It seems like most fans are not a big fan of Jimmy dives in the least favor. We get a lot of his games. Yes. I've mixed emotions about you. I like Jimmy a lot as a person. I think he's a pretty good announcer. He clearly, he always knows the UK team well. But he's also somebody who is still in that mode of coaches who like the coaches always write no matter who the coach is. I take up for the coach, did it with Kyle, does it with Pope. And it includes a little bit of this sort of yelling at fans going, you know, he's very much like, why are you also upset? And we've had him consistently for so long. Like, you hear, drive the nail over and over and over. He didn't do the jet, or the jet. But yeah, I'm just saying, I like the jet.

4:03I think it's the exhaustion of hearing the same guy. I even, last year, it was worse. I didn't wrote a post about it mid year, but we had Carl ravaged in Jimmy dikes so many games last year and the record was terrible. So I think you just get a little bit of exhaustion here and the same voice over and over. I think he's good though. You know, he points out things that I think are good and for us that don't know the intricacies of the game. He brings out points out stuff that helped me understand why something happened. He does. He does. I like the tournament because I just feel like the announcers make it sound bigger. Kevin Harlan, I and Eagle. It just feels like a lot more. I don't know how exactly to say it. CBS just always feels like they do at the right time. We forget that those games are on, but like I turned on yesterday and like that Purdue will have steak. You can feel the energy, you know? And sometimes I don't know the ESPN does it the best. All right. So get the phones here and just say, let's talk about my man, John Cal Perry and Todd Golden

5:05giving each other the old onesy to see Florida just destroyed Arkansas. They're up by 30 and we're still 10 minutes ago. I still even know what they were fighting about. But at some point, they get an argument. And I'm still not 100% sure what happened. It looked like Todd Golden maybe said something to Cal, but I'm not sure what it would have been about. Do you? No, because it's on Cal and he, you see him snap. Kind of like a whatever it's you talking to me or don't yell at me or what, what you talking to me? Yeah, that who you there like he, you can see. He's like, what? And then Cal has probably done the best job of any coach in history at having multiple guys to holding back. Yeah. He's got a lot of hold me back guy that's fighting him off. And it's good to have hold me back guy. That way you never have to fight. And you look really tough. Yeah. It's like if Kenny Payne wasn't here, you'd be seeing these guns.

6:06You think Cal could actually fight if he had to? No, but Cal, here's Cal, that's Cal's like me. Can't fight, we'll talk. Yes. Talk and then go hide behind Key Payne. Yeah. Well, no, Kenny Payne's enough of a good loyal assistant. He, Cal doesn't even have to hide. Kenny knows Cal needs me in front so he can yell. Kenny Payne is, is Cal's parent. Yeah. Parents great. Pairing knows. Yep. Matt's going to talk trash. I'll get in front of it. Todd Golden had a corner guy too though. Here's a problem. Todd Golden's guy though is not. He doesn't understand the game as much. Get a pull him. Todd Golden. See again, Cal and I have something in common. We look like in, who knows? Cause we're bigger guys. Todd Golden's a wheel skinny fella. He's got little baby arms. And so he talks trash and no one's scared of him. I think 67 year old Cal thought he could beat Todd Golden up, don't you?

7:08You should not know his little nerdy. Yeah. I think he probably could. I think he probably could have done it. Yeah. So if you're going to talk trash like Todd Golden, you've got to have dudes who will hold you back. And nobody was rushing to holding back. Nobody. There was nobody rushing to holding back. So Todd is kind of left naked in the wind, yell it. And as Cal turns around and goes, you want a piece of me? If you'll notice in the video, Todd Golden pulls one of his assistants in front of me. He's like the classic kill move and rest. Oh, he did. He was like, he was like, Bobby, he didn't throw in a guy in front of him. He's like, hey, you're supposed to be holding back. Let me get behind you and yell. He literally grabs his shirt, shit, and it pulls him to him. Yeah. The camera's caught it. So here's the thing, Cal over the years and part because he's continued to hire these dudes even when they're not good. He gets loyalty.

8:08He's got these guys. They know what they're supposed to do. And Todd Golden's like, wait a minute, you're supposed to be up here. You're supposed to be up here. I'm going to hide behind you and yell. He's going to get his front. Yeah, Todd, Todd had nobody in his front. And when you're that little, you're going to need somebody in your front. But I really liked it, Drew. I enjoyed the whole mess up. So I saw it as Cal having a little pints up, like Todd Golden was me once upon a time. He's got all you think so. He's got the ring on his finger. He's won the regular season and the SEC tournament in the last couple of years. He's the hot name. So you think he's like looking back in time and this was me 30 years ago and it's like I have to show younger me that older me still has that fire. So you're that's interesting. I saw a big picture of thoughts because whatever Golden yelled, it shouldn't have triggered him that much. Yeah. So you're saying he was looking at his past. It's like that movie we were talking about. Crazy heart. Jeff Bridges saw Colin Farrell. I was him. And now he's more successful than I am. But I have to let him know I'm still him, but I'm still the king.

9:09Yes. And I have these guys that will hold me back. I'm the king and I'm losing by 40 and you know, see that's the same as built up a little bit. That's true. Todd Golden's a Bruce Pearl protege probably have the pearl influence over him probably encourages him to be a little more anti-cal. I liked and it seemed like our fan base sided with Cal. I think so. I think there's also maybe in my in my scenario, they're looking at Golden getting a little cocky, a little big first, bridges at age 40, even though he has success and maybe a little sympathy for the older states in the comments, yeah, in those ugly coats. Why? I don't know. Why does he wear those coach and he used to be Mr. Fashion. Oh, yeah. The red. How did he get to Arkansas and start wearing like even they don't both wearing those clothes. I mean, they're wearing like barber shop poles as they're like, why does he wear that style tablecloths? Yeah. I mean, Cal, you were so, I mean, there's got to be some suits with red in it that can

10:11look better than they get uglier every game. It is a hard color to pull off. Pull off. Just playing it. Does it mean require you to wear no, I guess if you're just trying to show it, I mean, he didn't always wear Kentucky blue when he was here. No, I guess. Usually wore black suits in a blue tie. Can he not wear black suits in a red tie? I don't know. Those jackets are awful. It's all that Tyson money has. It's just wear whatever he wants. Nothing makes my mom matter than those jacket. Really? Probably every time Shane and they're in a nationally televised game. Mom texts me and goes, Cal and his stupid jackets. What if it's a situation where like L and went out and like got all these jackets for him and now he feels obligated to wear them because she, you know, like when somebody buys you something, you feel like you're obligated to use them. Well, see, I'm not married. I usually when people buy me things and I don't wear them, I'm just like, I wear them when I don't see you. I think he only had, but you can't do that when you're married to somebody.

11:13Yeah. It seems only has three of them too. There's like a rotation of the small picnic table pizza hut wind, the one he had and the golden fight. I've got to think Ellen thinks they look bad too. No woman is looking at those jackets going, I think she would tell them though if she thought they looked bad. Yeah, but he's the kind of guy who'd be like, oh, you don't understand. Well, he would. That's what he would do. I mean, she's the one he should be trying to look good for if anybody. Yeah. I agree. I was very surprised to see you, but glad you supported your friends' kids. Didn't make you want to have kids? No. But I do think I can see why people like, like I was pulling for, for, for Max.

12:21Right. Like I can see how people like their kids playing sports. Yeah. And so yeah, I could see it, but it didn't make me just, you know, have my biological clock decided. Even when you saw the dude that looked like you out there, like that could be one of them. That could be my kid out there playing. I'm going to support him every, every Sunday. No, I didn't sort of think. Plot twist. It actually was. It was. Stop. Stop. You know, I did think about like, you know, because the parents are all very into it. They're very encouraging. One of the highlights of my life. I was calling a lot more walks. All you were. And let them go. I was like, he showed up. It's a, it's not a jumpstop riff. You'd be the parent like Ryan getting kicked out of the game. No, I wouldn't get it. I was kind of laughing and I was cheering on everyone. I was seeing like, these, some of these kids have good shoes. You know, check out their sneakers. Yeah. It's a good, the new tie. I'm like, nice. You know, let's go to Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff. I got a quick question and quit statement first.

13:22I think there are risks. Success, especially probably around the last 10 games. It's been because we shorten the rotation. I mean, what's your thoughts on that? Totally agree with you. Totally agree. And I think Pope did a masterful job with the rotation this week. You know, he's really wanted to play 10 to 13 minutes of game for those guys. And just they've been a disaster. But he found it to work well to where they kind of held serve while they were in. So I thought he did a great job with it this week. The guy that settled in the roles a lot better. It seems like also. Yeah. I agree. My question was recruiting wise goes, how would you delegate your money if it was Coach Matt Jones? Would you want to start a high school player? Great question. Poor player delegate the money. All right. So I appreciate the call. So what I thought about this during my drive back from Madisonville Friday. Because I was looking at all right, who are the not just who's good this year. But what programs seem to be set up the best?

14:23And it looks like for the most part Duke as much as it pains me is set up to be good like every year. And what they're doing essentially is they're basically keeping it within and maybe bringing in one or two transfers. They're getting a high school class with like six guys. One or two are studs. But what Shire's doing is he's bringing in a lot of 30th, 60th, 40th. And those guys are staying multiple years. And that's what he's doing. And I think that's working. But I don't think that's the only way you have to do it. I think you can bring in one portal star, one high. Like, okay. So you can brought in some high school stars, but then got a bunch of transfers too. That's worked with only one guy that stayed all four years that Alex Careban. Michigan's pretty much all transfers. So Drew, there's a lot of different ways to do it. I think Pope has to figure out what's the way to do it that works for him.

15:26But I can't, I haven't seen a consistent philosophy yet. You know, and so I don't know what his philosophy is. I don't either, but if for me that I'm probably top eight, maybe a ninth, or getting my money in the rest, I just don't want to have too many pieces like we do this year that have expectations of playing. I think Cal even said something similar to this recently. And then you gotta, even if you have to overpay, you have to get a stud, whether it's the number one player in high school, or one of the portal guys that you just know are sure things. If you get to the table and another school is overpaying a little bit and maybe you don't want to put that up, you still have to for just an alpha to be on your team. You can get one stud guard, one stud big, and one stud high school guy, and then filling it around them. Yeah. That's what, that, that, that to me is the perfect thing. And then every year getting two or three secondary high school guys that you bring up through your system. I think that's where Pope kind of messed up this year.

16:26He brought in Aberdeen, Diabate, and Camille Eves. All were six men coming in. He didn't, he didn't get to the start. He didn't get to do it. Now he probably would tell you he thought Jaylen Low would be that, but got hurt, et cetera. But yeah, they, you got to get a start. I think, now that we have no top high school recruits, when the portal rankings come out, we better get two of the top 10 and three of the top 25. Yeah, we're going to be good next year. Do you agree with that? I do agree with that. Do you think Patino's new philosophy where he's not even said he's going to be going to recruit high school kids? I think that works for a guy who's 70 plus years old and doesn't have very long. I don't think it's the best strategy for a long term bill. But Rick's probably thinking this is a one-year contract every year. Yeah. And he said that a year or two ago when we started some 25-year-olds and 26 years old. That's going down. She would be very what I could hear and I could only hear bits and pieces, but she would be very much like that player's not good. Go at her. But what was really fascinating was watching her with the refs. She is constantly on the refs. Not in a mean way, but in a like that, that and I watched her shenan I watched her get like three calls herself, meaning she would go moving pick right there. You see how she moved moving pick,

31:50moving pick, and then the next time down, watch out for the moving pick, moving pick, moving pick, and then the third time down foul call moving pick. So they're basically created the moving pick call. And I'm not saying it wasn't a foul, but she would she would almost set up calls to calls in advance. She would go watch her on the block, watch her on the block, watch her knee on the block, and then three time look foul on the block. I think it's like it might be like a psychological thing, but I would watch her essentially plant the seed and referees heads, not so much screaming you're wrong, but saying this is happening, this is happening, and it would like be in the and then they call it. And obviously works. It works. I'm not I'm not even criticizing her. It weren't, but it was fascinating to watch her do it. Like she just I watched her three times in the first half get calls that she got because of her kind of planting them in the reference. She's

Most coaches, one of the refs you could tell was a little she would call the ref by name. And you could tell the ref was like, okay, she's calling me out. Yeah, I just thought it was like a master psychology class watching her. I thought she's so successful watching her up close will go ahead will. Oh, the women, the women fought back real quick twice last night. Yeah, they were down 15 the first half came back and tied it. Then they got down 13 and came back and had a shot at the end of time. And he came on the pregame show to talk cats and tell people to watch it. So I watched it. First, I thought it was great. Did you all watch it? I was disappointed that it ended. I wanted it to keep going. It's been 25 minutes. It's long. Yes. Too long to be asleep. It was outstanding. It was so well done. I loved it.
