تُعد رواية "إحدى عشرة دقيقة" (نُشرت عام 2003) العمل الأدبي الثاني الأكثر نجاحاً لباولو كويلو بعد روايته الشهيرة "الخيميائي". تدور أحداث الرواية حول "ماريا"، وهي فتاة شابة من شمال البرازيل، عانت من خيبات أمل عاطفية في طفولتها ومراهقتها جعلتها تفقد إيمانها بالحب الحقيقي. تقرر ماريا السفر إلى جنيف (سويسرا) بحثاً عن المغامرة والمال، حيث ينتهي بها المطاف للعمل في "كوباكابانا"، أحد بيوت الدعارة، محولةً الجنس إلى مجرد "وظيفة" رقمية ومجردة من المشاعر.
