£165M Fund Boosts Housing Projects via Road Fixes

It's called the Growth in Housing Accelerator Fund, targeting road access and junctions holding up new builds near major motorways and a roads. Take Rushcliff for example, where the concrete stretch of the A46 at Windrepool gets a full resurface and rebuild due to heavy wear. Hereby, upgrades hit the A46 newer bypass and A52 Nottingham junctions to clear those bottlenecks. This ties into real human needs, with aging roads over 45 years old, causing delays in housing and jobs. Officials say it will unlock sites that have sat idle, supporting tens of thousands of jobs while fixing long-term maintenance gaps. The fund slots into the government's third road investment strategy, or RIS-3, pumping 27 billion pounds into England's strategic roads from 2026 to 2031.
