成都人在茶馆除了喝茶、与朋友见面聊天外，还在此谈生意、找工作、获取新闻、听戏曲、听评书等等，可以说是除了家庭和工作场所之外的第三空间。从清末到民国，闲来无事去茶馆已经成为了成都人的一种生活方式。在成都，没有任何一个公共空间像茶馆那样与成都人的日常生活密切相连。
