新島 襄（にいじま じょう、天保14年1月14日（1843年2月12日） – 明治23年（1890年）1月23日）は日本の宗教家、教育者。学位は理学士。同志社英学校（後の同志社大学）を興した。
天運を怨まず人を責めない、教育に生涯を捧げた新島襄のこの言葉は教育者への訓戒でもある。
