130. Why Knowing Your Attachment Style Isn't the Same as Healing It
About this episode
Why does understanding your attachment style intellectually still leave you repeating the same relationship patterns?
In this episode of the Speak Honest Podcast, Jenn Noble gets honest about a gap so many of us know intimately: you've read the books, you can name your attachment style without blinking, and you still find yourself in the exact same spiral you swore you'd outgrown. Jenn breaks down the concept of a corrective emotional experience and explains why insight and nervous system change are two completely different skills, no matter how self aware you are. She walks through why the moment of clarity almost always shows up too late (in the shower, on the drive home, never in the fifteen seconds your thumb is hovering over send) and what it actually takes to close that gap. Using the analogy of learning to parallel park, Jenn makes the case that healing an attachment style isn't about collecting more information, it's about practicing new experiences on purpose, before the real moment ever shows up.
You might want to listen if:
- You know your attachment style but still can't stop the pattern
- You keep intellectualizing your emotions instead of healing them
- You want to understand the corrective emotional experience and how it works
- You're tired of insight showing up after the moment instead of during it
- You're ready to move from anxious attachment awareness to actual nervous system change
