It's Mackling and McGarry on location today at St. Vittel's Center. This half hour is brought to you by the cooperators protect what matters most with insurance you can count on visit cooperators dot CA. So you might hear a little bit more racket behind us or behind me. I have my back to the chaos. What's going on here today? Why are we here? The first tea to the baby 500. It's a 680 C.J.O.B. heat right now. The four babies representing the great 680 are competing right now to move on into the final to the compete against country 99 power 97 with the center court. And I hate to correlate racing frogs and turtles with racing babies. But we really have a combination of the same here. Frog fallies along with the turtle Derby and boys of a except for babies. Okay. So there have been one baby jumped out way out to the front and now it's stopped and sat and is looking around. Oh, one of them is crying. Oh, no, no, no, no.

Anyway, we'll see how it goes. This could take a while. Okay. So we're going to try and take it. We have some guests here for an interview. We weren't sure how this was going to go. It's the first time we've ever done this baby 500 things. So we mentioned Sunday's forecast. I was a little curious about the Sunday forecast because this weekend, LaRette Golf Course is hosting a first of its kind event in our province. It's the Manitoba Golf Creator Invitational and somehow I'm in it. These fools. What have they done? Well, we're going to find out on Sunday. Aren't we Brett? We have three guests to discuss. The general manager of LaRette Golf Course, Gareth Thands. Well, it's here. Good morning, Gareth. Good morning, guys. And the marketing manager at LaRette, Cory, Jonathan, Jonathan, Jonathan, I had it. And then I lost it. Jonathan or Kojo Golf on social media. It's here as well. Good morning, Kojo. Morning. And someone who plays a ton of golf at LaRette and produces all sorts of great social media content at Claireway Golf Cheryl Inch is in studio.

And when is it? So this week here at St. Patel, St. Patel Center, Gareth, what's happening this weekend and how did it come to be? I also could to cut a long story short to be honest. Yeah, LaRette's obviously been trying to promote the Golf Course in the Golf Manitoba Golf space. And this winter we've hired Cory as a marketing manager. And then Claireway's TikTok videos really stood out over the winners. So we approached Claire and we've definitely collaborated with her over the last season. And then yeah, basically all three of us got together and it was like, we'd be good to make a cool event. So what can we do? And we obviously like to give back to golf. And there's a lot of people on social media creating great content as well as personalities. That's like golf. So we thought we might as well create an event for everyone and get back to the game and create some great content.

So that's the aim on Sunday. And hopefully everybody has a great day on the golf course. So Cheryl, there's like Greg mentioned, you play a lot. What drives your passion to not just enjoy the game, but to do it as much as you do? Just to be better, just to keep going out there and get a little bit of a longer drive, hit a better shot and just me versus me. And just play good golf. Maybe hit scratch golf one day. Just go out there. And LaRette's a great spot to be at. So good practice. Good to practice the same spot all year, too. Gareth, touch on to Corey, the fact that things are very competitive out there in the golf world. We're blessed with abundance in terms of great golf courses. LaRette always gets mentioned on our text line and from whisper, you've got to play LaRette. You've got to play LaRette. So how do you separate yourself? How do you encourage as many people as possible to get out to your course to enjoy this great game? I think we just kind of generally show off how great the course is, how beautiful it is. Our grounds team takes great care of it. And it just shows really well.

And the course is fun. And we've got a great membership. We've got, it's just good to get the word out. We have different events going on through the year. And this is just one more to just really boost that up for us. And LaRette's a growing community. It's a growing part of Manitoba. People moving there every day. Yeah, they're building all around us there. Gareth, how would you describe the overall health of golf in Manitoba right now? So obviously since COVID, like, there's been a massive influx of new golfers. Like golf courses in Manitoba have never been as busy. So I've been in the industry, our general manager, since 2015 in Canada. And yeah, literally each year, especially in LaRette. We've grown each year and we had a record year last year and trending to have an even better year this year. So it's from the golf business aside, it's in a boom at this moment in time. And there's lots of great golf courses out in Manitoba. And yeah, certainly, again, the industry is booming at this moment in time.

And that's again where the golf creator, Invitational Cums, there's lots of people getting into the game that we now want into make content about golf. Which is amazing to see that there's new people wanting, trying to bring new eyes to the game. Cheryl, we're on the air from 6 to 10 and there's some people that are under the impression that Brett and I worked for four hours a day. You put a video on TikTok or Instagram. It's a minute, it's a minute and 20 seconds worth of content. How much work goes into creating one of those short videos. Oh my god, it's 24-7. So we go out there and we film every, basically every single moment on the golf course. And so my partner, no, he's always behind the camera. He's holding in, he's capturing my good shots, my bad shots. And then in between haircuts, I'm editing my videos. I'm editing right before I'll come into work 20 minutes early and I'll post my video then. It's just when you have a free moment, the moments are gone now, I'm editing. And so a lot, I think it's a lot of work, but it doesn't feel like work because I'm creating something.

So I have an idea and I can get it out of my brain, I can watch it, and seeing other people relate to it. It's really nice too. So it's a lot of fun. Because you have a video recently, the rep. The rep has a signature hole at 7th hole, car 3. And you did a video where you said how long will it take, how many attempts will it take me to get a birdie? And I think it was a 34. And it was like 34. 34 recorded attempts. Yeah, it was probably more. Thinking about the work that went into that. It's 34 t-shots that you had to set up a camera and record. And then harvest all that video and then put it together for like Greg said what, 60 seconds of content? Yeah, you just, I mean I feel like just because I'm out there recording every shot, it's just in my phone. And I went and had to go get another phone and get more storage. But I, yeah, whole 7th is one of the hardest part 3s in Manitoba. I can't wait for you to see it. That's going to be a whole new one challenge too. Oh, yeah, 10,000 bucks are on the line I think for that one.

Brett has the Yips already. Yeah, we're just sitting at center core. And say, but tell, we're three days away. He's got the Yips already. Cory, how do you monetize this? How do you not only turn the social media content potentially into a revenue driver? But probably in your case more, how do you drive the revenue to the course and take advantage of events like what you're doing Sunday? And of course, the things that Cheryl does on social media. So, take for instance, this has been on Sunday. We're going to have 24 creators out there. And they're going to be creating content on the course to sharing all of that out there. We've also got videographers coming out recording everyone throughout the day, making, we're going to have a nice long form video. We're going to have all kinds of highlight videos to show off. It's just going to drive that many more people to see the course and hopefully come out to the course and go from there. Hopefully through big success. So, before we let you go here, the event itself, like are we just playing a normal round of golf or are we playing scramble?

Or are we going to be gimmick pulls, like what are we getting into? Or can you share that yet? We can share a little bit. So, we're starting off. There's going to be teams. I think that's made aware to everyone. We're going to do 2-2 scramble on the first line. And then on the back line, we are doing alternate shot. 2-2. Okay. Obviously, we've got two $10,000 whole of one challenges going on out there. Full seven and a whole nine. And we've got a lot of other fun stuff going on too. That you'll find out on the day of. So, you're the team captains. So, even though the three of you have been working together on bringing this to life and collaborating, now you're the captains, which means you're going your head to head. So, how big is the rivalry now? The gloves are off. Yeah. I'm scared to go to the chorus now. Really? No. When you pick a team. The teams are happening in the morning of 7am. So, once everyone's there, we're going to see how that's going to go. Throw the clubs in the middle.

It's blindfold and you just throw them on either side. We used to pick up hockey that day. I think that's how the people learn more about your golf course and book a T-Tone. Yeah, so, if you can go to our website, which is www.luretgolf.ca. There's a lot of information about the golf course there. We have a massive Instagram account. That's at luret golf. So, see some of Corey and Clarway's work on that site as well. And yeah, booking a T-Tone is the simplest going online and booking it. I'll give them the brochure if we call it. 204-878-2172. I'd just note that Clarway is your name's Cheryl. My name is Clar. Okay. So, then it's like fairway. Yeah. There's not many plays that could do off of Cheryl, but Clar. And some people think it's off of Calaway, but it could be both. No, I never even thought about that. I just immediately thought fairway. So, it's a great way to do it. Yeah. Thanks all three for coming.

And for braving this chaos that we have going on here today. It was added some ambience. So, nice to meet you all. And we'll see you all on Sunday. Thanks for having us. Yes, once again, Gareth Tanswell, the general manager of luret golf course. Corey Jonasson or Kojo Golf on social media. He's the marketing manager at luret. And one of the team captains, the other team captain, is Cheryl Inch, aka Clarway Golf on social media. Manitoba Golf creator invitational. First of its kind, this Sunday at luret. And I look forward to making an absolute mess of all of it. 848, traffic and weather in three minutes on the start.
