How much are you actually paying yourself? Not what your business generated last quarter. Not what you transferred after one good project. What are you consistently paying yourself, every two weeks or every month?

1. Choose your ideal annual compensation and divide it into a monthly or bi-weekly amount.
2. Compare it with what you're actually paying yourself right now. What's the gap?
3. Check whether your annual business plan includes your compensation as a real expense. If it doesn't, add it.
4. Work backward: what revenue, gross profit, and mix of projects does the business need to produce to support it?

You don't need to solve everything in one afternoon. But you do need to stop avoiding the number.
