Welcome to Church, you made it so glad that you're here. My name is Andy. I'm part time on staff here as a pastor of youth discipleship with my wife. We share that role. And here to just tell you a few things that you need to know about today. So welcome you guys are here. If you're not yet connected or some of the stuff that I'm saying, like you just have never heard of. If you'd like to get connected, you could scan. This thing's called a QR code. Are you familiar? You can put your phone up and open the phone or sorry, open the phone. Open the photo app and just hold it up there and it'll scan it and then you click go to that website. That's how it works. If you need more information about QR codes, just let me know after service. But if you want to get connected with text alerts, you can do that and be on emails. There's ways that you can give. And so if you are regular here and you'd like to support the things that we do, not just on a Sunday morning, but to the mission partners that we have in our area. And even globally, we connect with ministries and missionaries and support them. You can do that with our giving. You can give online. You can give by texting. That text number is up there.
Today is calm Sunday, which means that we'll have some kids in here. And it's actually kind of cool for me. This is I think the first Sunday that we visited, Kristen, my wife and I about five years ago. And we're like, okay, this church is a little different. And they today will take time to pass the microphone around a little bit. And John's going to say, if you've been here throughout this past sermon series, it's a time to encourage everybody about things that you remember, things that you've learned, things that you've been challenged with. And I've heard John say before and he's going to say more about this. I don't want to take all your announcements, John. Sorry. But I think it's an encouragement to him to say, okay, here's the things that God is doing in your life. So start thinking about that stuff and be ready to share. So that's calm Sunday today. That means also that we'll have kids in here. So if you need to take some time, if your kids are getting a little bit rambunctious or you're getting rambunctious, there's some quiet areas out here. You can still listen to the sermon, what people are sharing. You can head on to the lobby. The next thing we are starting up next weekend with our kid services.
And so next weekend is a 13th students. Those of you in here, have you started school already? Our school, my wife and I also work at a school. We don't start until Tuesday. But it was interesting. I was expecting like a cheer like we started school. Yeah. Anyway, okay. So they're back in school parents. Your kids are back in school. That's exciting, right? Okay, there you go. Tough crowd. All right. Yeah, I guess wake up everybody. All right. So next week is our kid service. We start officially. We could use some volunteers for those areas. Most notably in the nursery. There's always a spot that we could use more people. So if you're interested in that, you want to hear about how life giving of volunteer experience that would be talked to Jamie Cook, talked to Adam Cook. Let me know and I can get you connected to them. But hold on. Go back one more one more slide. Thanks, Brian. And also next week is what we call pop up Sunday. And that means that every kid is going to go from the grade that they've been in last year to the next grade. So if you're going to another environment, you can be part of that. And so with that,
we were talking about like this whole summer. We've been working on projects. Have any of you helped with the building project next door? And a lot of you have plugged in. You've helped with some big hands that are going on. Oh, yeah. And there's been a lot of work that we've been doing and just progressing along toward occupancy next weekend. Well, we found out this week. There's a little bit of a pause on that because of some fire inspections that we need to adhere to some things that are out of our control. We're actually going to need to pause. And probably for about two weeks, maybe in October before we can get into that space. And we're disappointed by that. But it's things that are out of our control. We're going to keep moving along. I'd be faithful with the things that God's given to us. There's some more things that we need to do. And so if you're interested in helping get those things to the finish line, those projects, ceiling tiles is a big one. Talk to me. Talk to Eric Slingot. Talk to John Thorngate. And we can get you connected with how you can help with those things. Last but not least in a couple weeks, we would love, oh, wait, this is second last but not second least. Wasn't really that funny.
So here's some things for our life-bridge students. And like I said, my wife and I, Kristen, we get a chance to help run that. And in addition to next week's pop-up Sunday, we're going to have some time with our middle schoolers in the 1030 service. And we're also going to do a cookout at Tom Jacobson's house. And so if you want to be part of that, please scan that QR code. That's what I told you about before, that little thing at the bottom of the screen. And let us know that you're going to come. We've got some other fun events. We're going to do a high school Bible study the following week at the 9 AM service. And then we're planning for a winter extreme weekend retreat in February. So you want to let you guys know about that. OK, last thing. And then we'll bring up John to share a little bit. In two weeks, we have a vision partner dinner. And we don't really have a thing called membership here at Life Bridge. But instead, we just say if you are around, if you're serving, you want to get plugged in, and you want to partner, get ready for this, with our vision, we have a thing called vision partners. I think that that's why it's called that. And we would love for you to come and hear from our pastors and to meet some people who are helping make church what it is.
And that's all of you. But if you want to know more about that, come and enjoy some food together and some time together. We'd love to have you on the 15th coming up in a couple of Tuesdays from now. OK, that's all I have to share. Again, welcome to Life Bridge. Would you please welcome up our pastor, John Adams. He's going to share a little bit more. Come on now. Ha-ha. Thank you, Andy. If you notice, I just start walking up once. That's like my cue. Like, hey, be done, man. So he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's doesn't go anywhere good. Now I'm kidding, Andy. It's great. Thank you, sir. All right. So next on our, so we do comp Sundays for a few reasons. Like, Andy was sharing, but one of them is for us to just model rest for all of us as a church as well. We live in a culture that's very busy and we're constantly moving, constantly on the go, constantly doing this next thing. And just busyness is everywhere. And so we as a church want to model what it looks like to rest. And now you guys are sitting here with all the kids
and trying to like wrangle kids and stuff. And like, this isn't very restful. The idea is us as an organization of resting. And so we don't have kids ministry open. And we, I didn't prep a sermon. And we're just kind of taking time to just rest together as a church community and a church family. So that's the idea of calm Sundays. We're glad you joined us for this. And we'll have testimony time later. And we'll pass the mic around. And these are wonderful times of just you guys sharing. And you guys preaching the sermon for us today. But first, before that, we have a couple of child dedications. So if you could go to that slide, Brian, child dedications, we do these for a few reasons. One is to commit the child to the Lord. So this is like a ceremonial process where we as a community are committing this child to the Lord. And this isn't their salvation experience, but it's us just saying, blessing them. And us as a church asking for God's blessing over them in their lives. It's a way for the parents to commit
to raising their children in a home that values Jesus and to model Christ's likeness, but also to teach the faith to their children. And it's also an opportunity for us as a congregation where we come around them and say and voice our support for them that we will do whatever we can, whatever is in our capacity to care for them and to help their children know Jesus. So first, we have Riley Joe Bush, I have the Bush family. Would you guys come on up, Kyle and Rebecca? Oh, I got my words backwards here. Hey guys, what a sweetie. That's one way to make sure that she's like pacified is just milk.
I, oh big smile. I don't know if she's smiling at me or the milk. I'm going to say it's me, but I don't know that that's true. All right. All right. Well, Riley, the first thing I picked out for you is at the end of Psalm 23, where Psalmist writes, surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Oh, maybe she is smiling at me. That's so sweet. Hi. Yeah. Hi. Oh, that's adorable. Oh my goodness. Just each up. All right. So we live in a world where we live in a culture where goodness is hard to come by. And the Psalmist here is just expressing his confidence that God's goodness and his love are going to pursue him, are going to follow him all the days of his life. So that is my prayer for you, Riley. Joe, is that God would just pursue you that his goodness, his love would just chase after you
all the days of your life? And that you would know that. That God is always chasing after you, that he loves you, and that his goodness and his love are there for you. All right. So now I'm going to ask you guys just a couple of things. So number one, just express yes, or we will. It's kind of like the wedding ceremony, but not. Third Kyle and Rebecca, will you guys commit to following after Jesus with all of your heart to knowing Him, to modeling Christ's likeness and to teaching the faith to Riley Joe? There's so. So here we go. You're right. All right. Yes, same thing. I should probably just pick one and just go with that. We'll get it with the next one. All right. Church congregation, will you guys do whatever is in your, whatever your part is in helping this beautiful family and helping Riley Joe to know Jesus, to love him, and to follow him all the days of her life? If so, please say we will.
All right. Would you join me in prayer? Pray a blessing over these guys. Lord, we just thank you for this promise, for this truth, that your goodness and your love is chasing after us, is pursuing us all the days of our life. Gotta pray that blessing over Riley Joe, that you would pursue her, ask that you, Lord, you would just continue to chase after her, that she would know that you are with her, that you love her, and that Lord, your goodness and your mercy are always right there for her. So Lord, we just pray that you would bless her, that she would come to know you at an early age, and Lord, that you would bless their home, with joy, with goodness, and with love, that comes only from you. Jesus, it is in your name, we pray. Amen. Amen. Thank you guys so much. And we have a couple of gifts for you. Number one, and that. All right. God bless you guys. Thank you. Applause.
All right, and then next we have Zach and Bella, with little Wyatt. And I will let them pronounce their last name, because yeah. I'm at a loss. One more time. Nope. I don't be embarrassing. One more time. Wojahowski. God it. It's right there. It's, yeah. That's what I was going to say, totally. All right. All right. And this is little Wyatt. I wanted to blessing. And he's sleeping. They were really worried when they came in that he's going to be all cranky and crabby. And he's sleeping. So apparently my voice put you to sleep, dude. I'm not offended. You're not the only one. It's all right. All right. All right. For Wyatt, the verse that I picked out is from first Samuel, two, verse one. This is Hannah's prayer after she has had Samuel,
where she says, my heart rejoices in the Lord. And the Lord in my heart is lifted high. So horn is just like power and strength in this text. And we know the story where Hannah had waited a very long time before God blessed her with Samuel. And remember praying with you guys, is it last year? We met and we prayed. And just ask God to bless you. And here he is. So in a very similar story, very similar to the story of Hannah. So I wanted to pick this verse out and just acknowledge your joy in the Lord and how the Lord has strengthened you and how the Lord has lifted you up with little Wyatt. So just pray that God would bless him, bless your home as he already has. So let's go through the acknowledgments. Let's go through the acknowledgments.
So what do you guys commit to following Christ yourself, to pursuing Christ's likeness, to living Christ's like life, and to not only living it, but to teaching Wyatt the way of Jesus in your home. If so, please say we will. All right, church family, what do you guys? What you do in your part in helping Wyatt to know Jesus and helping support, I'm just gonna say Zach and Bella. I almost went last name and I'm like, I'm still gonna miss it, helping support them in raising Wyatt to know Jesus and to follow him. If so, please say we will. Thank you. All right, church family, what you guys doing, me and prayer. You're praying a blessing over them. Lord God, we are just so thankful for Wyatt. Lord, you know, what Zach and Bella have been through, you know their longings and the desires of their heart. Thank you for this blessing of Wyatt. So Lord, I just pray that you would pour out
your spirit upon them, that Wyatt would be set apart for you for service to you, to know you, and that Lord that you would annoy him, that you would just bless him. That he would know you deeply, that he would hear your voice. And Lord, that he would just develop this love for you. It's devotion to you, that his life would be a light to the world of your goodness. What a life looks like following after you. And Lord, I pray you're blessing over their home, that there would be peace in their home, that they would raise him to know Jesus, and Lord that they would model Christ's likeness to the best of their ability. Jesus would you be glorified in their lives. And your name would be pray. Hey, man. Hey, man. All right. Thank you guys so much. Bless you.
Really? How was your day? It's got first amulet on his arm. Beautiful. I didn't know that. That's awesome. That's amazing. Love those little God moments that we get.
