00This hour of the Bill Meyers Show podcast is proudly sponsored by Closer Drilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for more than 50 years. Fight out more about them at CloserDrilling.com. Now more with Bill Meyers. Welcome to Conspiracy Theory Thursday. You have a good one. You want a float? Well, you're certainly welcome to join it. 770KMED, the email bill at billmeyershow.com. Talk about some of those this morning here too. 22 to chew on this morning also, including I'm going to be talking with a research fellow at the independent institute and he wrote a book called the independent guide to the constitution. Name is William J. Watkins and he's concerned and he wants to make the case and like I said, you know, when we have war going on like we do right now, I know some people are saying no bill. We don't have war, but I'm sure it looks like one and the markets are three to get like that too. And so are the world's military too for that matter. But he believes that President
03Trump is is, well, the way I'm terming it is chumming the waters for an impeachment after the midterms. And then I don't know if he's making the case that the midterms are already looking, I think it's too early to call that right now. But certainly things are looking sporty, I guess would be a good way of putting it. Wouldn't you say you say that, you know, right now the way things are looking economically, militarily and even diplomatically kind of sporty at the moment that we have going on. And so anyway, I'll talk with William about that and talk about his books. He would he has to say about it. Also, we're going to have a conversation with Kelly Marketouli. Remember Kelly Marketouli raising the alarm. I mean, this is kind of going down the line and what we were talking about the, the glyphosate, you know, glyphosate that city of Ashlyn is looking to spread on the, on the median strips in Cisco on Cisco Boulevard. We were talking about that yesterday. But Kelly has been focused on, well, safer technology. And
05she has lots of concerns and was on the show a few months ago when they were talking about cell phone towers, citing and high frequency RF exposure from, from cell phone towers, things like that. Well, I guess they're going to be doing some presentations and kind of put meat on the bone of what she was talking about last year, 2025. So I'll talk with her about what is coming up with that Simon here. Simon here running for Joseph. He and County treasurer. He ended up, you know, shifting at the last minute. And we'll talk with him also before the end of the show this morning, kind of get to get the latest on that. Josephine County, though, is, there is so much churn going on in Josephine County. Same thing if I could find this. I saved the story. Yeah, Chris Bristol at the daily courier was writing about this overnight. And they talked about how quiet it was in Jackson County. And, you know, we have people who were running for reelection, you know, Colin Roberts, you know, Rick Dyer, you know, for county commission.
09While it is just a dog fight, it is just a jungle dog fight over in Josephine County. Now, the one dog fight that we have in Jackson County, though, has to do with the democratic race, the democratic primary race to replace Jeff Goldin, Senator Jeff Goldin, who announced his retirement, right? So now we have Brad Hicks on the Republican side. And I don't think anybody, I don't think anybody filed up until the very last minute to challenge him. So it looks like it's going to be Brad Hicks in the, in the primary for the primary win. So he's going to be going on to the general election. But over on the democratic side, five, five of them are duking it out, including Kevin Stein, Kevin Stein, met for city counselor. So that's going to be a really interesting race when you do this. But back to what Chris, Chris Bristol was writing. Let's see, these are all the people he think you put it out here. All the candidates in alphabetical order just for county commissioner position two. This is the one that Gary Richardson was appointed to
16recently. Now he did not run. He's not going to be running. He's just going to be there through the through the election time through this term. He's just doing the temporary job. But the race to position nine candidates, Michael Burr, small business owner and Air Force veteran, Matt Eid, a finance and HR consulted. Who else do we have here? Bill Urtail, Chad Hansen, Mark Jones, Indra Nicholas, Jim Rafferty, Jim Rafferty going out to the again, Mark Seligman, our friend Mark Seligman, our favorite Selma landscaper and cannabis fan, right? We had that. And of course, everyone's favorite. I love. I love how the daily courier sort of glosses over Matt spur lock, Matt spur lock, an employee of the Josephine County food bank. But is it a member of ORD two? Indivisible, right? I think so. I'm pretty sure I said it. Haven't people been telling me that on then? Yeah, they kind of downplay that part of it. I think he's known more
21for that than the Josephine County food bank. But anyway, very interesting times once again in Josephine County. Now then, what is going on with the vote? The tax vote? Yes, the tax vote is going to be moved and it appears at this point. The no tax or again, I think it is a ballot measure 120. I think that's the official number. If I recall correctly, just, you know, spent fallen with you this morning, it will be in the, in the May primary, the May primary, instead of the general at this point, Mary and County judge did end up saying that, yep, nope, their legislature did not violate the constitution by doing this. They just violated the public's trust is really what they did because everybody signed a petition that said we wanted in the November general election. State representative Ed Diel, who is also running for governor too, GOP gubernatorial candidate here for governor says we're fighting back and demanding an investigation. I have a news release for him and he says we're obviously disappointed in this ruling. We feel
24like it is a travesty of justice. So there is talk that they may appeal this, but, you know, we really don't know at this point. We're getting down to press tax and maybe running out of time, I suppose, too. There is another interesting story because there was another lawsuit surrounding this gas tax referendum and Mary Martin won her lawsuit yesterday. She had sued and a federal judge into the ruling. Now Mary Martin is a disabled 73 year old woman from Klamath Falls and she argued that the, you know, this way of getting your argument into the voters pamphlet in which you can get it for free if you go out there and get 500 signatures and then you don't have to pay the 1200 bucks. 1200 bucks is not a small amount of money to get your argument in the in the voters pamphlet for most people. Maybe organizations can raise that, but people on an individual basis. It's a little bit of a high lift, right? And so what she argued in court was that to have to do this,
26to have to hurry up and get 500 signatures is a violation of federal law because of disabilities. You're a disabled person. You're not going to be running around from house to house to house to get the, you know, people signing your, your petition to, you know, get into the voters pamphlet. That kind of thing. And a federal judge, US Circuit Court judge, Michael Simon did rule in her favor. However, the one thing that Mary Martin was asking for was to have this be declared a class victory. So everybody else who was disabled was going to be able to do the same thing. So this is only going to apply according to Simon's ruling. It only applies to Mary Martin and only Mary Martin. So I guess, I don't know. I'm surprised that Michael Simon didn't feel like digging into this further, but maybe future litigation will have, we'll have more to say on this. So actually a couple of stories about that right now. And we do have a new Jackson County Library
27board director, at least on the interim basis. Frank Phillips. And everybody knows him from St. Mary's ran of the, run of the president of St. Mary's for years. And from all accounts, good guy. I was a sharing text message with Kevin Keating on the board last night. And apparently that all that needs to be done. It's a, it's just a formality. He has agreed to it verbally just hasn't signed the contract yet. And then they'll take care of that. And this was all about the firing of old director Kerry May. And you may remember what happened about this. I mean, just the way she handled that talent library incident involving, you know, you got the registered sex offender, who, well, they didn't know he was the registered sex offender at first, but then, you know, they figured out, oh, yeah, he's already registered sex offender. And he's looking at the videos of the naked kids on the library district computers, which has always been against policy in the library. It would not even mention that it's against the law, depending on what you're doing. However,
29you know, the D a said that what, what the sex offender was doing was bad, but it didn't rise to the level of yet an additional crime, but still violates the library policy. So anyway, we're talking about Frank Phillips getting 10 grand a month, 10 grand a month that is not bad pay to be on a temporary basis running a library. Is it really take 120,000 a year plus to define someone to run the library? Is that where we are these days? I don't know. It's, well, I guess you have to direct the foot washing, the bum foot washing. Okay, I'm just a little sarcastic and kidding. I can't help myself. All right. It is 22 minutes after six. I hope you're doing well this morning on conspiracy theory Thursday 7 7 0 5 6 3 3 if you wanted to run in. Run to today. Hi, this is Mark from Jay Austin and I'm on KMED. 24 minutes after six, joined the conversation at 7 7 0 5 6 3 3 7 7 0 KMED.
34By the way, we don't have a Facebook live camera this morning. Some sort of an internet or network problem with it and hopefully we'll try to get that fixed and see if we can re-evaluate get that back on. Okay. All right. Although everything around here here says that we have the internet. But for some reason, it could be something going on with Facebook. I don't know. Maybe yours is working okay, but ours is not at the moment. Okay. Must we have going on this morning? Miner Dave, he woke up early here. You always want to weigh in with a good conspiracy on conspiracy theory Thursday. What's striking you this morning? Well, it's Sean Hannity and Senator Lindsey Graham being I seen a clip on him and they were so grateful of the war. I'm not saying the war isn't necessarily. You don't have to deal with greed and happiness. You don't think so, huh? You have to understand, though. Well, you have to understand that the war is the ones that that pay for it. He didn't have any children in the
37military. And so, you know, people that do have to serve need to do it with respect, but not greed. Yeah, that you're not real happy with the tone being taken. You have to understand, though, that Senator Lindsey Graham is solidly into whatever Israel wants. And he's always been one of those kind of senators. In fact, I was reading interview with him, which he was talking about how he goes to Israel every at least two times a month is what he does, you know, at this point. So I would dare say or one could argue that he's more concerned about what Israel thinks than what maybe Americans think possibly. At least I don't know that's a conspiracy theory or just evidence of conspiracy fact, but he's one of those guys. And he's always been one of those guys here. Okay. You know, not all that different, but but the same guy like John McCain, you know, the John McCain type of Republican that we get so many of in Washington DC for some reason.
44Thank you for the call, Dave. 7705633770 KVD. You can call in and either concur or disagree, but oh, I got to tell. Well, you know, like I was talking, like I have talking, it's like every time you see Lindsey Graham and the war and the war started and the Bob start flying and it's like it's like he's practically, it's like, it's diplomatic or political spinach for him. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. He gets all buff in the, he grows hair on his chest, I think, when the, when the bombs are going. Anyway, speaking of those bombs, let's see US military command operating in the middle East warning citizens to immediately avoid any ports that may be used by the Iranian military, and said that Iran is using civilian ports along the street of Hormuz to launch operations. Central Command sent comment to state, but Wednesday saying this dangerous action risking the lives of innocent people. We have certainly been warned, I guess, on that one. And else do we have going on here?
44Not about the war, but about the war on your phone. Oregon live has an interesting story here. There's a fake Oregon DMV text that is making the rounds. I want to make sure you know about this one. And it is fake. If you get a text message that says this, Oregon DMV final enforcement notice, please be informed that enforcement procedures will begin on March 10th. Our records indicate that a traffic citation associated with your name remains unpaid, understate of Oregon code, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. If you get that Oregon DMV doesn't do that. Oregon DMV can't even keep some of their offices open. I get news releases every day, talk about how they can't get enough people in there to demand the DMV lines. I assure you, there's nobody over at the Oregon DMV text messaging your phone to try to get you to pay a traffic ticket. Okay. So if you get that, they're just trying to warn everybody. Please ignore it. It is a fishing expedition. They're trying to get your personal information and steal your money or get you to send them some money using Bitcoin or it's just crazy.
46You know how some of that stuff goes. Hi, good morning. This is Bill. Who's this? You're on KMED. Oh, hi, Bill. Glenn Arshambo. Glenn, how you doing, Mr. Arshambo? What's on your mind today? Well, I have a court case I thought you might be interested in, Bill. The gas pipeline provider here in the valley went to court, had a long talk with FERC and FERC agreed with them, and so they're going to allow them to expand that gas system substantially. Is this the one that that terminates over in the Phoenix area? That gas pipeline? Yes. Now, does it terminate there or just spike off or know why off or are there other, does it end there or is there more to it? Oh, yeah. A lot more to it. Oh, okay. Because this starts in Canada. Heads into some very large lines that go through Washington, Oregon and down into California. So we're talking about the substantial big part of that system has been approved.
51I know there's going to be people unhappy with that. So I got a trade here. I'm on the safety side very often on these decisions. So we're going to ask people because Oregon has a bad rep and so do the other Western states about doing things like digging into the pipeline on farms and ranches. That's one of the biggest failure rates we have. So we're not going to do that. What we're going to do is be nice and everybody hopefully will behave themselves. Now, when you say everyone's going to behave themselves that they're going to skirt farms or go around the farms in a way that or put the pipeline through, right? They're going to go right through. Oh, they're going to go right through the farms. Yeah. The wines are already there. They're going to up the pressure and up the compressors. Oh. Oh, okay. Is this about transporting more natural gas towards? Yes. Yes. A lot more natural gas. I'm using a system that's already in place. So I have that line go through my farm and many other farms in Southwest Oregon are in
55that situation. And we know from data that it's on those farms that we're likely to have a dig in or somebody digs into the pipe damage that caused a big explosion or fire, kills, hurts people, all kinds of terrible things. So I'm asking this population here in Southwest Oregon to behave yourself. If you are going to dig something call from 1-800 before you do it, because this is getting to be a much bigger pipeline system, we're talking a really high pressure. So what kind of pressure increases are we talking about in the natural gas pipelines running into the big major pipeline in Oregon? The changes they're making appear to be compressor and software changes. Security gates and fences are going up in some spots. Right now, the line running here into the Rogue Valley, my last word is it's about a thousand PSI on a 12-inch line, pretty substantial pressure there. You definitely don't want to dig into that.
59And every day in this country, Bill, somebody gets hurt, kills, burns something up simply because they didn't follow the rules. How deep are the pipelines? That's a really good question. Okay, so on the county road, where I am, that's about eight feet because it goes under the road and then it jumps back up to about three to four feet when it's in straight sections. But when you get to other federal infrastructure like the irrigation systems, it's the same thing. It's got to go way under the canal that's required. And so you can't be certain about how deep any of this is. That's why you're asking for assistance. If you're really lost, you want to talk to the pipeline operator. They have a guy who come out and help you. Is there a map that shows where they all go or does every property owner know that they have a pipeline on their property or not? How does that work? Many people have no idea. They bought the property and when you went and talked to the nice lady at the title company,
02they didn't say to you, hey, buddy, you know, you got this big pipeline in the backyard. What they said was that somebody had an easement to their benefit, but it doesn't tell you what it is. Oh, okay. So we're going to have to be even more careful given that they're upping the pressure in these big pipelines. Now, I'm wondering, is part of this due to the push that they're thinking for data centers and there's probably going to be more natural gas being used for generating purposes? What do you think? I think that's exactly what's going to happen. This is TC energy that's doing this increase. And I mean, they're a huge company. They're close to the biggest thing in Canada and the Western states. You know, they're the big boys. So where this gas goes and the fact that they hold huge easements, they can up that gas however they like. Okay. Now, the final question I would have for you is that what is that dig number again if
03you're going to be digging out in your field or ever? You want to go to 8-1-1, also you can go to the pipeline markers in many places, not as many as we'd like, but and there'll be an 1-800 number. You can also go online and contact them. That sounds pretty simple and I'm hoping that people will take your advice in that we don't have any issues because, yeah, you're right, when pipelines get pierced, you know, it's one thing when they cut the internet, when some guy with a backhoe ends up, you know, cutting through the fiber, you know, it's one thing when that happens. It's quite another when you hit the pipeline, isn't it? Oh, we'll talk about this one day, but I'm a survivor of one of the worst gas events in North America. I managed to walk out alive and I'm going to tell you, you have no idea how scary that all is until you're actually there. And this is something which is very necessary. Natural gas is a huge feedstock for chemicals, for everything about civilization.
07So no matter what the greenie say, that ain't going away, okay? So no, it's not, and you know, Bill, I've listened to both sides intently to make sure I get the point, you know, and I know a lot of people are going to be very upset about this court decision, really upset because they lost big time. I mean, not a little lost, but completely. And GTN gas transmission Northwest and TC energy one in a VISTA utilities one. All right. Very good. Thanks for the update. And during noted Glen Arshambo, thank you. Yep. Thanks Bill. All right. Take care now. Glen once again, just know that he's on the the pipeline safety board. So he's all involved in keeping us from poking those pipelines, right? Good. 635 at KMED. Hi, and welcome to Grover's Electric and Plumbing Supply. Thanks. Is that your vehicle out front? Yep. Wow. That looks like a spaceship. Oregon drives. This is News Talk 1063, KMED.
08And you're waking up with the Bill Meyers Show. Senator Josh Hawley has been introducing a bill that he had a big news conference yesterday. About Memphis, you know, the abortion, I guess this is what they call the morning after a bill, or what is known that way. Maggie McNeely joins me, though, to talk about what was going on in this press conference and what this bill is all about. Maggie is the director of government affairs that concerned women for America. Maggie, it's a pleasure having you back on. Welcome. Well, Steve, thank you so much for having me, Bill. Maggie, could you set the table on what Senator Hawley is doing? You're real happy about this. And I haven't paid much attention to the Miffa Pristone thing. I just thought it's out there in the stores. It's not much that could be done about it. It's in the pharmacies, right? Or is there going to be something attacking this? What's up? Yes. So obviously we had an amazing pro-life victory when dobs overturned Roe v. Wade and some of the decision of abortion back to the state. But the issue that we've had ever since is that abortions have actually increased.
11And that's because of Miffa Pristone and chemical abortion pills like it. And nowadays, women can just go online and order these pills without having to visit a doctor or without any other medical oversight. Or they can have boyfriends or other third parties who want their partners to have an abortion and they can order these pills again without any sort of medical oversight. So it's an extremely easy way to obtain an abortion. And so we've seen numbers, the numbers rise. And so what Senator Hawley is doing with his bill, which is called the Safeguarding Women from Chemical Abortion, what it would do if it were passed would remove Miffa Pristone from the market for the purposes of abortions. Because the drug is used for a number of other things. So it would just ensure that it cannot be prescribed for the purposes of terminating a pregnancy. Which would be used, you would do yes. It would save millions of lives, millions of babies, and protect women who are being harmed by hit taking the drug. Okay. So I guess the challenge that you're running into is that aren't we at the point?
13And I'm not disagreeing with where you're coming from. But aren't we at the point now that that essentially we have to be convincing hearts and minds rather than trying to restrict the abortion to people? Because obviously people are wanting it. Otherwise, they wouldn't be going in getting it. I disagree with him. But nevertheless, that's where we find ourselves. What are the concern women? What's their take on that? Yeah, you're absolutely right. We do need to be convincing hearts and minds. But one of the problems with the abortion pill is that women are being lied to. They're going into Planned Parenthood or other, you know, like I said, you don't have to go to a doctor. You can just order it online. And they're told that if they take this pill, it'll just be like having a heavy period. So have cramps, they'll have some discomfort. But then it will be fine. But in real life, that's not what's happening. These women are having their in excruciating pain. They go home. This is essentially inducing labor. And they find themselves prematurely giving birth to their child in their bathrooms. They are surrounded by pools of blood.
14Numerous women have died or have ended up in the hospital. The pill itself actually has an FDA black box label that says one in 25 women who take it will end up in the emergency room. And the pro-abortion crowd keeps saying that chemical abortion is just the safest Tylenol. Well, Tylenol does not have an FDA black box label on it. But Mythopristone does. So it's just a bold, faith lie. And so these women are taking these pills with the expectation that it's going to be safe and fine. And that's just an easy way to eliminate a problem. And it's just not true. Yeah. Okay, so you're saying it's not as easy as they're claiming. But of course, I'm not surprised that the Planned Parenthood rackets would end up, you know, saying this, oh, it's just fine, take a pill and then your problems go away, you know, because the children are problems, I guess, you know, in today's culture, yikes. But be that as it may, what you say that the Josh Holley's bill would remove it from the,
16and so a doctor could not then prescribe it for anything other than other than the other uses. How would they know? I guess it's what they're asking because how would you know? How it would be used or what it would be used for? How would anybody know with this drug? Well, if she's going to the doctor or is talking to some sort of medical provider, a telehealth provider and saying I would like to obtain an abortion, this is the number one way of doing it right now. So, you know, I certainly, there are ways that she could obtain it for, or it would be sure, it would be difficult perhaps. Well, the reason I'm bringing it up is like, you know, I remember what was happening back when the federal government said, hey, we don't want you taking Ivermectin. And then, and then of course everybody started getting scabies, right? And by the way, and yet, and yet it was, and that was a bad thing that I thought the federal government was doing.
19And I would imagine that the abortion fans are going to think this would be, you know, a bad use of a federal government power too. Well, what do you think are the chances of this? So, you're thinking it's a good thing, you know, overall. Yeah, well, and I will say this has actually been done before. Back in 2000, there was a drug called Biox for arthritis. And that drug had a 0.04 percent chance of adverse reactions. And the FDA pulled it from the market. Mr. Pristum currently has a 0.5 percent chance of adverse reactions. And so, you have this drug that was previously pulled for a much lower chance of catastrophic events happening to anyone who takes it. And yet, Mr. Pristum is still in the market. So, I just, I want to put that out there, but there is precedent for this. All right. What else is it used for? You know, off to off your head. Cushing, Cushing's disease is the primary cause and also women who have miscarriages as well. All right. Yeah. Cushing's disease. Is that the disease? No, that's grave syndrome. I'm trying to think what the wife of George H. W. Bush had.
23I think it was grave syndrome, but Cushing's disease. I'm trying to think. Okay. Well, I don't want to get off in the weeds on that. Sorry. All right. Well, I really appreciate knowing here. And why is Josh going to the mat on this one? Is there, what is driving him, do you think? What's his story? Senator Holling. Well, for what thing he has young kids himself. So he's very passionate about their future and protecting life. And he agrees with concern with women for America that all life is worthy of protection and has its own inherent dignity. So he's very passionate on that front. But he also recognizes that abortion is never going to end. Women are never going to be fully protected until we take these pills off of the market. So long as they are so easy to get, the scourge of abortion is going to continue. Women are going to continue to be in harm's way. So he's really motivated to put an end to that and really believes it's on Congress to do that. We can't rely just on the executive branch that Congress really needs to act to make sure the drug is not available for purposes that it shouldn't be available for.
25All right. Any concerns that this just may be creating a black market in such a pill that people have gotten used to having? Can you talk about that? That's always an argument. But we have often seen that it's just not the case that if you make something illegal there will be less of it. Okay. Yeah, because I'll tell you because you know, federal government says fentanyl is illegal too. And yet there's plenty of it on our streets if you know what I'm getting at here, Maggie. Right. But that doesn't mean you continue to make it legal. I mean, just because people are murdering people doesn't mean we say, well, let's make murder legal. Yeah, no, I get that. I'm just, I'm always trying to look at what might be, you know, the precedent setting and, you know, today they come for a myth of Prestone, even though I'm not a fan of this. And then and next they tighten things up. And like the next time the federal government wants to ban an Ibermectin, which is being banned for political, which was being banned for political reasons back
28during COVID, I just get concerned of more of this stuff. So what does the ask then? So the only ask is that this ends up being taken off of you can prescribe it for the abortion deal. Right. That's all it is. Well, and there is one other part of the bill and that would allow women who have been victimized by these drugs to be able to sue the companies that make them. I don't have some sort of recourse. Oh, now do they not have that right now right now? They do not. Oh, okay. All right. All right. But that is huge. Okay. See, that is a huge thing. Now, if only we could get that with vaccine manufacturers, but that's a conversation for another time. Okay. Right. All right. Now, I see that. See, that is a, that's a death shot. Okay. It really is. Okay. That's the way I look at that. So, thanks for letting me know about that because that's a big part of that. A big part of it. If it removes the liability protection, that's a strong, strong bill then. Okay. Absolutely. All right. I appreciate you joining.
28Now, where can we find out more about this particular issue through concern women's own America? There you go. Yes. Absolutely. You can find us at concernwomanforamerica.org. And we're also on X and Instagram. And you can find all of our information there. Maggie McNeely is the director of government affairs concern women for America. Thank you for sharing a few thoughts on that this morning. Really do. Appreciate it. Absolutely. Thank you for having me. Right. Take care now. It is 10 before seven on KMED and 993 KDXG. I'm Taylor Riggs and this is the Fox Business Report. Crewed oil futures are higher following Iran's attacks on ships and oil systems and bed slides too. Come see Oregon Trucking Auto Authority today and get your vehicle ready for your next adventure. The Bill Meyers Show is on. News talk 1063 KMED. 653 open phones on conspiracy theory Thursday for a little bit before Fox News. Sorry about Facebook lie. Facebook sees we having some problems this morning at least when it comes to the going live part of it for whatever reason.
29And I'm sure that they'll get something figured out over with Zuckerberg's place. Okay. Seven seven KMED. Hopefully we'll have Facebook live back tomorrow. A lot of people like to watch for some reason. I wouldn't want to watch me but because I just don't like the way I ever look. You know, I never got into this. I never got into this business. So I can say, Hey, you know, I want to get my face plastered all over everybody's a computer screen or or phone. But God bless you. If you do like to watch it that way, I understand that. It's an easy way to go. There is a story that picked my interest and it broke yesterday. Kind of got lost with all the other news. It's been going on everything involving the Iran war and so much more. And this is about a action that the Trump administration announced yesterday with the veterans administration. The VA is going to crank up an effort to get legal guardianships for homeless veterans.
33So homeless vets veterans that are out on the street. The push is to force more of them into institutions. Either some form of involuntary or institutional care. Now this is coming from the New York Times is where I'm sharing this story from. They're the ones that were recovering this yesterday. So take that as it is. But the new system carried out in a partnership with the justice department will invest veteran affairs department attorneys with expanded powers. So the attorneys at the VA would have higher powers. And it would allow them to initiate and take part in guardianship proceedings for veterans who have no family and are not able to make their own health care decisions. I know we have a lot of people listening to this radio station that served and or are veterans or have relatives who are veterans. And the concerns are being raised that this is going to be used to railroad a lot of homeless people into into a lot of programs.
43This initiative represents the Trump administration's most concrete action to advance its goal of compelling more homeless people into involuntary treatment for mental illness and drug addiction. President Trump identified the issue as a priority during the 2024 presidential campaign promoted it last July in an executive order that calls on agencies to use civil commitment to move homeless people into long term institutional settings. Now the critics they say that remember this is the Washington time or the New York Times rather critics say the policy shift raises significant civil liberties concerns. Noting that in earlier generations people with severe mental illness were routinely stripped of their legal rights and confined to state hospitals. The VA says the guardianship initiative would affect hundreds of veterans who are currently in VA facilities, but they need a legal decision maker to transition to a new setting. Some are homeless others are at risk of being homeless upon being discharged, this according to the agency in a press statement. This is any press release from the from the VA.
48Overall, what are you thinking about the plan if we have homeless veterans should it be easier to commit or force a homeless veteran into a drug addiction or an alcohol program. In other words, using a civil commitment process that appears to be what's going on for a long time. I've been wondering if if ultimately the homeless situation that we're dealing with which most of it a huge amount of this is based on alcohol and drug addiction was probably going to be attacked this way. Do you agree with it? Do you have an opinion one way or the other? Like I said, we're just getting the inklings of this and they're saying that the lawyers are going to be given new powers by the federal government and that they'll be able to pretty much take over. So someone is homeless, someone has a drug problem or something and then they force you into a treatment system of one form or another like a form of civil commitment.
48Good idea. Good plan. Good intentions. First of all, we got a lot of government programs that have good intentions. What could be the downside of it? I guess there's the question. So I just wanted to put that story on your radar. And you know, when you think about what we have here in Southern Oregon, you know, you go into the DOM. You got a problem. I know it's not called the DOM anymore. So it's going to be called the DOM forever as long as I'm still drawing breath. I'm still going to call it the DOM. Okay. That's just the way it is. Once you go in the DOM, you get a drug or alcohol problem. Maybe you're not to maybe kind of shaky on homelessness and then the lawyer takes a look at you and said, okay, we're going to put you into the treatment plan and we're going to force you. Well, I don't want to go in there. Well, it's too bad. We're going to do that. Is that the way to go? Veterans, what do you say? If you're involved with the VA, you would probably know better than anyone. 7705633770KMED.
50Hi, good morning. This is Bill. Who's this? Welcome. Hey, it's brother Louie. Hey, brother Louie. How are you doing this morning? Huh? Welcome. Very good. I'm a favorite short of time for what I wanted to talk about that. Oh, okay. Well, we'll give it a shot. I'm not mentioning it. Well, it was like more different things, but probably the most important one is that. I get the impression I'm spending way too much time online looking at kind of alternative stories about what's going on over there because I know we're being lied to about a lot. And a lot of people are saying that the Israel is getting suffering some real damage. And and some people, you know, say that say that I run has been using it's old. Mistletoe missiles and stuff and then they have better. Yeah, they want to use up the the older missiles first supposedly to drain the United States and Israel. Armaments and then the good stuff comes out. I don't know if that's two or not. We don't know. None of us can know at this point here.
51There's been real damage happening to Israel and we're not being told about it. There's a pressing that has kind of a news black out from what I hear now that you believe that or not. I don't know. But anyway, the problem is. Is that if if Israel starts taking with some serious damage, I do not trust them not to use not to use news. So you think the Samsung option is clearly on the table that. Absolutely. If you know they've had nuclear weapons for ever since. Well, during JFK's term, the JFK was trying to stop them from getting new clear secrets and. And fairly shortly after that, they started having nuclear weapons and it was an open secret, you know, that they've never acknowledged it. So it's in a way. What are you doing with building these weapons? Don't you have a plan? Is there. And and and mutually, mutually assured destruction. What you mentioned the other day is.
53The only deterrent we have really there. You know, all these countries that are that have nuclear weapons and then Israel is making damn sure that as long does not have a deterrent. And that's half of what this was about is that you know, they don't they don't want to allow any possibility of that. And yet the one of the challenges. I think you're that you bring up in this. Louis is there is something about. You know, do you think that Islam would be willing to martyr Iran for the cause? Boy, I doubt it, but you don't think so. I can't say I'm not I think that there are some differences in attitude. I well, of course, you know, is Israel willing to kill the rest of the world in order to survive? I don't know. I can't answer these questions. Right.
53When you talk about the Samson option and then one of the reasons we're supposedly in Iran is to make sure that we're not dealing with a crazy is just saying, hey, I'm just going to nuke you for Allah. You know, that kind of thing. I know it's very simplistic when I'm saying, but you know, some of the arguments I'm just kind of. Oh, yeah, that is arguments definitely have been very simplistic about Iran. I want to change over to the black male. The Iranians and a lot of people are calling you. Well, the Iranians particularly are calling the Trump administration the Epstein regime. And and all of their allies. Yeah, I've noticed that. Yeah. Yeah. And and I honestly think that Trump meant to be the peace president. He thought there was so much talk about him wanting to know about peace prize and he was kind of stopped the war in Ukraine. I believe those are his instincts, but. Yes, but it appears there's been a shift recently to the future. Why the big you turn and he didn't want to.
54He was he was going to give it another couple of weeks of negotiations. And and BB says, no, we're going to we're going to hit him. We're going to hit him. And you better do it first because if you don't, you're going to get hit by him. And you know, that kind of thing. So he was I believe that he's black male. I seriously believe that he's black male. Well, I'll tell you what that that's a great conspiracy theory Thursday claim. All right. Right. We'll have to set that aside here at the moment because I am short on time right now. Like you notice that 703. But maybe we pick it up after the bottom of the hour. Okay. All right. Okay. All right. I might call you back. Yeah, Mike. That's okay. I'll let people double dip a little bit if they're making good points. Even if I disagree. Okay. Thanks, Louis. I grabbed one more call before news. Hi. Good morning. Who's this? Hello. Have you got me on mine? Yes, it is. Okay. Holly want to call in. Joanne. You know. We're regards to the veterans being housed. You know, I think first of all, we've got to have something where you get people off drugs
56because no matter what you do with them, um, being on drugs is just a one way ticket to a miserable life. Now, I know they used to run a care facility, right? That's what you've done in your life. Carefully for elders. And that is really a great opportunity. Um, to keep the cost down and take care of people in a family like Detroit. family-like situation. And that might be an alternative. And it was so carefully regulated. My goodness, you can't believe what you have to do to run an RCSE. Yeah. Well, I believe that. My question is, though, and the question is, I think the civil liberties issue that the New York Times and others critics of this raise is valid. I think it is a valid situation that do we want the lawyers in charge of determining who ends up being placed into the institutions? Probably not, but I will say this. Until you get somebody off-drug, they're not going to be in a position to make any intelligent
59decisions about their own life and what needs to happen for them. You know, being on-drug is just a miserable life. So whatever they do, the first step we have to take is many facilities for getting people off-drugs. They keep wanting to put boxes around these people out in some field or tents, and they're not getting them off-drugs. So they can't figure out, do you why aren't these guys getting better? We got a nice tent over them over this nice, beautiful boy. Yeah. Yeah. Why aren't you getting better? Drug programs. All right. All right. Holly, I appreciate the opinion. That's why I put it out there that we're going to be hearing more about this in the coming weeks, no doubt, though. Kind of getting covered over by a war coverage at the moment. But it was kind of a bombshell in the VA world, okay? I want to make sure people knew about that. Thank you. This is KMED and KMED HD1, Eagle Point Medford KBXG grants pass. We'll catch up on the rest of the news coming up. And then is the president trolling or choming the waters for an impeachment? We have an independent scholar who is, you know, concerned about the war-making authority. How it's been
00you served by the executive over the last few decades, really, when people turn to
