As we get ready for baseball here at Yankees Stadium in New York, ready to give you the starting line-ups and some other information about the night game. Here is Jerry Corbin, Jerry. So it's got a lot of interesting baseball coming up. A big bat day next Sunday and the action hot and heavy here at Yankees Stadium. But tonight for the Royals leading off and playing shortstop Jack Fernandez. Pat Kelly in center field. He'll bat second. Joe Boy at third base. He'll bat third. Mike Fiori hitting cleanup at first base. Playing left field and batting fifth. Luke Vanella. The second baseman is Jerry Adair. He'll bat in the number six spots. Doing the catching and hitting seven. Elie Rodriguez. Bob Oliver will play right field and

6:14get eight. And Wally Bunker, the right hander will pitch and he'll be batting ninth. For the Yankees, it'll be Horace Clark leading off at second base. Jerry Kenny will be the third baseman and Kenny will bat second. Bobby Mercer will hit third and play right field. And batting cleanup tonight. And this is a change as manager Rousehawk has switched. Pepitone and White. He's moved quite down a notch and Pepitone up one time. So Pepitone moves into the cleanup spot. He'll play first base and bat in the number four position. Roy White is brought back to fifth. He'll play left field. Jim Leiter will be in center field, batting sixth. Gene Michael will do and done very well at the plate. We'll hit seventh and play shortstop. Jake Gibbs will bat eighth. He'll be behind the plate. And Fritz Peterson, going for his ninth win of the year, will be pitching and batting in the number nine spot.

7:16Right now, the fans of Yankees stadium will be joining Jerry Veil in the singing of our national anthem. Right now, through the perilous fight, for the wrath of people, for no doubt in believing. 9:28So, wind up in the first pitch to him. Outside. Boy, one in this game is underway. Yankees trying to salvage the final game of this three game set. Peterson will eat winds and six losses, ticks and throws. Hernandez at the ground barbs a second heart clock. As it makes this sort of first in plenty of time, Hernandez is required and there's one away. The Yankees will not see out of Roy white and left, Jim Whiteland's center, and Bobby Mercer and White. Bobby, he comes up with the first hit of this ball game. It's his fourth in the series. And the Royals have a man-on with one-out and Joe Boy advancing on the plate. Boy has had a hit in each of the games in this series. He has super seven, batting 249, and Boy currently has a nine-game history joint. Boy, right hand-bottied. Sabotaur, balls and a hold against the base runner at first. Pat Kelly.

10:29Peterson off the set. Kicks and throws. Jerry ball is in on the ground of short. Michael up with it. Throws the clock for one back at first, not in time for the double play. Jean Michael had just a bit of trouble getting that ball out of his glove. And that loss of perhaps a second eliminated any chance of the D.B. Kelly has forced a second base. Michael de Clark. Boy reaches out on the field on the fourth play or the other's choice. And here is Mike Fiori, the first baseman. Fiori is batting 285. Lupinata is on deck. Fiori, left hand hitter, super seven in the series. The runner goes, boy, on his way to second. The throw there goes off to the center field. Boy, fix himself up. And he will go into third.

11:29A stolen base and a throwing arrow will be charged to shake in. Nineteen, stolen base for Joe Boy this year. Jean Michael took the throw from center fielder Jim Lyland stepped on the second, and a field play there to umpire next to Shana. It was not allowed. Joe Boy is now tied for second place. In the American leg, stolen base for eight. The pitch to Fiori is over the ball for a ball on a strike count. Boy has 19 stolen bases now. He's the captain of Oakland. Sonny Roberts, Seattle leads the leg and stolen bases with 29. One one pitch to Fiori hit on the ground. Jean Michael charges up with it, throw the first base, he's out. And the side is retired.

That one was not his time of the year. Well, Rodriguez is out. And so are the Kansas City Royals. No run for one yet. No errors. And nobody left. Right now, Joe Puppetone leaves off as we go to the bottom half of the second. Bunker to the wind up, and the pitch to Joe Pepe is high for a ball. Puppetone is hitting 551. 17 homers, 38 runs that it in.

20:45Wing and a most in the count even, one ball, one strike. Bunker's allowed one more. That's to Jerry Kenny and then take them off. One, one, five. The Royals tonight, overshipped on Puppetone, not as much as the White Stocks, if you saw any of those games with Chicago, but they do have Hernandez just a bit of the right side of second. Puppetone is a high applaud down to the right field corner. Oliver, near the foul line, is under it and makes the catch. Frank, I've got to say something now that Puppetone has come to the plate. He said, you know, getting off to a good start is kind of tough. I'm beginning to feel pressure now that I never felt before, because I know people expect me to do it. And I have noticed in the last few games

21:45that Joe's been trying to pull everything, and that can be a big danger. Freshly the way most clubs shut up that defense to shut him off. Here's Roy White, batting in the fifth spot. He's touched on the first pitch and foul into the face on the third base side. White batting 273. Jerry explained the move as far as Ralph Hawker's concern in moving Puppetone up to number four and White down to number five. One strike six to one. One on a mid strike two. With White batting in front of Puppetone, it's actually such his speed away from him once he got to first base. I did not like to have White try and feel second, because then with first base open Puppetone will not get the pitch. There's a foul that comes back, getting out of the mist of the catcher Rodriguez and the cow voles nothing in two.

22:51And the O2 pitch derives. Lines on one hop and it is taken by Jerry Adel, if he's left here and he throws him out. Adel lost his cap as he brought the glove up quickly. He felt Adel and actually off his left here and made the play its the first in time. Frank Jerry Adel is a kind of a ball player who doesn't have great range. He's not fast, but he has one great thing for an infielder, a marvelous pair of hands. An outside of fielder Jim Lightwell, batting 196 and the pitch is inside of the knees. Lightwell is over three in the series. They ader can usually handle everything that he gets to. Walter Kixon draws. He's down low this time, two balls and no strikes.

23:53No score here in the bottom half of the second inning. Do nothing pitch. Lightwell takes high at a time. Three balls and no strikes. Frank, as you know, Jerry Adel came up as a shirt stop that didn't have the range to play that position and he went the second base and had played third as well, but a second he really shone. All right, the three all pitched out of Lightwell. Inside ball four. Lightwell walks on four pitchers for second walk even up by bunkers. All right, here's Jack Hernandez who grounded out the clock on the first pitch of this ball game. Right hand battered. Peter's been delivered, and he fouled one back. It will be out of play on the screen, right down in front of it. Jerry Coleman was all set to make the play on that one. I missed Judge that, Frank. Not as bad as our buddy, Whitey Ford, who was up here and got hit in the head with the ball. Here's an extra, 29 years, and got hit in the head in the sand. I'll say that ball took a real bad bounce off the facing of the C.V. booth down there. So that reflexes. All on pitch to Hernandez. Peter suspends it at a time for a ball one and one.

31:14How would you rate Whitey Ford among the fielding pitchers, Jerry? Great. Great, really. And you know, he had great moves at any one of those three positions, first, second, and third. Excellent ball player in all capacity. Good and run, though. He won't switch to Hernandez. He swings the misses on a pitch fading away from him, and the count is one ball and two strikes. The only thing that Whitey couldn't do well was run. He wasn't fast, but he was a great fielder, good, thick, off moves, and of course, who was any better as a pitcher. That's right. One of the great ones. The ball and two strikes to Hernandez. Peterson lets it go, Hernandez swings the misses strike three. The first strikeout for Peterson. And now the batter will be Pat Kelly, the center fielder.

32:15Got a single. His first time up. Press one right back up the middle. Good lead ball, all of a sudden, the pitch is lined out in the right field. That should mean a run. Here comes Oliver from the plate. Here comes Versus throw, way over gives Ed Peterson back to him. I'll take the throw close to second base, and the Gene Michael Amos decoyed Kelly into being out of second. He got back to the bag after a turn. The Royals go out in front, one, and nothing. Bobby Mercury's throw from night field was over the head, a good give. He's trying to pull the hit in ball trick.

33:17Gene Michael kept the ball, but they did not fool Kelly who would not take his foot off the bag at second. And now Michael flips the ball back to Peterson, and we're ready to go. Royals leading one to nothing is Joe Boyce, that's it. Fitch is right in there for a call strike. Kelly now has two hits in this game, his RBI, number 12 on the year. He went to second base on the throw home. All one pitch, foul back. End of the stand, the Mosinine section.

34:24So all two strikes on Joe Boyce. He reached on a force out in the first inning. He stole second, went to third on Gibbs throwing here, but it's fired as the Roy grounded out. Peterson goes to fifth, high. A ball on two strikes to Joe Boyce. That's the Gene Michael after decoying, Kelly. Then kept the ball. Of course, while an in-fielder has the ball on the hit in ball trick, the pitcher cannot go on the mound. He has to stay on the grass as he goes on the mound without the ball at the ball. So one two pitch. Three, quick call, fastball got the inside corner on four on the side of retired. The Royals could one run on two hits. There were no Yankees. A man is left, and at the end of two and a half, the score is down to thirty-one in New York with nothing. Well, the next time you drop by Yankee Stadium, I've got a good suggestion for you.

36:30The strike's been coming, popped up on the left side. Down comes four from third, now in foul territory, and he makes the catch. So Michael has retired, won out, and the batter will be Jake Gibbs. Gibbs is all for three in the series, but the year Jake is batting 207. Well, there's first pitch to Gibbs inside at the knees. One ball and no strikes. Bunker has not allowed a base there. He has walked him in. He fixed one of them off, and the other was thrown out attempting to field. Gibbs sends a high pop-up down the first base side. The eye, in fair territory, near the bag makes the catch. The other two out, and the batter will be pitcher Fritz Peterson.

37:36He has two hits in 32 trips. A batting average of 0-6-3. He follows one back into the mid. The catcher, Elie Rodriguez. This one is a bit low. Peterson was bailing out on the pitch. It was really not that far inside, but downstairs. One ball and one strike. Kansas City leading wandered up, and we're in the bottom half of the third inning. High pop-up on the third base side. Joe Boy right at the bag. Now a step in foul territory makes the catch, and the side is retired. So three pop-ups as the Yankees saw out an order in the third.

38:39And at the end of three, it's Kansas City. Wavav, New York, nothing. Okay, thanks. Let's take a look at the scoreboard. In the American League, after four and a half, the Oakland A's lead to senators. Four to nothing, hundreds. Against Moore, relieved by a hand in the fifth. Jackson hit his 18th in the first inning for the A's in that one. Cleveland failed the score. Top of the first, they're playing the White Fox in Chicago. It's T-Out against Portland.
