going to throw it around the yard and have you seen some of these clips ride can you mention well that's my next question that's everybody wants to know about him we're going back to mind on the phone lines run question thank you for taking my call for a long time listener first time caller tell me about this quarterback I didn't know anything about him till he committed to Kentucky so I'm that's I think it all starts and ends with our quarterback when I answer the question I'm obligated to answer the question how every other person answers it whether you're talking to somebody from Notre Dame with you're talking to will stand whether you're talking to one of the receivers or any of them the first thing they say is he's great guy greatly like they talk about the intangibles first which I know for many of you out there listening you're like yeah but

can you throw the football like I know he but I I just think that's not nothing he's a good locker room guy if you have the whole locker room behind your one leader when this offense is going to go through him that's a good sign the other good sign is he's very accurate accuracy is important he puts the ball to where it needs to be DJ Miller described it in many more words he doesn't throw hospital passes if you're going across the middle he's going to protect you and the quote that Stan said the other day he said he was he was talking to Joe Sloan he was like it looks like he's been in our offense for a long time he's he's a cerebral player he he knows he's got it between the years he can move around well in the pocket if need be I've heard some really good stuff about the offense of one but so like hopefully he's not running for his life but so far Kenny Minchi has been as good if not better than advertised now was that look like in the fall I'm not willing to make a bunch of bold predictions that they're

going to average 35 points a game and they're going to win nine games or eight games or even seven or six I would like to watch the wide receivers that he's throwing two catch passes I would like to see the running backs how do they run behind this big blue wall that's been rebuilt but so far Kenny Minchi has been everything that you want him to be now here's here's the other thing there's some people out there true I know the thing himself rash we've heard you talk about how good these quarterbacks are every single year why you told me Zach Calzade was going to win the Heisman you told me that he he got his money right he did not get the Heisman why why should it be different with Kenny Minchi I was actually talking to somebody who played against in high school he coached Houston West Virginia a few other places and the way he put it he's like you can't be something you're not you can't like with that could tell you try to do with cutter boy last year that's not what what Mark stupestus it wasn't in his DNA if you're going to throw the ball

around the yard if you're going to rely on your quarterback put the game on his shoulders to win games that has to be who you are a hundred percent of the time that has to be in your DNA this is will sounds DNA it's putting handing the keys giving control to your quarterback to make big throws to trust him to be a playmaker in difficult situations that's in Kentucky's DNA now that's being implemented as we speak over the geographical ball training facility and it's exciting now I guess I don't know what that's going to exactly it's going to look like in the fall against his top 10 schedule I'm not going to go to church I'm not scared but I will say there there is a this should feel different when you're watching this offense operate love that let's get to a couple calls for quick for take this prediction all right let's get a Joe first hey Joe hello Joe hey gentlemen thank you uh Nick there's no secret about it we have got to keep this young man healthy

and strong when we play those cardinals that on Labor Day weekend we got to be able to he's got to be having open causes no broken bones now the big blue line that's everything but Nick you're smart enough to know do we have running box I can block somebody went on past protection do we have tight ends I can block and past protection can we have a wide receiver maybe pick up a corner of bliss if you have to and I know most time they don't do that but my point is Nick everybody blames those five offensive lineman if our quarterback gets down on the ground they can't get up you play law football I play law football Nick there's four to five offensive lineman when they say eight or nine guys that are quarterback somebody else has got a buck those other four guys that are coming so well you just tell these fans out there in in cat land and sometimes when the quarterback is psych it's not maybe those five interior lineman that gets all the blame it might be a running back and I mean I just get so upset when everybody blames the five law offensive lineman now

sometimes it is their fault the five times to say running back or somebody else and you tell mr. Drew there in the red light I misspoke the other day Drew we're not going to baptize you we're going to perform an extra system on you and I got just one that red light that can do it I mean if you look at that we'll get that dude out of you no problem thanks a lot good thanks Joe thanks Connie I'm excited to be exercised I don't even exercise so that sounds like a lot of fun coming up in the red light with a whatever Joe wants to do I'm in keg stands exercise the standard is the standard it's right useful is useful the good news is is that one of those offensive lineman that's going to be blocking for Kenny Minchi he was all SEC last year at Tennessee it's a little bit different when you're getting all conference USA guys versus all SEC guys to be your left tackle so that helps a lot Colton Price the center he's played a ton of football he is a grown man I mean like that guy he's got the co-t like I mean he he looks like a grown ass man but as far as other ones I mean he's right sometimes it's on the quarterback too you got to be hot you got to

get the ball out of your hands the good news at least from the running backs and past protection standpoint I don't know this be true but they've all played a lot of football so it shouldn't be deer in the headlights when they're asked to to pick up a blitz in a situation like that all right we'll get more to your calls after this break I want to talk a little TV to have wrote down a few TV things to get to I know people want to hear football but I got to talk about something happened last night something last night show I'm into a new old show I'm into so some TV talk about to we're gonna hear from you on the Clarks pump a jump phone line a five nine two two eight seven we'll be right back after this and Doug there's nowhere I wouldn't go to help someone customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual even if it means sitting front row at a comedy show hey everyone check out this guy and his bird what is this your first day oh no we help people customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual together we're married uh meet a human him to a bird yeah the bird looks out of your leg anyways only pay for what you need at Liberty Mutual dot com I'm John Green you may know me as the author of the Faulkner stars and now
