ジョン・フォスター・ダレス（1888年2月25日－1959年5月24日）は、アメリカ合衆国の政治家。日米安保条約の生みの親とされる。1952年から1959年までアイゼンハワー大統領の下で国務長官をつとめた。
歴史のなかで賛否両論の評価はあるが、ダレスは稀にみる仕事師であったことは間違いない。冒頭の言葉には、ダレスの仕事ぶりの真髄が垣間見える。難問の解決で喝采を浴びるのではなく、眼前にあらわれる問題に対応し解いて、1年後にまた同じ問題が登場しないように、踏み固めていくのが組織の進歩を意味するのだ。
